Should it be the government or individual people? Questions and Answers PART 1: Bicycles How popular are bicycles in your hometown? Why? Bicycles are quite popular in my hometown, especially among students and young adults. Many people choose to ride bikes because they are an affordable and eco-friendly mode of transportation. Additionally, we have several bike lanes that make riding safer and more convenient. How often do you ride a bicycle? Why/Why not? I ride a bicycle regularly, usually on weekends or when the weather is nice. It’s a great way to stay active, enjoy the outdoors, and avoid traffic congestion when commuting short distances. Do you think that bicycles are suitable for all ages? Why/Why not? Yes, I believe bicycles are suitable for all ages. Children can learn to ride with training wheels, while adults can enjoy cycling for fitness. Older adults might prefer electric bikes, which make cycling easier and less strenuous. What are the advantages of a bicycle compared to a car? Why? Bicycles have several advantages over cars, including being more environmentally friendly, cheaper to maintain, and healthier for the rider. Riding a bike can also reduce traffic congestion and parking issues in urban areas. PART II: Describe a Person Who Has Helped Others A person who has significantly helped others is my neighbor, Mrs. Smith. She lives in my neighborhood and is well-known for her kindness and community involvement. Mrs. Smith has volunteered at the local food bank for many years, organizing food drives and helping distribute food to families in need. She also tutors children after school, providing them with extra support in their studies. I know about Mrs. Smith because I often see her at community events and she has helped me with my homework on a few occasions. Her dedication to helping others has inspired many in our neighborhood to get involved and make a difference. PART III: Discussion Topics Helping Other People in the Community What are some of the ways people can help others in the community? Which is most important? People can help others in various ways, such as volunteering at shelters, participating in community clean-ups, or providing support to the elderly. I think volunteering at shelters is particularly important because it directly addresses the needs of vulnerable populations. Why do you think some people like to help other people? Many people find joy in helping others because it fosters a sense of community and connection. Helping others can also create a sense of purpose and fulfillment, as people feel they are making a positive impact on someone’s life. Some people say that people help others in the community more now than they did in the past. Do you agree or disagree? Why? I agree that people are more involved in helping their communities now. With the rise of social media, it’s easier to organize and promote volunteer activities, which encourages more people to participate in community service. Community Services What types of services, such as libraries or health centers, are available to the people who live in your area? Do you think there are enough of them? In my area, we have several services, including a public library, health centers, and recreational facilities. While these services are beneficial, I think there could be more health resources, especially mental health support, as this is increasingly important for community well-being. Which groups of people generally need the most support in a community? Why? Vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, low-income families, and those with disabilities, generally need the most support. They may face challenges accessing basic necessities and services, and community support can help improve their quality of life. Who do you think should pay for the services that are available to the people in a community? Should it be the government or individual people? I believe it should primarily be the government’s responsibility to fund community services through taxes. However, individual contributions through volunteering or donations can also play a vital role in supporting and enhancing these services. • Last religious festival (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

A letter to your friend about last religious festival April 10, 2021 Mirpur, Dhaka My dear Arif, As the Eid vacation draws to a close, I wanted to share with you the wonderful time my family and I had during this festive period. We decided to spend Eid in our village home this year, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. Arriving at the village two days prior to Eid, we were joined by my two cousins and their families, adding to the joyous atmosphere. The eve of Eid was filled with excitement as we made preparations, including decorating and illuminating our houses and enjoying fireworks together. On the morning of Eid, we rose early, bathed, and dressed in our finest attire. Then, as a family, we proceeded to the open field ('maidan') for congregational prayers. Witnessing thousands of devout individuals bowing down to the Almighty in unison was a truly awe-inspiring sight. After the prayers, we exchanged warm embraces and returned home to greet our grandmother, mothers, and sisters. While the women of the household prepared traditional sweets like 'shemai,' the rest of us eagerly indulged in these delectable treats. We also made sure to share our joy by distributing sweets among the less fortunate, as well as among friends and relatives who visited us. In the evening, we visited the homes of our relatives, where we were warmly welcomed and spent time in merry-making. Returning home, we enjoyed a sumptuous dinner together, followed by lively conversations and laughter late into the night. We sang songs, shared jokes, and savored the bonds of family and friendship. Our Eid celebration was filled with joy, excitement, and warmth. Now, I'm curious to hear about how you spent your Eid. Please do share your experiences with me when you get the chance. That's all for today. Wishing you all the best. Yours sincerely, Tahseen From Name: House No: Street: Post Office: Thana: District: To Name: House No: Street: Post Office: Thana: District:

  • life style of a fisherman in our country(Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to tell your friend about the life style of a fisherman in our country April 10, 2021 Mirpur, Dhaka Dear Fatin, I'm excited to share with you my recent visit to the coastal areas of Cox’s Bazar and Maheshkhali, where I had the opportunity to observe the lifestyle of fishermen up close. Today, I'd like to shed some light on the life of a fisherman in our country. Bangladesh, being a riverine country with a long coastline along the Bay of Bengal, is abundant in fish, which also means a large population of fishermen. However, the reality of a fisherman's life is far from easy. They belong to one of the most impoverished sections of society, earning their livelihood by catching and selling fish. Typically, fishermen reside near rivers, large canals, marshlands, and seas, strategically positioning themselves for their trade. Their daily routine involves constant labor, from making and repairing fishing nets to maintaining their boats. Much of their time is spent out at sea or on the river, facing the inherent dangers of their profession, including venturing into deep waters. Despite the hardships, a fisherman's face lights up with joy when he makes a bountiful catch. However, it's important to note that many fishermen do not own their nets or boats, further exacerbating their already precarious situation. Yet, their contribution to society is invaluable. By supplying us with fish, fishermen play a vital role in our lives. It's essential to recognize and appreciate their efforts, considering the challenges they face daily. After learning about the life of fishermen, I hope you'll realize the difficult circumstances they endure. I trust that you're doing well with your studies and other endeavors. That's all for today. Sending you love and best wishes. Affectionately yours, Tahseen From Name: House No: Street: Post Office: Thana: District: To Name: House No: Street: Post Office: Thana: District:

  • About May Day (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to a friend / younger brother about May Day. April 10, 2021 Mirpur, Dhaka Dear Fatin, I'm thrilled to share with you a recent discovery that has left me deeply moved: the significance of May Day. It dawned on me that you might not be acquainted with this pivotal day, so I felt compelled to enlighten you about its profound importance. May 1st marks International Workers Day, a globally recognized occasion commemorating the relentless struggle of laborers across the world. This day serves as a testament to the hard-fought battles waged by workers throughout history. It stands as a beacon of unity and solidarity among the labor force, celebrated in numerous countries worldwide. The privileges and protections that modern-day workers enjoy, from minimum wage standards to safety regulations and the establishment of the eight-hour workday, are all fruits of the sacrifices made by their predecessors in the tumultuous year of 1886. The onset of the Industrial Revolution had subjected laborers to grueling work shifts, often extending to fourteen hours or more each day. However, amidst these harsh conditions, a fervent movement advocating for an eight-hour workday emerged, igniting the spirits of both organized labor unions and unorganized workers alike. Tragically, the events of May 3, 1886, at the McCormick Harvest Machine Company in Chicago serve as a stark reminder of the perils faced by workers in their quest for better rights and conditions. Police brutality against striking workers resulted in the loss of life, leaving one striker dead and several others gravely injured. Yet, amidst this turmoil, the resolve of the labor movement remained unyielding, echoing the sentiment that progress is often forged through adversity. The long-cherished dream of workers worldwide gradually came to fruition through unwavering determination and collective action. It's a narrative that undoubtedly piques curiosity and invites deeper exploration into the rich history of labor rights struggles. As I reflect on these profound revelations, I'm compelled to share them with you, dear friend, in the hopes of igniting a spark of curiosity within you. The ongoing struggle for workers' rights and privileges is a narrative worth delving into, for it speaks to the resilience and fortitude of the human spirit. With warm regards and affection, Tahseen Write a letter to a friend / younger brother about May Day. April 10, 2024 Dear Fatin, , I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. Today, I wanted to share my thoughts about May Day, a day that holds great significance worldwide. May Day, celebrated on the 1st of May, is also known as International Workers' Day. It honors the contributions of workers and highlights their struggles for fair treatment, proper working conditions, and just wages. The history of May Day dates back to the labor movements in the 19th century, especially the Haymarket Affair in Chicago, which played a crucial role in securing the eight-hour workday we now take for granted. In Bangladesh, May Day is observed with respect and awareness campaigns about workers' rights. On this day, we see rallies, discussions, and programs emphasizing the importance of labor in nation-building. However, many workers in our country still face challenges like low wages, long hours, and unsafe working environments. It reminds us that there’s much work to be done to ensure justice for them. We must acknowledge the efforts of laborers who contribute to every aspect of our lives. Be it building homes, sewing garments, or cultivating crops—they are the backbone of our society. May Day serves as a reminder to support their rights and dignity. I hope you’ll take some time to reflect on the significance of