Model-1 10 October 2022 The Deputy Commissioner Barishal Subject: Urgent Concern Regarding the Worsening Law and Order Situation in Barishal Town Dear Sir, I am writing as a concerned citizen and long-time resident of Barishal town to express deep concern about the rapidly declining law and order situation in our area. Over the past few months, there has been a noticeable increase in violent crimes, including muggings, theft, extortion, and even daylight attacks. People no longer feel safe in their own neighbourhoods. Shopkeepers are regularly harassed by extortionists, and those who dare to protest live in constant fear for their lives. Innocent residents, including students and elderly citizens, avoid going out after dark due to safety concerns. The situation has become so alarming that even during the daytime, people feel threatened. What is even more disheartening is the inaction of the local law enforcement authorities. Despite repeated complaints and reports, no significant action has been taken. The lack of visible police patrols and strict legal action has only emboldened the criminals. As a result, residents have lost confidence in the system meant to protect them. We, the people of Barishal, urgently seek your kind attention to this matter. We request you to initiate an immediate investigation into the deteriorating situation and ensure that law enforcement agencies carry out their duties effectively. Over the past few months, this problem has intensified, making life increasingly difficult for female students, teachers, and even working women. Young girls are often harassed on their way to school or college, and the presence of unruly boys near educational institutions and public places has become a daily threat. This has not only affected their confidence but also forced many parents to consider discontinuing their daughters’ education. • A complaint letter to the Mayor of City Corporation Complaining regarding road and drainage problems / Complaint about Damaged Roads and Poor Drainage System (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Application Write a complaint letter to the Mayor of City Corporation Complaining regarding road and drainage problems Model-1 November 5, 2024 25 April 2025 The Mayor Dinajpur City Corporation Dinajpur Subject: Urgent Complaint about Damaged Roads and Poor Drainage System Dear Sir, I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing on behalf of the residents of Birganj, Dinajpur, to bring to your kind attention the worsening condition of our roads and drainage system. For several months, the streets in our area have been in a terrible state due to heavy rains and lack of proper maintenance. Large potholes and broken road surfaces make it nearly impossible for vehicles to move smoothly, and pedestrians are often forced to wade through muddy water. To make matters worse, the drainage system has become completely clogged. During even light showers, water quickly accumulates in the streets because the drains are filled with garbage and have not been cleaned in a long time. This causes severe waterlogging, leading to dirty water entering homes and shops. Besides the inconvenience, it is also creating serious health risks, especially for children and the elderly. Many school-going children are missing classes as they cannot pass through flooded roads. Office workers and shopkeepers are also facing great difficulty in their daily activities. I am writing to bring to your kind attention the severely damaged condition of the roads in the Mirpur-12 area of Dhaka city. The situation has worsened significantly after the recent spells of heavy rainfall, which caused major wear and tear. Large potholes and uneven road surfaces now make it extremely difficult for vehicles and pedestrians to move safely. This road connects several key locations, including schools, hospitals, markets, and residential zones. Due to its poor condition, traffic slows down heavily, and commuters are often delayed while heading to work, school, or important appointments. The absence of proper road dividers and faded markings has made the situation even more dangerous, especially during night-time or in low-visibility conditions. People are being forced to walk through muddy water and face the risk of accidents, injuries, and even diseases caused by the stagnant water. The constant vibration from bumpy rides also causes discomfort to the elderly and patients travelling in vehicles. We had previously informed local authorities, but unfortunately, no action has been taken yet. Therefore, I earnestly request you to take immediate steps to repair and resurface the damaged roads. Regular maintenance and better drainage would prevent such problems in the future. Your kind attention and swift response to this matter would be greatly appreciated by all the residents of our area. Thank you for your time and support. Yours sincerely, Raihan Ahmed Resident of Mirpur-12, Dhaka Model -3 Municipal Commissioner For Drainage Problem Date: April 14, 2025 To: The Municipal Commissioner Chattogram City Corporation Chattogram Subject: Urgent complaint regarding poor drainage system in South Agrabad Respected Sir, I am writing to draw your kind attention to a serious drainage issue that the residents of South Agrabad have been facing for quite some time. The drainage system in our locality is in a very poor condition. During even light rainfall, the roads become waterlogged within minutes, causing great trouble for commuters and residents alike. Our area is slightly lower in elevation compared to the surrounding blocks, which worsens the situation. Rainwater accumulates quickly and takes hours, sometimes even days, to drain out. The blocked and poorly maintained drains contribute heavily to this waterlogging. As a result, people often find it difficult to leave their homes, and children and elderly individuals are at constant risk of falling or catching waterborne diseases. Furthermore, the waterlogging disrupts traffic movement and damages roads, creating long-term hazards. If this issue is not addressed before the upcoming monsoon, the situation will likely become unmanageable. I kindly request you to take immediate and effective steps to clean and repair the drainage lines in our area. A proper drainage plan and regular maintenance are urgently required to prevent further suffering of the people in our community. Thank you for your time and understanding. Sincerely, Md. Rashed Karim On behalf of the residents of South Agrabad, Chattogram Email

