Demanding Better Medical Facilities in Government Hospitals
The healthcare facilities provided in government hospitals in Bangladesh are among the poorest globally. With one doctor for every 12,119 people, one hospital bed for every 5,474 people, and one nurse for every 59,566 people, the provision of basic medical care is severely inadequate. This scarcity of medical resources poses significant challenges in catering to the needs of the growing population, leading to serious health and sanitation issues.
Insufficient medical facilities result in increased mortality rates and the prevalence of diseases. Furthermore, poor health adversely affects individuals' productivity, consequently impacting agricultural and industrial output. This situation perpetuates a cycle of hardship, making it difficult for people to lead comfortable lives.
Annually, many lives are lost due to the lack of proper medical care and facilities. Countless individuals suffer from various diseases, ultimately succumbing to their illnesses. This dire state of healthcare accessibility underscores the urgent need for improvement in medical facilities across the country.
Thank you for considering the publication of this letter.
Yours faithfully,
Mustafizur Rahman