this day and how we can contribute to making life better for those who work tirelessly for us. Take care and write back soon. • Mother’s illness (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to your elder brother informing him of your mother’s illness. April 10, 2021 Mirpur, Dhaka Dear Fatin, I write to you with a heavy heart to inform you of our mother's recent illness. For the past week, or perhaps closer to fifteen days now, she has been battling a persistent fever. Initially, the fever raged with intensity, leaving her unable to rest or even partake in nourishment. Understandably, our anxiety grew, prompting us to seek medical assistance. Upon the doctor's examination, it became evident that Mother's condition was likely exacerbated by a combination of worries and excessive exertion. The prescribed course of action was clear: absolute rest and the administration of medication. We have faithfully followed the doctor's orders, and thankfully, Mother's condition is showing signs of improvement, albeit at a gradual pace. Throughout this ordeal, Mother's thoughts have incessantly turned to you. Your presence, she believes, possesses the power to uplift her spirits and hasten her recovery. Therefore, I implore you to make haste in returning home at your earliest convenience. Your visit holds the promise of bringing solace and encouragement to Mother during her convalescence. As for myself, I am in good health and spirits, though naturally concerned for Mother's well-being. I pray that this letter finds you in robust health and high spirits, and that you may soon grace us with your presence. With all my affection, Tahseen Write a letter to your elder brother informing him of your mother’s illness. April 10, 2024 Dear Karim, I hope you’re doing well. I wish I could share better news, but I’m writing to inform you about something concerning—Mother has not been feeling well for the past few days. She has been complaining of weakness and a persistent fever. We consulted a doctor yesterday, and he mentioned that she might have a viral infection. Thankfully, it doesn’t appear to be anything too serious at the moment, but she has been advised to take complete rest and follow a prescribed course of medicines. Despite the medication, her recovery seems slow, and she appears more tired than usual. The doctor has also suggested some tests to rule out any underlying issues. We’ll get the reports soon, and I’ll keep you updated on the results. Mother keeps asking about you and misses having you around. If possible, it would be great if you could visit us soon. Your presence always lifts her spirits, and I believe it will help her recover faster. Please don’t worry too much. We’re taking good care of her, and I’ll make sure she follows the doctor’s advice properly. Do let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to do. Take care and write back soon. • To be serious to studies (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to your younger brother to be serous to his studies. April 10, 2024 Dear Nizam, I hope you’re doing well and making the most of your time. I’ve been meaning to talk to you about something important, and I thought writing a letter would be the best way to express my thoughts. I know you’re young, and it’s natural to enjoy life and have fun. But I’ve noticed you’ve been a bit distracted from your studies lately. I’m writing this not to lecture you but to remind you of how important it is to focus on your education at this stage in your life. Your studies are the foundation of your future. The habits you build now will determine what kind of opportunities you’ll have later. Success doesn’t come overnight; it’s the result of consistent effort and dedication. You have so much potential, and I’d hate to see it go to waste because of distractions. It seems like you're hanging out with the wrong crowd and getting into some questionable stuff. Let me tell you, the company you keep can have a huge impact on your life. 'Nazrul Jayantee' is held on the 10th Jaistha every year in commemoration of our national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam in the field of Bengali literature. This year on the day of 'Nazrul-Jayantee' many distinguished persons attended the function arranged by us in our school auditorium. The Headmaster of our school took the chair in the function. It was a beautiful event filled with music, poetry, and inspiration. The program began with a speech by our principal, highlighting the life and contributions of Kazi Nazrul Islam, our national poet. We learned about his role as the “Rebel Poet” and how his works inspired freedom, equality, and love for humanity. It was inspiring to hear about his powerful words that continue to resonate even today. Next, students performed some of Nazrul’s most famous poems and songs. A group of classmates recited Bidrohi with such passion that it gave me goosebumps. The school choir sang Durgama Giri Kantar Moru, which filled the hall with energy and pride. There was also a drama based on Nazrul’s life, showcasing his struggles and his determination to fight against injustice. After the performances, there was a quiz competition about Nazrul’s life and works. I participated and was thrilled to win second place! The event concluded with a beautiful rendition of the national anthem, written by Nazrul himself. The day left me with a deeper appreciation for Nazrul’s legacy. • House you live in and whether you are happy (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to your friend describing the type of house you live in and whether you are happy or not living in such a house. 08-03-2024 Patherghata Chittagong My Dear ‘A’ Your letter of the 2nd instant reached me only yesterday. Going through your letter, I came to know about your mingled feeling regarding the house you live in. Now let me describe my one. As I feel, a house is a bare necessity to live a decent and enjoyable life. Without a house to live in, no man, in whatever station he might be placed, can be happy. Rabindranath, the great poet, felt the need of a house as is expressed in his poem ‘Asha’. I am a social being and I live in a healthy society with good neighbours. My house is a one-storeyed bungalow pattern house, situated in an open place with good space on all sides. It has as many as eight rooms --- three bed rooms for the member of the house and one for guests, one reading room, one store room, one drawing room and one dining room. The reading room is furnished with glass-fitted almirahs containing books on different subjects and arranged in rows on all sides with a good space in the middle. In the centre of the reading room a table is placed with chairs on all sides. The drawing room of my house is furnished with comfortable modern furniture. Some wall pictures, photographs and handiworks will be hung from the walls. The rooms are simple and arranged in different ways. Two bathrooms with sanitary facilities and a kitchen are at a considerable distance from the bedrooms because smoke and damp are not congenial to health. The chief attraction of my house is a flower garden with plants of various seasonal flowers and with a wide and circular green lawn in the middle. The garden looks very beautiful and adds to the charm of the homestead. In the garden we sometimes pass our leisure time. The path that leads out of my house is beautified with evergreen trees planted on both sides. The house is always kept neat and clean. This is my house where I live in. I am really happy to live in such a house where I get a happy healthy and enjoyable life. The house gives me an environment to have a sound mind in a sound body, fit for work, mental and physical. In fact it has taught me more than a school or an academy. I think you will be pleased having the description of my residence. That’s all for today. Hope you are in sound health and joyful time. With good wishes. Yours ever, Tahseen Write a letter to your friend describing the type of house you live in and whether you are happy or not living in such a house. 08-03-2024 Rampura, Dhaka Dear Hamid, I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to share with you a little about the house I live in and how I feel about it. My house is a two-story building located in a quiet neighborhood here in Rampura, Dhaka. It’s not very large, but it’s cozy and perfect for my family. On the ground floor, we have a small living room, a kitchen, and a dining area. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and a balcony that overlooks the street. The balcony is my favorite spot—it’s where I like to sit in the evenings and enjoy the breeze. One thing I really appreciate about my house is the natural light. Large windows in most of the rooms let the sunlight in, making the place feel warm and cheerful. We also have a small garden in front with a few flowering plants and a mango tree. It’s a joy to see the flowers bloom and hear birds chirping in the morning. That said, there are a few drawbacks. The neighborhood gets quite noisy at times, especially with traffic and construction nearby. Also, during the monsoon season, the street outside tends to get waterlogged, which can be a hassle. Despite these issues, I feel grateful to have a comfortable home where my family and I can make wonderful memories. I’d love for you to visit someday and see it for yourself. Take care and let me know about your home too! Warm regards, Tahseen

  • visit to a science fair (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to your friend describing the experiences of your visit to a science fair. April 10, 2021 Mirpur, Dhaka Dear Fatin Today I am going to write you about my recent visit to a science fair. My elder brother who studies in BUET invites me to pay a visit to their campus on the occasion of a science fair. Accordingly, I went there and enjoyed a lot. What I saw was a fantastic arrangement of exhibits of all kinds of scientific experiments done both by the students of BUET and by students of other science institutions. The exhibition was being held in a 4-storeyed building. On the ground floor we saw many posters of great scientists of the world like Newton, Einstein, and Prof. Abdus Salam. Some of the wall papers contained memorable statements on the importance of science. The third floor had the most interesting practical exhibits to show. The students of BUET had arranged it. All their exhibitions were the result of their laboratory experiment. One object drew my attention. It was about the optical illusion. A small iron ball was shown to be travelling upward on a narrow plank of board, without any additional help. Later, I realised that the board was originally set with the upside end actually lower than the downside end, for which reason it gave the illusion that the ball was rolling upward, when actually it was gliding down. In the aviation room they put blown up pictures of Apollo 11 making its historic voyage to the moon. A short-film was also shown on the astronauts: Neil Armstrong who first set feet upon the face of the moon, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins. I visited different stalls. I could only guess what tremendous development has been achieved in different branches of science. In the fair I gathered almost up-to-date information about the development of Physics, Chemistry, Medical Science and Technology. Indeed, the science fair increases our zeal about science facts. We feel that we must know more about the mysteries of nature. A science fair has a great educative value. I spent full six hours visiting the science fair and learning and enjoying a world of new things. It has left a deep impression on my mind. That’s all for today. Hope you are in sound health and joyful time. With good wishes. Yours ever, Tahseen Write a letter to your friend describing the experiences of your visit to a science fair. April 10, 2024 Mirpur, Dhaka Dear Fatin Thank you so much for your kind letter. I hope you're doing well. I'm fine too. You asked