My dear ‘Abid’,
Your sweet note is just to hand. I am glad to see your interest in our school affairs. You wanted to know if we have observed the 'Nazrul Jayantee'. Well, here it is.
The word 'Jayantee' means a festival for victory or joy. 'Nazrul Jayantee' is held on the 10th Jaistha every year in commemoration of our national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam in the field of Bengali literature. This year on the day of 'Nazrul-Jayantee' many distinguished persons attended the function arranged by us in our school auditorium. The Headmaster of our school took the chair in the function. The enlightened persons spoke on different aspects of Nazrul's literary life. There was competition of melodrama, song and recitation created by Nazrul. You would be glad to know that I have recited the poem 'Bidrohi' of Nazrul and got the 1st prize. The function started at 3 p.m. and concluded at 6 p.m.
This is all for today. Hope to hear from you regarding this. With love and best wishes.
Yours ever,
Tahseen

My dear ‘Abid’,
I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to share with you how we celebrated Nazrul Jayantee, the birthday of Kazi Nazrul Islam, at our school last week. It was a beautiful event filled with music, poetry, and inspiration.
The program began with a speech by our principal, highlighting the life and contributions of Kazi Nazrul Islam, our national poet. We learned about his role as the “Rebel Poet” and how his works inspired freedom, equality, and love for humanity. It was inspiring to hear about his powerful words that continue to resonate even today.
Next, students performed some of Nazrul’s most famous poems and songs. A group of classmates recited Bidrohi with such passion that it gave me goosebumps. The school choir sang Durgama Giri Kantar Moru, which filled the hall with energy and pride. There was also a drama based on Nazrul’s life, showcasing his struggles and his determination to fight against injustice.
After the performances, there was a quiz competition about Nazrul’s life and works. I participated and was thrilled to win second place! The event concluded with a beautiful rendition of the national anthem, written by Nazrul himself.
The day left me with a deeper appreciation for Nazrul’s legacy. It reminded me of the importance of standing up for what’s right and staying true to our values. I wish you could have joined—it was a truly memorable celebration.
Take care and write back soon!
Yours ever,
Tahseen