about my recent visit to the science fair, so I'll tell you about it briefly. These days, science and computers play a big role in our lives, making things easier and more comfortable. Young scientists are always busy with their research, day and night. That's why science fairs have become very popular in schools and colleges in Bangladesh. Almost every year, there's a science fair at our upazila headquarters college. This time, there was one again. Since I'm in the science group, I enjoy visiting government colleges. I went to the fair with my father, who teaches science at a high school. Many students from different colleges joined the fair. The young science enthusiasts showed off their new inventions and experiments, which impressed everyone a lot. I was amazed to see the creativity of our young learners. I talked to many of them and learned a lot of new things. If they're guided well, they'll make our nation proud. So, science fairs are really valuable. They help bring out the hidden talents of science students. I believe every student should visit a science fair. That's all for now. Best wishes to you. Yours sincerely, Masud Khan Write a letter to your friend describing the experiences of your visit to a science fair. April 10, 2024 Dear Masud , I hope you’re doing great! Last week, I had the chance to visit a science fair held at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Dhaka. It was an inspiring experience, and I thought you’d love to hear about it. The fair featured hundreds of projects from schools and colleges across the country. As I walked in, I was amazed by the energy and creativity of the students presenting their work. The first thing that caught my eye was a robotic arm designed by a group of high school students. It could pick up small objects with precision and was programmed using AI to recognize colors. Another highlight was the section on renewable energy. I saw innovative models of wind turbines and solar-powered vehicles. One project that stood out was a “smart irrigation system” designed to conserve water and increase efficiency in agriculture—something I believe could truly help our farmers. There were also fun experiments for visitors. I participated in a virtual reality setup where I explored the solar system, and it felt like I was floating in space! There was even a small planetarium show that explained the constellations and planets in the night sky. The fair was not only educational but also motivating. It reminded me how much potential the young minds of our country have. I wish you could have joined me—it would have been so much fun exploring it together. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Yours ever, Tahseen

  • visit to a local market (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Imagine you have visited a local market. Now write a letter to your uncle describing your experience. April 10, 2021 Mirpur, Dhaka Dear Uncle, Thanks for your letter with a nice gift. Today I cannot but give you a description of visiting a local market recently. I did not have any previous experience of going to market alone and doing shopping over there. This was really a new experience for me. Yesterday mother told me to get her some eggs and other groceries form the local market. I obeyed gladly. Picking up a bag and some money, I cycled down to the nearest market. It was modest in size but catered to the daily needs of the people living close by. As usual there was a lot of activity going on in the shops, and the hawkers seemed to be doing good business too. I bought some chili powder and a tin of cooking oil from the grocery store. Then I went to the dairy shop and bought a packet of milk and a dozen of eggs. Putting them carefully in my bag I came out to find that a man had settled down on the ground with his wares displayed on a sheet. He begged me earnestly to buy something from his colourful assortment of handkerchiefs, ribbons, soap-dishes and packets of safety-pins. I admired his goods but said I would come another day. Picking up my bicycle from the end of the road, I hung my shopping bag over the handle and cycled home. I returned the left-over change to my mother. All I could appreciate in the market except the haggling with the shopkeepers. However, I feel very much interested to go to market from now on. This is all for today. Let me know about your opinion. Best regards to you and aunt. Yours affectionately, Tahseen

  • Visit a zoo (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to a friend telling him / her about a recent visit to a zoo. April 10, 2021 Mirpur, Dhaka My dear Lucy, Thank you so much for your lovely letter. I hope you're doing well, and I'm glad to hear you're interested in my recent trip to the National Zoo at Mirpur. I'm doing fine with my family too. Visiting a zoo is a wonderful experience as it's like stepping into an animal kingdom. It's not just entertaining but also very educational, especially for students like us. Reading books and articles is great, but seeing animals in real life adds a whole new dimension to our understanding of the world. I'm in class XII, and I've been eager to visit a zoo for a while now. Finally, during the winter vacation, I got the chance to go with my uncle, who is the principal of Mirpur Govt. College. We arrived at the zoo gate around 4:30 pm, taking a taxi. We started by watching the monkeys, swinging from branch to branch in their cages. Then, we moved on to see the majestic Royal Bengal tigers and lions in their strong iron cages. We also saw snakes, crocodiles, bears, peacocks, and various birds. The big cats and crocodiles looked fierce and intimidating, but the graceful movements of the deer and the vibrant display of the peacocks caught my attention the most. I met many students from colleges like ours, and I had some great conversations with both boys and girls. We grabbed a light snack at the zoo's canteen before leaving, feeling happy and cheerful. I believe every student should visit a zoo at least once a year. It helps us learn new things, gain valuable experiences, and break the monotony of our daily routines. That's all for now. Sending you my best wishes. Yours always, Sathee Write a letter to a friend telling him / her about a recent movie that you have seen but why you did not enjoy it. April 10, 2024 Dear Lucy , I hope you’re doing well. Last weekend, I visited the Dhaka Zoo, and I couldn’t wait to share my experience with you. It was an exciting day filled with fun, learning, and some incredible sights. The zoo is located in Mirpur and is one of the largest in Bangladesh. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the sounds of birds chirping and animals roaring, which set the tone for the day. The first section we visited was the aviary. There were so many colorful birds, including parrots, peacocks, and even an ostrich! It was fascinating to watch them move around. Next, we went to see the big cats. The lions and tigers were majestic, lounging in their enclosures. The tiger especially caught everyone’s attention with its piercing gaze. I also enjoyed seeing the elephants and giraffes, which seemed to be crowd favorites among children. The reptile house was another highlight for me. There were massive snakes and some unique lizards that I had never seen before. However, not everything was perfect. Some of the enclosures seemed a bit small, and I felt bad for the animals. It made me think about how zoos could do more to create a better environment for them. Despite this, it was a wonderful day overall. I wish you had been there to enjoy it with me. Maybe next time we can plan a visit together! Take care and write back soon. Yours always, Sathee

Both lifestyles foster a sense of community, albeit in different ways. Villages promote close-knit relationships, where individuals share strong personal bonds and rely on one another. Similarly, cities offer a sense of belonging, albeit through diverse neighborhoods and social organizations. However, the environment sets them apart significantly. Villages are characterized by tranquility, fresh air, and lush greenery, offering a peaceful escape from the stresses of modern life. In contrast, cities buzz with energy, featuring modern infrastructure, constant activity, and the occasional chaos of urban sprawl. Opportunities also diverge starkly between the two. Cities are hubs of innovation, education, and career growth, attracting ambitious individuals with their array of universities and multinational corporations. Villages, however, often rely on agriculture and small-scale businesses, limiting professional opportunities. Lastly, social dynamics vary markedly. Village interactions are deeply personal and rooted in communal events, while city dwellers, constrained by hectic schedules, often experience fleeting or impersonal connections. Similarly, leisure options reflect these contrasts: cities boast cinemas, museums, and upscale shopping, whereas villages thrive on traditional fairs and simple pastimes. In conclusion, city life and village life cater to distinct preferences—whether one seeks the excitement and ambition of urban centers or the serene and community-oriented ethos of rural areas. Ultimately, the choice hinges on individual priorities and lifestyle aspirations.   Key Tips for Writing Compare and Contrast Paragraphs 1.       Focus on Key Points:  Avoid including too many points in one paragraph; select the most significant similarities and differences. 2.       Provide Specific Examples:  Use concrete examples to make your points clear and relatable. 3.       Use Transitions Effectively:  Ensure that transitions guide the reader smoothly between comparisons and contrasts. 4.       Stay Concise and Focused:  Keep the paragraph unified around the main idea introduced in the topic sentence. 5.       Proofread:  Check for clarity, coherence, and grammatical accuracy to ensure the paragraph is polished and effective.       More Examples of Compare and Contrast Paragraph Comparing and Contrasting Technical Education and General Education Education serves as the foundation of a nation and serves to enlighten individuals. In this context, both technical education and general education play pivotal roles in a nation's development. General education typically imparts a high level of knowledge to individuals. However, it often fails to equip them for success in their lives because it doesn't provide specialization. Consequently, many highly educated individuals remain unemployed, becoming a burden on the country. On the other hand, individuals with technical education can usually secure employment or become self-reliant. In our current era, where survival of the fittest is the norm, general education often cannot offer suitable job opportunities and mainly produces highly educated clerks. While general education may meet the demand for education, it often falls short in fulfilling one's basic needs. A country like Bangladesh requires dedicated workers, a need that technical education can address. It's surprising to see individuals who complete a medical degree (MBBS) working in banks or commercial institutions, which raises questions about the value of their degrees. General education is more suitable for those with financial means who can contribute to the country through their knowledge. In contrast, technical education focuses on preparing individuals for specific jobs in their respective fields, reducing tension and frustration. In light of our socio-economic conditions, technical education becomes essential. While clerks and officials are necessary, skilled workers are even more critical. We must recognize that there is no alternative to production, and skilled individuals are vital for this purpose. A skilled worker is preferable to a highly educated individual who is unemployed. While both forms of education are valuable in terms of knowledge and education, they need to be distinguished when considering practical value and reality. Offline and Online Classes/ Online Class and Traditional Class Offline and online classes are two distinct approaches to education, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Understanding the differences between these modes of learning can help students make informed choices about their educational journey. Offline classes, conducted in physical classrooms, offer face-to-face interactions with teachers and peers. This environment fosters a sense of community and allows for immediate clarification of doubts. It also offers a structured schedule, promoting discipline and time management. Offline classes are particularly beneficial for hands-on subjects such as laboratory sciences, where in-person experiments and practical work are essential. However, they can be limited by geographic constraints, necessitating travel to the educational institution. Additionally, offline classes may be disrupted by unforeseen circumstances like weather, transportation issues, or health concerns. On the other hand, online classes provide flexibility and convenience. Students can access course materials and lectures from anywhere with an internet connection, making it easier to balance education with other commitments. Online classes often offer a wider range of course options, enabling students to pursue subjects of interest that may not be available locally. They are also well-suited for those who prefer self-paced learning. However, online learning requires self-discipline and can be isolating, as it lacks the in-person interaction and social aspects of traditional classrooms. Technical issues and internet connectivity problems can also disrupt the learning process. In conclusion, the choice between offline and online classes depends on individual preferences, learning styles, and circumstances. Some students may thrive in the physical classroom environment, while others may appreciate the convenience and flexibility of online classes. It's important for students to assess their own needs and consider the specific advantages and limitations of each mode to make the best choice for their educational journey. Life before and after Digitalization in Bangladesh Digitalization has profoundly transformed life in Bangladesh, ushering in a new era of opportunities and challenges that starkly contrast with the days before this technological revolution. Before digitalization, life in Bangladesh was characterized by limited access to information, slow communication, and labor-intensive administrative processes. Most transactions were paper-based, and government services often involved long and bureaucratic procedures. Education was limited to traditional classrooms, and accessing global knowledge and resources was a complex task. The introduction of digital technologies has brought about a seismic shift in every aspect of life. With the widespread availability of the internet and the proliferation of smartphones, access to information and communication has become ubiquitous. Citizens can now access various government services online, reducing bureaucracy and corruption. Education has also been revolutionized, with e-learning platforms making quality education accessible to a broader population. Digitalization has spurred economic growth, as e-commerce and online businesses have flourished, offering new opportunities for entrepreneurs and creating jobs. However, this transformation has not been without challenges. The digital divide remains a concern, as not all citizens have equal access to technology and the internet. Cybersecurity issues have emerged with increased online activities, and privacy concerns have become more pronounced. The speed of change has also placed pressure on individuals and institutions to adapt rapidly. In summary, life before and after digitalization in Bangladesh represents a stark contrast. While digitalization has brought numerous benefits, it has also introduced new challenges and demands. As Bangladesh continues to navigate this digital landscape, it is essential to address these challenges while harnessing the vast opportunities that this technological revolution offers. Life of the Young before and after Getting Used to Social Networks The advent of social networks has dramatically altered the lives of young people in Bangladesh, ushering in a new era of connectivity, communication, and opportunities that are distinct from the days before they embraced these platforms. Before getting used to social networks, the lives of young individuals in Bangladesh were marked by limited means of staying in touch with friends and family, and physical meetings were often the primary mode of communication. Traditional media like newspapers and television were the sources of information and entertainment. The pursuit of knowledge and education was largely confined to schools and libraries. Once young people became accustomed to social networks, everything changed. These platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, opened up a digital realm of connectivity. They could now easily communicate with friends, family, and even make new acquaintances online. The proliferation of smartphones and affordable data plans meant that they could stay connected at all times. Information, news, and entertainment became available at their fingertips, with real-time updates on global events. These platforms also offered educational resources, making learning more accessible. However, this shift also brought about challenges. The digital age has raised concerns about online privacy, cyberbullying, and addiction to screens. It has altered the dynamics of relationships, with some young people reporting feelings of isolation despite being connected online. In conclusion, the lives of young individuals in Bangladesh have seen a profound transformation before and after getting used to social networks. While these platforms offer numerous benefits, it is crucial to address the challenges and maintain a balance between the digital and real worlds to ensure a healthy and fulfilling life in this new age of connectivity. Cities offer better education facilities, including schools, colleges, and universities, which can lead to higher-quality education. There are more employment opportunities in cities, drawing people from rural areas in search of better jobs. Access to healthcare is also better, with numerous hospitals and healthcare facilities. In addition, cities are hubs of cultural and recreational activities, providing entertainment options and a vibrant social life. On the flip side, city life has its share of disadvantages. Overcrowding is a common issue, leading to traffic congestion and pollution, which can affect health and quality of life. The cost of living in cities is often higher, including housing, transportation, and food. This can make it challenging for low-income individuals and families. Urban areas may also have higher crime rates, which can impact safety. Furthermore, the fast-paced city life can be stressful, and the sense of community may be weaker compared to rural areas. In summary, living in a city in Bangladesh offers numerous advantages such as better educational and employment opportunities, access to healthcare, and cultural activities. However, it also comes with disadvantages like overcrowding, higher living costs, increased crime rates, and a more stressful lifestyle. People must weigh these factors and make informed decisions when choosing between city life and rural life in Bangladesh. Another Model Answer City life in Bangladesh presents a multitude of advantages and disadvantages. On the positive side, cities offer a wide array of amenities and opportunities. Access to quality education is significantly enhanced in urban centers, with a plethora of schools, colleges, and universities. These educational institutions often provide a superior standard of learning. Cities also host a multitude of employment prospects, attracting individuals from rural areas in pursuit of better career opportunities. Healthcare facilities in cities tend to be more abundant and advanced, ensuring better medical services for residents. Furthermore, cities serve as epicenters of culture and recreation, offering a vibrant social life and a wealth of entertainment options. Conversely, city living is not without its drawbacks. Overcrowding is a common issue, leading to problems like traffic congestion and pollution, which can detrimentally impact the health and overall quality of life of urban inhabitants. The cost of living in cities, encompassing housing, transportation, and food, is often considerably higher than in rural areas, posing financial challenges, especially for lower-income individuals and families. Cities may also grapple with elevated crime rates, affecting the safety of their residents. Additionally, the fast-paced nature of city life can engender high levels of stress, and the sense of community may be weaker compared to rural areas. In conclusion, residing in a city in Bangladesh offers manifold benefits, including improved educational and employment prospects, enhanced access to healthcare, and a rich cultural and recreational scene. Nonetheless, it is vital to recognize and weigh the associated disadvantages such as overcrowding, higher living costs, elevated crime rates, and a more stress-inducing lifestyle when considering the choice between city and rural living in Bangladesh. Entertainment in Rural and Urban Areas of Bangladesh Entertainment in rural and urban areas of Bangladesh is quite different, shaped by the local surroundings and available resources. In rural areas, entertainment often revolves around simple and traditional activities. People gather for community events like fairs, local festivals, and cultural celebrations. Traditional music, dance, and storytelling play a significant role in rural entertainment, connecting people to their cultural roots. Sports like cricket or kabaddi are popular pastimes, and people often engage in outdoor activities due to the open spaces available. Television and radio also provide a source of entertainment, though access may be limited in some remote areas. Urban areas, on the other hand, offer a wider range of entertainment options. The presence of theaters, cinemas, shopping malls, and amusement parks allows city dwellers to enjoy a diverse set of recreational activities. Concerts, art exhibitions, and cultural events are more readily available, exposing urban residents to a broader spectrum of entertainment choices. In addition, the internet and digital media have opened up a world of entertainment possibilities, from streaming movies and TV shows to online gaming and social media engagement. Urban areas often have a vibrant nightlife with restaurants, bars, and clubs that cater to those seeking evening entertainment. However, there are also challenges in urban areas, such as the high cost associated with some forms of entertainment and the potential for a more isolated lifestyle due to the fast-paced nature of city living. In summary, entertainment in rural and urban areas of Bangladesh varies significantly. Rural entertainment is often rooted in tradition and community gatherings, while urban areas offer a wider array of modern entertainment options. Each setting has its unique charm and challenges, and people's choices often depend on their surroundings and personal preferences. Comparing and Contrasting Democracy and Autocracy Democracy and autocracy represent two fundamentally distinct forms of government, each with its own set of characteristics, advantages, and drawbacks. A democracy, as seen in many Western nations, is a system of government where power rests with the people. In this setup, citizens participate in decision-making through free and fair elections, ensuring their voices are heard. The key principles of democracy include the protection of individual rights and freedoms, the rule of law, and checks and balances to prevent the concentration of power. It emphasizes inclusivity and is often associated with civil liberties, such as freedom of speech and assembly. In contrast, an autocracy is a system where power is concentrated in the hands of a single leader or a small elite group. Autocratic regimes, such as monarchies and dictatorships, centralize authority, often limiting citizens' participation in the decision-making process. Autocracies may be efficient in making decisions quickly, but they tend to lack transparency and accountability, leading to a potential abuse of power. Individual rights and freedoms can be limited, and political opposition is often suppressed. When comparing these two systems, democracies are typically characterized by greater political stability, the protection of civil liberties, and peaceful transitions of power. In contrast, autocracies can lead to social unrest and political oppression due to the concentration of power in the hands of a few. However, it's essential to note that the comparison is not black and white. Some countries may have elements of both systems, and the effectiveness of each can vary depending on the leadership and the context. In practice, democracies can sometimes be marked by political gridlock and inefficiency, while certain autocracies may experience periods of relative stability and economic growth. The choice between democracy and autocracy often involves trade-offs between individual freedoms and effective governance, and it remains a subject of ongoing debate in the realm of political science and international affairs. Comparing and Contrasting the Family Life and Hostel Life The family life and hostel life of students in Bangladesh offer two distinctive living experiences, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Family life is deeply rooted in the culture of Bangladesh and is marked by strong family bonds and traditions. In this setting, students live with their parents, siblings, and extended family, often in close-knit communities. Family life provides emotional support, a sense of belonging, and access to traditional values and customs. Students have the comfort of home-cooked meals, a familiar environment, and an extensive social network. On the other hand, hostel life is prevalent among students who pursue higher education away from their hometowns. In the context of Bangladesh, it is common for students to live in hostels while attending universities or colleges. Hostel life offers a sense of independence, personal responsibility, and the opportunity to interact with peers from diverse backgrounds. It encourages self-reliance and can foster personal growth. Students in hostels experience a different level of freedom, as they are away from parental supervision, allowing them to explore their own interests and make their own decisions. However, both family life and hostel life have their unique challenges. In a family, students might face restrictions and expectations, and their freedom may be limited compared to hostel life. In hostels, students have to manage their daily needs independently, including cooking, cleaning, and budgeting, which can be overwhelming for some. There can also be a sense of isolation, especially for students who come from close-knit family backgrounds and are suddenly exposed to a more individualistic lifestyle. In conclusion, family life and hostel life in Bangladesh cater to different needs and preferences of students. While family life offers emotional support and cultural continuity, hostel life provides independence and a diverse social environment. The choice between these two lifestyles often depends on individual circumstances, academic pursuits, and personal values, and both can shape a student's overall experience and development. Comparing ring and Contrasting Nuclear Family and Extended Family Nuclear families and extended families are two common family structures in Bangladesh, each with its own distinct characteristics and dynamics. A nuclear family typically consists of two generations living together, such as parents and their children. This arrangement allows for more privacy and autonomy for the nuclear family unit. In Bangladesh, especially in urban areas, nuclear families are becoming increasingly prevalent due to factors like urbanization and modernization. They often prioritize self-sufficiency and have more control over their daily routines and decision-making.In contrast, extended families in Bangladesh encompass multiple generations living together under the same roof, including grandparents, parents, children, aunts, uncles, and cousins. These larger family units create a strong sense of communal support and shared responsibilities. Extended families often play a vital role in the social and emotional well-being of their members, providing a safety net for economic and social challenges. They promote traditional values and customs and encourage a strong bond among family members. When comparing nuclear and extended families, nuclear families tend to have more individual freedom and privacy. However, they might face challenges in terms of child-rearing and emotional support. Extended families offer a robust support system but can sometimes lead to issues related to privacy and individual autonomy. In the context of Bangladesh, the choice between these family structures often depends on factors such as geographical location, economic conditions, and individual preferences. It is important to note that both family structures have their merits and drawbacks, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. The family unit in Bangladesh, like in many other cultures, is evolving, and families are adapting to the changing social and economic landscape while preserving essential values and connections. Ultimately, the choice between nuclear and extended families reflects the diverse needs and priorities of families in Bangladesh. Comparing and Contrasting Fast Food and Home-cooked Food Fast food and home-cooked food are two distinctly different culinary options, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Fast food, often characterized by its convenience and accessibility, appeals to people on the go. It offers quick and easily available options for those with busy lifestyles. Fast food establishments, like restaurants and drive-thrus, provide a wide array of choices, from burgers and fries to international cuisines, and they often come with the convenience of home delivery. However, the convenience of fast food comes at a cost to health; many fast food options are high in calories, saturated fats, and sodium, contributing to health issues like obesity and heart disease. In contrast, home-cooked food, prepared in the comfort of one's own kitchen, offers greater control over ingredients and cooking methods. It allows individuals to choose fresh, healthy ingredients, control portion sizes, and tailor dishes to dietary preferences and restrictions. Home-cooked meals often carry a sense of nostalgia and personal connection, promoting family bonding and traditions. However, cooking at home can be time-consuming, and it may require planning, grocery shopping, and kitchen skills. It can be less convenient for people with busy schedules. When comparing fast food and home-cooked food, it's evident that fast food is more convenient but often less healthy, while home-cooked food offers more control over ingredients and nutrition but demands more time and effort. The choice between the two depends on individual priorities, lifestyle, and health considerations. Striking a balance between the two, by occasionally indulging in fast food while predominantly relying on home-cooked meals, can be a practical approach to enjoy the best of both worlds – convenience and health. Comparing and Contrasting High School Life and College Life High school life and college life in Bangladesh represent two distinct phases of a student's educational journey, each offering a unique set of experiences, challenges, and opportunities. High school, often referred to as secondary education, is typically more structured and rigid. Students follow a prescribed curriculum and have a fixed class schedule. They are closely monitored and guided by teachers and parents, and there is a strong emphasis on exams and grades, as they determine future academic paths. The social environment in high school is relatively homogeneous, with a focus on forming close friendships within a limited peer group. Discipline and attendance are strictly enforced. On the other hand, college life in Bangladesh marks a significant transition. College education is characterized by greater flexibility, both in terms of academics and daily routines. Students have more autonomy in choosing their courses, majors, and class schedules. There is a reduced focus on exams and a greater emphasis on self-directed learning, critical thinking, and research. The social environment becomes more diverse, with students coming from various backgrounds, regions, and even countries. This diversity encourages exposure to different perspectives and ideas. College life fosters personal growth, independence, and decision-making skills. However, with this newfound freedom come additional responsibilities, both academically and personally. College students must manage their time effectively, navigate more complex course content, and balance academic commitments with personal and extracurricular activities. Moreover, the pressure to succeed in college is often higher, as it sets the stage for future career prospects. In summary, high school life and college life in Bangladesh differ significantly in terms of structure, academic focus, and social dynamics. High school provides a foundation for academic success, while college fosters greater independence and personal growth. The transition from high school to college can be challenging, but it offers valuable experiences that shape a student's future and prepare them for the opportunities and responsibilities that lie ahead. Facebook is also a valuable marketing and networking tool for businesses, enabling them to reach a vast audience. Furthermore, it has played a crucial role in raising awareness about various social and political issues, serving as a platform for advocacy and social movements. However, Facebook is not without its downsides. One of the major disadvantages is the potential for privacy breaches, as personal information can be exposed to unintended audiences. The platform can also become addictive, leading to a waste of valuable time. Cyberbullying, misinformation, and the spread of fake news are other negative aspects of Facebook. Additionally, excessive use can lead to isolation and a lack of real-world social interactions. In conclusion, Facebook has brought about significant positive changes, such as connecting people, facilitating business growth, and serving as a platform for social causes. Nonetheless, it also presents challenges, including privacy concerns, addiction, and the spread of harmful content. To maximize the benefits of Facebook while mitigating the disadvantages, users should exercise caution and make conscious choices regarding their online presence and interactions. Uses and Abuses of Satellite TV Channels Satellite TV channels in Bangladesh have become an integral part of modern life, offering both valuable uses and potential for abuses. On the positive side, these channels provide access to a wide array of information and entertainment, bridging geographical and cultural gaps. Educational channels deliver content that aids students' learning, while news channels keep the public informed about current events. Satellite TV also promotes cultural exchange, as it broadcasts international programs, helping to foster a global perspective. Additionally, these channels contribute to the entertainment industry by showcasing local talent through music and drama programs. However, the proliferation of satellite TV channels also presents the potential for abuse. Some channels may broadcast inappropriate or sensational content that negatively impacts viewers, especially children and teenagers. This can include explicit content, violence, and distorted information. Furthermore, the constant exposure to advertisements and consumerism can lead to excessive materialism and financial strain on households. Additionally, the spread of biased or sensational news can contribute to social and political polarization. Finally, the immense popularity of satellite TV can also lead to sedentary lifestyles and reduced physical activity, contributing to health problems. In conclusion, satellite TV channels in Bangladesh have significant positive uses, providing education, cultural exchange, and entertainment. However, they also have the potential for abuses, disseminating inappropriate content, consumerism, and biased information. The challenge lies in striking a balance by regulating content to ensure that the benefits of satellite TV are maximized while reducing its negative impacts on society. Responsible consumption, parental guidance, and regulatory measures can help mitigate the potential abuses associated with satellite television. Country Life and City Life/ Country vs City Life Country Life and Rural Life Country life and city life in Bangladesh offer contrasting lifestyles, each with its own unique advantages and drawbacks. In rural areas, or country life, the pace of living is typically slower, marked by close-knit communities and a strong sense of togetherness. People in these areas often engage in agriculture, contributing to the country's primary livelihood, and maintain a connection with nature. Rural life offers tranquillity and fresh air, along with the opportunity for children to grow up in a more spacious and natural environment. On the other hand, city life in Bangladesh is characterized by hustle and bustle, with fast-paced urban centers serving as economic hubs. Cities offer a wide range of job opportunities, education options, and cultural experiences. The access to amenities like healthcare, entertainment, and shopping is more extensive. Rajshahi Board-2023 Sub Code 107 Time : 3 hours English (Compulsory) 2nd Paper Total Marks : 100 [According to the Syllabus of 2023] [N.B. The figures in the right margin indicate full marks.] PART-1: READING TEST [60 Marks] 1. Read the passage and answer the questions A and B. The famous Greek philosopher Aristotle said, "Man is by nature a social animal." What he meant was that man by instinct seeks the company of others and establishes relationships, much like most animals of the wild, for companionship and for physical and emotional support. Unlike the animals, however, man's relationships give meaning to his existence and inspire him to do well in education, in the workplace, or in a profession that he pursues. Relationships are of different kinds. Some are familial and intimate, formed by blood and by marriage; some are social, like the ones we have with friends, and some are made in school, where we form close bonds with classmates and teachers. Relationships can also be fostered in the workplace, which may quickly change from professional to social. There are relationships also between human beings and animals, between children and their toys that they cannot part with. All these relationships keep us close to each other and provide us all kinds of support, love, and affection. A person who has no family feels the pain of loneliness and isolation. There is no one to laugh or cry with him/her. When we share our joy with someone, it simply redoubles, and when we suffer a loss and someone shares our sorrow, it lessens. Relationships are thus needed for our emotional health. To build relationships, we need to have trust and respect for each other, and love where this is needed. We cannot be selfish and possessive if we want to establish an effective relationship. But quite often, we see people quarrelling and fighting with each other, which only brings misery and loss to all. A. According to Dr. Sunall Sharma, a Dietician & Nutritionist, "Commercial products including salted snack foods, chewing gum, candy, sugary desserts, fried fast food, and sweetened carbonated beverages that have little or no nutritional value but are high in calories, salt and fats may be considered Junk foods. Though not all fast foods are Junk foods, a great number of them are. For instance, a salad may be fast food but is definitely not Junk food. Some foods like burgers, pizzas, and tacos may alternate between Junk and healthy categories depending on the ingredients, calories and process of manufacturing." Frequent consumption of Junk food increases the intake of excess fat, simple carbohydrates, and processed sugar which may lead to a higher risk of obesity and cardiovascular diseases, among other chronic health problems. The resulting obesity may begin clogging up the arteries and lay the basis of an impending heart attack. It has also been suggested that eating junk food affects the brain in the same way as consuming addictive drugs. • women’s contribution to the development of our country. (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to your friend describing the women’s contribution to the development of our country. April 10, 2021 Mirpur, Dhaka My Dear Abid, I received your letter on the 5th instant. You have mentioned that you are going to participate in a seminar. For that reason you need some information regarding the contribution of our women to the development of the country. Indeed it is a nice topic to discuss. Well, here it is. The role of women in nation building cannot be denied any more in the situation of the world. About 50% of total population of our country is women. They are contributing a great deal to the development of our country. They play a significant role at home and at outside. As a mother in a family she manages her family well with her intelligence. This affects our economy indirectly and positively. In fact, there are two types of women in our country --- educated and uneducated. The educated women are mostly engaged in teaching and a small percentage of them work in offices and factories. The uneducated women usually work as farmers, brick clinkers, construction workers, garment workers etc. Our agriculture is not possible without the active participation of women. In the garment sector our women’s contribution is far greater than men’s. Moreover, our rural women-folks contribute to the cottage industry which boosts up our national economy. Recently being trained by government and non-government organizations, they are making different products. Nevertheless there are few opportunities, our women are eager to share the burden with the male member to maintain a family in this age of price-hike. With their collective efforts our economy is developing day by day. Hence there is a great deal of contribution of women to the development of our nation. I think this will satisfy your curiosity in brief. Hoping to hear from you. With best wishes. Yours ever, Tahseen Write a letter to your friend describing the women’s contribution to the development of our country. April 10, 2024 Dear Abid, I hope you're doing well. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the powerful role women have played in the development of our country, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you. Women have always been at the heart of Bangladesh’s progress. From our struggle for independence, women were key players in the Liberation War of 1971. They fought side by side with men, serving as soldiers, nurses, and leaders, often under dangerous circumstances. Their bravery and strength were crucial to the success of the war, even though their contributions are sometimes overlooked. Figures like Begum Khaleda Zia and Fatema Sultana are among the many women whose efforts were pivotal during that time. In the years since, women in Bangladesh have made remarkable strides in various fields. Today, women are prominent in politics, business, education, and social work. Sheikh Hasina, our Prime Minister, has led the country for several years and has been instrumental in advancing women's rights and welfare. Additionally, women in rural areas have made great strides in entrepreneurship and agricultural development, helping to drive economic growth. It’s inspiring to see how women continue to break barriers and lead in so many different sectors. Their contribution to the development of our country is invaluable, and we should all acknowledge and celebrate it. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this. Take care, Tahseen

  • Deterioration of law and order (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about the deterioration of law and order situation. 10 April 2024 The Editor, The Bangladesh Observer, Toyenbee Circular Road, Dhaka. Sir, I would be grateful if you could publish the following letter in your esteemed daily regarding the deterioration of law and order in Mirpur area. Deterioration of Law and Order Situation It is deeply concerning that the law and order situation in Mirpur area has significantly worsened. The entire locality is under the control of hardened criminals, who brazenly engage in activities such as killings, hijackings, and armed robberies in broad daylight. There seems to be no one capable of challenging their reign of terror. Residents live in constant fear, lacking any sense of security. Each moment is fraught with anxiety, as anyone could easily become a victim of these criminals. In essence, the entire area is under the sway of criminal elements. In light of these circumstances, it is imperative for the government to take proactive measures to ensure the safety of the people. Law enforcement agencies, particularly the police, need to be more vigilant and proactive in maintaining law and order. We earnestly hope that the concerned authorities will address this pressing issue with urgency. Yours truly, A. Rahman On behalf of the affected residents Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about the deterioration of law and order situation. 2 March 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Observer Motijheel, Dhaka Dear Sir, I would be very grateful if you could publish the following letter in your esteemed daily. Yours faithfully, Md. Matin 10, Elephant Road, Dhaka Deterioration of Law and Order Situation in Bangladesh The current law and order situation in Bangladesh has become a growing concern for citizens across the country. The increasing frequency of crimes such as theft, robbery, murder, and violence, along with the rise of organized criminal groups, is a clear indication of the breakdown of law enforcement. People no longer feel safe even in their homes or neighborhoods, and the lack of accountability has left many frustrated and helpless. One of the key factors contributing to the deterioration of law and order is the slow pace of justice. Many criminal cases take years to resolve, allowing perpetrators to escape justice or to continue committing crimes. Furthermore, corruption within law enforcement agencies and the judiciary only exacerbates the problem, undermining public trust in the system. To restore law and order, it is essential for the government to take immediate and effective action. First, the efficiency of the police force must be improved by providing better training, equipment, and resources. Additionally, a transparent and swift judicial process should be implemented to ensure timely justice for victims of crime. Community engagement is another crucial aspect. Local communities should be encouraged to work closely with law enforcement agencies to create safer environments. Citizens should be empowered with the knowledge of their rights and how to report crimes effectively. Lastly, strict action must be taken against corrupt officials who are contributing to the breakdown of law and order. Only with a dedicated effort from both the government and the public can we hope to reverse the current trend and ensure a safer future for all.

  • Rickshaw problem(Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about Rickshaw problem and solution to the problem. 5 March 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Times Motijheel, Dhaka Sir, I am writing to express the grievances of the people regarding the issue of rickshaw congestion through the esteemed columns of your newspaper. Yours faithfully, Ratan Chowdhury 270 Elephant Road, Dhaka Rickshaw Problem Among the various road issues in Bangladesh, the problem of rickshaw congestion stands out as a major concern. The sheer volume of rickshaws often leads to road blockages, causing inconvenience to commuters. Several factors contribute to this problem. Firstly, Bangladesh grapples with a significant population challenge, with many citizens living below the poverty line. Rural areas face a scarcity of employment opportunities, prompting individuals to migrate to urban centers in search of work. However, job opportunities in cities are also limited, leading many to turn to rickshaw pulling as a means of livelihood. Consequently, the number of rickshaws on the roads continues to rise steadily. Furthermore, many rickshaw pullers lack education and awareness of traffic regulations, often disregarding traffic rules and parking their vehicles haphazardly. This lack of civic sense exacerbates the congestion issue. Addressing this problem requires a multifaceted approach. Firstly, efforts should be made to raise awareness among rickshaw pullers about traffic rules and responsible road behavior. Additionally, creating employment opportunities and providing access to easy loans can empower them to pursue alternative livelihoods. Technical and vocational training programs can equip them with skills for employment in various sectors. Moreover, collaboration from affluent individuals and the government is crucial. Financial support from wealthier members of society can aid rickshaw pullers in transitioning to alternative occupations. Additionally, the government should explore alternative modes of transportation and invest in infrastructure development, such as implementing one-way systems and constructing wider roads with designated lanes for rickshaws. By adopting these measures, we can alleviate the issue of rickshaw congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow for all road users. Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about Rickshaw problem and solution to the problem. 5 March 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Times Motijheel, Dhaka Sir, I am writing to share the concerns of the people about the problem of rickshaw congestion, which is a major issue on the roads of Bangladesh. Yours faithfully, Ratan Chowdhury 270 Elephant Road, Dhaka Rickshaw Problem One of the biggest traffic problems in Bangladesh is rickshaw congestion. There are so many rickshaws on the roads that they block traffic and make it difficult for people to travel. This problem is caused by several reasons. First, many people in Bangladesh live in poverty and do not have jobs in rural areas. They move to cities in search of work, but there are not enough jobs in the cities. As a result, many people become rickshaw pullers to earn a living, which increases the number of rickshaws on the roads. Second, many rickshaw pullers do not have proper education and do not know the traffic rules. They often park their rickshaws in the wrong places, which makes the traffic worse. To solve this problem, we need to take several steps. First, we should teach rickshaw pullers about traffic rules and the importance of following them. We should also help them find other ways to earn money, like giving them loans or providing job training. It is also important for rich people and the government to help. Wealthy people can support rickshaw pullers in finding new jobs, and the government can make better roads and create new ways of transport, like one-way streets and bigger roads with special lanes for rickshaws. By doing all this, we can reduce rickshaw congestion and make the roads safer and easier for everyone.

  • Acid throwing and solution (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper stating the cause of acid throwing and solution to the problem. 5 April 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Times Sir, I am writing to raise awareness about the grave issue of acid throwing through the esteemed columns of your newspaper. Yours faithfully, Md. Sadiq 30 Mohammadpur, Dhaka Acid Throwing-a Growing Concern Acid throwing is undoubtedly one of the most abhorrent crimes plaguing our society today. Sadly, it has become increasingly rampant in our country, with reports of such incidents making headlines in newspapers almost daily. This heinous act is often perpetrated by individuals driven by frustration, particularly in cases involving failed romantic relationships. When these individuals are unable to win the affection of their beloved, they resort to seeking revenge through the horrifying act of acid throwing. The consequences of acid attacks are devastating, with many victims succumbing to their injuries or enduring a life of physical and emotional suffering. The corrosive nature of acid disfigures their bodies, leaving them with permanent scars and often resulting in physical disabilities. Acid throwing epitomizes the epitome of inhumanity and barbarism, reducing individuals to beasts in their cruel actions. Addressing this issue requires concerted efforts on multiple fronts. Firstly, there is an urgent need to enhance the overall law and order situation in the country. Law enforcement agencies must remain vigilant and take swift action against perpetrators of such crimes. Exemplary punishment should be meted out to those found guilty, in line with the government's legislation on capital punishment for acid throwers. Additionally, the judicial system must ensure prompt and efficient delivery of justice to prevent any sense of impunity among offenders. Moreover, proactive measures such as increasing the deployment of law enforcement personnel at critical locations can serve as a deterrent to potential offenders. Providing alternative employment opportunities to marginalized individuals may also help in curbing their involvement in criminal activities. Furthermore, it is essential for individuals from all walks of life to actively promote moral values and condemn such atrocious acts. Only through collective efforts can we hope to eradicate the scourge of acid throwing from our society and ensure a safer, more humane future for all. Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper stating the cause of acid throwing and solution to the problem. 2 March 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Observer Motijheel, Dhaka Dear Sir, I would be very grateful if you could publish the following letter in your esteemed daily. Yours faithfully, Md. Matin 10, Elephant Road, Dhaka Acid Throwing in Bangladesh: Causes and Solutions Acid throwing remains one of the most heinous crimes in Bangladesh, leaving victims physically scarred and emotionally devastated for life. This brutal act, predominantly targeting women, stems from a variety of underlying causes, all of which demand urgent attention. The primary motivation behind acid attacks is often personal vengeance, stemming from rejected romantic advances, marital disputes, or land disputes. In many cases, perpetrators use acid as a weapon due to its accessibility and the belief that the law will not hold them accountable. A lack of strict regulations on the sale of acid, coupled with inadequate law enforcement, perpetuates this crime. To combat this menace, comprehensive measures must be implemented. First, the government should enforce stringent regulations on the production, sale, and distribution of acid. Vendors must be required to maintain detailed records of buyers, and unauthorized sales should be met with severe penalties. Second, public awareness campaigns are essential to educate people about the consequences of acid attacks and the importance of gender equality. Schools and community programs should emphasize conflict resolution and non-violent communication. Third, law enforcement agencies must ensure swift investigation and prosecution of acid attack cases. Establishing special tribunals for such crimes can expedite justice and serve as a deterrent. Victims should also be provided with medical, legal, and psychological support to help them rebuild their lives. By addressing the root causes and ensuring strict enforcement of laws, we can eradicate this horrific crime and create a safer society for all. Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper stating the cause of acid throwing and solution to the problem. 2 March 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Observer Motijheel, Dhaka Dear Sir, I would be very thankful if you could publish the following letter in your respected newspaper. Yours faithfully, Md. Matin 10, Elephant Road, Dhaka Acid Attacks in Bangladesh: Reasons and Solutions Acid attacks are a very cruel crime in Bangladesh. Many people, especially women, suffer from this. It leaves them with terrible injuries and emotional pain. This crime happens for several reasons, and we must stop it as soon as possible. The main cause of acid attacks is personal anger. People throw acid because of rejected love proposals, family fights, or land problems. Acid is easy to buy, and many criminals think they will not be punished for their actions. This makes the problem worse. To solve this, the government must take strong action. First, there should be strict rules on who can buy and sell acid. Shops must keep records of buyers, and illegal sales should be punished. Second, people need to understand how bad acid attacks are. Schools, families, and communities should teach respect and peaceful ways to solve problems. Third, the police must act quickly to catch and punish those who commit these crimes. Special courts can help give justice faster. Victims also need support like medical care, counseling, and legal help to recover and start a new life. If we work together to stop acid attacks and punish the criminals, we can make Bangladesh safer for everyone.

  • Hijacking and solution (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about Hijacking and solution to the problem in Bangladesh. 10 April 2021 The Editor The Bangladesh Times Sir, I am writing to bring attention to the pressing issue of hijacking through the esteemed columns of your newspaper. Yours faithfully, Md. Nazmul Hossain 10 Mohammadpur, Dhaka Hijacking Hijacking has become alarmingly prevalent in our country in recent times, with reports of numerous incidents appearing in the daily newspapers on a regular basis. It appears that hijackers operate with impunity, dictating terms with no opposition. This sense of lawlessness has created a climate of fear, making it risky for individuals to travel alone on the roads. The safety of life in our towns and cities is under threat, as hijackers resort to violence, including stabbing or killing their victims if they do not find valuables. Hijackers are often well-organized, meticulously planning their operations and arming themselves with weapons such as knives, bombs, or guns. Despite occasional attempts to thwart their actions, they often succeed in seizing valuables without encountering any significant resistance. Unfortunately, bystanders and even law enforcement personnel often fail to intervene, leaving victims to fend for themselves. Various factors contribute to the prevalence of hijacking, including socioeconomic conditions and the lure of quick money for individuals addicted to vices like gambling, drinking, or drug use. Addressing this issue requires a concerted effort. Firstly, there is a critical need to improve the overall law and order situation in the country. Law enforcement agencies must remain vigilant and take decisive action against hijackers. Exemplary punishment should be meted out to deter future incidents. Additionally, the judicial system must ensure swift and fair justice delivery to prevent any sense of impunity among offenders. Moreover, deploying more law enforcement personnel at key locations and providing alternative employment opportunities could dissuade individuals from engaging in criminal activities like hijacking. Furthermore, it is essential for people from all walks of life to promote moral values and condemn such criminal behavior actively. Only through collective action can we hope to curb the menace of hijacking and ensure the safety and security of our communities. Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about Hijacking  and solution to the problem in Bangladesh. 2 March 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Observer Motijheel, Dhaka Dear Sir, I would be very grateful if you could publish the following letter in your esteemed daily. Yours faithfully, Md. Matin 10, Elephant Road, Dhaka Hijacking in Bangladesh: A Growing Concern Hijacking has become a persistent and alarming issue in Bangladesh, particularly in urban areas. Every day, countless citizens fall victim to this crime, losing their hard-earned money, belongings, and sometimes even their lives. This growing menace not only endangers public safety but also undermines societal trust and order. The root causes of hijacking are deeply entrenched in economic disparity, unemployment, and the lack of education. Many perpetrators resort to such crimes out of desperation, while others are influenced by organized gangs or criminal networks. The lack of effective law enforcement further emboldens these individuals, as victims rarely see justice being served. To address this issue, a multi-faceted approach is essential. First, the government must strengthen law enforcement by increasing police presence in vulnerable areas, particularly during peak hours. Advanced surveillance systems, such as CCTV cameras, should be installed in crime-prone zones to deter potential criminals and facilitate investigations. Second, addressing the socio-economic factors contributing to hijacking is crucial. Vocational training and employment programs for unemployed youth can provide alternatives to criminal activities. Public awareness campaigns should also educate citizens on safety measures and reporting procedures. Lastly, swift and transparent legal action against offenders is vital to restore public confidence. Collaboration between law enforcement agencies, local communities, and non-governmental organizations can create a united front against this problem. By implementing these measures, we can work toward a safer and more secure environment for all citizens in Bangladesh.

Yours faithfully, Md. Matin 10, Elephant Road, Dhaka Slums in Every City of Bangladesh Slum dwellers are often forced into their precarious living conditions due to various circumstances, rendering them rootless and vulnerable. Living in slums, they endure deplorable conditions, deprived of basic human rights. Approximately 80% of slum residents suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and various diseases, leading to premature death and ongoing struggles for survival. In addition to their harsh living conditions, slum dwellers are often exposed to a society plagued by lawlessness and violence. Many are coerced into engaging in antisocial activities such as hijacking, smuggling, theft, drug abuse, and child trafficking. Furthermore, they are exploited by so-called political leaders, who manipulate them into participating in disruptive activities like hartals, picketing, and damaging public property. It is imperative for both the government and non-governmental welfare organizations to step forward and address the plight of slum dwellers. Rehabilitation efforts are essential to providing these individuals with a chance to escape their current circumstances and build a brighter future. By offering support and opportunities for improvement, we can empower slum residents to break free from the cycle of poverty and deprivation. Thank you for considering the publication of this letter. Matin Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about slums in every city of Bangladesh and solution to the problem. 2 March 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Observer Motijheel, Dhaka Dear Sir, I would be very grateful if you could publish the following letter in your esteemed daily. Yours faithfully, Md. Matin 10, Elephant Road, Dhaka Slums in Every City of Bangladesh The prevalence of slums in every city of Bangladesh has become a pressing issue that demands immediate attention. These informal settlements house thousands of families living in deplorable conditions, struggling to meet even their basic needs. Slum dwellers lack access to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare, leading to widespread malnutrition, disease, and premature deaths. Additionally, the overcrowded and unsafe environment often fosters criminal activities. Many residents, out of desperation or coercion, get involved in illegal practices such as theft, drug trafficking, and other antisocial activities. These slums also become breeding grounds for social unrest, with marginalized individuals manipulated into participating in violent protests and political disruptions. To address this issue, both the government and non-governmental organizations must work together to create sustainable solutions. Affordable housing projects should be implemented in urban areas to provide better living conditions for low-income families. Simultaneously, rural development programs must focus on improving education, healthcare, and employment opportunities to reduce migration to cities. Existing slums need to be upgraded with proper infrastructure, including clean water, sanitation, and healthcare facilities. Furthermore, vocational training programs and community engagement initiatives can empower slum residents to contribute positively to society. By prioritizing these actions, we can not only uplift the lives of slum dwellers but also promote a more harmonious and equitable urban environment. Thank you for considering the publication of this letter. Yours faithfully, Md. Matin

  • Medical facilities (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper demanding better medical facilities in government hospitals. 2 April 2020 The Editor The Bangladesh Observer Dhaka Dear Sir, I would be delighted if you could publish the following letter in your esteemed daily. Yours faithfully, Mustafizur Rahman 314 Elephant Road, Dhaka Demanding Better Medical Facilities in Government Hospitals The healthcare facilities provided in government hospitals in Bangladesh are among the poorest globally. With one doctor for every 12,119 people, one hospital bed for every 5,474 people, and one nurse for every 59,566 people, the provision of basic medical care is severely inadequate. This scarcity of medical resources poses significant challenges in catering to the needs of the growing population, leading to serious health and sanitation issues. Insufficient medical facilities result in increased mortality rates and the prevalence of diseases. Furthermore, poor health adversely affects individuals' productivity, consequently impacting agricultural and industrial output. This situation perpetuates a cycle of hardship, making it difficult for people to lead comfortable lives. Annually, many lives are lost due to the lack of proper medical care and facilities. Countless individuals suffer from various diseases, ultimately succumbing to their illnesses. This dire state of healthcare accessibility underscores the urgent need for improvement in medical facilities across the country. Thank you for considering the publication of this letter. Yours faithfully, Mustafizur Rahman Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper demanding better medical facilities in government hospitals. 2 April 2020 The Editor The Bangladesh Observer Dhaka Dear Sir, I would be delighted if you could publish the following letter in your esteemed daily. Yours faithfully, Mustafizur Rahman 314 Elephant Road, Dhaka  Urgent Need for Improved Medical Facilities in Government Hospitals Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to draw attention to the critical state of medical facilities in government hospitals, an issue that demands immediate action. As a concerned citizen, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by patients due to inadequate infrastructure, shortage of staff, and lack of essential medical equipment in many government-run healthcare institutions. Government hospitals are the only source of affordable medical care for a large section of our population, particularly the economically weaker segments. However, overcrowded wards, lengthy waiting times, and insufficient diagnostic tools severely compromise the quality of care. In many cases, patients are referred to private hospitals, which they cannot afford, leading to delayed or incomplete treatments. It is imperative for the authorities to allocate more resources toward improving these facilities. Increasing the number of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff, upgrading medical equipment, and ensuring the availability of essential medicines are urgent priorities. Additionally, regular maintenance of infrastructure and better management systems should be implemented to ensure efficient service delivery. I urge you to highlight this pressing issue in your esteemed newspaper to garner public attention and prompt the government to take immediate action. The health and well-being of countless individuals depend on it. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust your platform will play a pivotal role in advocating for this critical cause.