  • Danger of drug addiction / a letter of complaint to the DC of Rangpur and urge him to take necessary measure against drug addictions / addicts(Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to your friend telling him/her describing the bad effect/danger of drug addiction. 5th January, 2022 15, Chanmari Road Lalkhan Bazar, Chittagong. My dear Hossain, I hope this letter finds you well. Thank you for your recent letter. I was deeply concerned to learn about your association with drug-addicted peers and your lack of focus on your studies. Allow me to share some insights into the dangers of drug addiction. Drug addiction is one of the most perilous and destructive habits a person can develop. It poses a significant threat to individual well-being and societal stability. Once someone begins using drugs, it becomes exceedingly difficult for them to break free from its grip. It's alarming to note that many young individuals have already fallen victim to drug addiction. The consequences of drug addiction are severe and far-reaching. Not only does it lead to physical and psychological health issues, but it also fuels social problems. Drug-addicted individuals often resort to criminal activities such as theft, robbery, and smuggling to sustain their addiction. Moreover, drug abuse can result in serious ailments such as severe headaches, physical weakness, and high blood pressure, ultimately causing irreparable damage to vital organs like the kidneys and liver. In essence, drug addiction is a path that leads to destruction and eventual demise. My dear friend, I implore you to reconsider your associations and prioritize your studies. Mixing with drug-addicted individuals not only jeopardizes your academic prospects but also endangers your well-being and future prospects. Please heed my advice and steer clear of such harmful influences. Your dedication to your studies is paramount, and I have every confidence that you possess the resilience and determination to excel academically. I sincerely hope that you will take my words to heart and make the necessary changes to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. Remember, your future is bright, and your choices today will shape it for the better. With my heartfelt wishes for your well-being and success, Yours ever, Jubiyar Write a letter to your friend telling him/her describing the bad effect/danger of drug addiction. 5th January, 2022 15, Chanmari Road Lalkhan Bazar, Chittagong. My dear Hossain, How are you doing? I hope everything is going well in your life. Today, I want to discuss something that’s been on my mind lately. It’s about the growing problem of drug addiction and how devastating it can be for anyone who falls into its trap. Drug addiction is a silent destroyer. It doesn’t just harm the person using drugs but also tears apart families and disrupts society. Many people start using drugs out of curiosity, peer pressure, or as an escape from stress. But what seems like a momentary relief often turns into a lifelong nightmare. The effects of addiction are disastrous. Physically, it weakens the body, damages organs, and can even lead to life-threatening diseases. Mentally, it clouds judgment, destroys willpower, and leaves people incapable of achieving their goals or living fulfilling lives. Even more alarming is the social impact. Addicted individuals often isolate themselves, lose respect in the community, and sometimes resort to illegal activities to sustain their addiction. Their families bear the emotional and financial burden, and society suffers as a whole. What hurts the most is knowing that addiction can be avoided with awareness and strong willpower. Life is full of challenges, but using drugs is never the answer. There are healthier ways to cope—through hobbies, exercise, meaningful relationships, and seeking help when needed. I’m sharing this with you not to alarm you but because I care deeply about your well-being. I know you’re wise enough to make the right choices and to influence others positively as well. If you ever feel like discussing this topic further or know someone who needs help, let me know. Together, we can make a difference. Take care of yourself, and I hope to hear from you soon about happier things. Always remember, your health and future are precious. The criminals openly use it for taking drugs. As a result, antisocial activities are on the increase in the locality. For buying drugs, those drug addicts are robbing the passers-by of their valuables. Sometimes, they wander about with illegal arms and ammunition and threaten the people moving on the road to snatch away money from them. In these circumstances, I would be grateful if you could take all-out steps against the drug addicts so that the playground again becomes open for all. I write to express my deep worry about the alarming rise in drug addiction among the youth in our locality. Over the past several months, our village has changed drastically. The number of young people involved in drug abuse is increasing every day. Many of them gather in public places like the market corners, near schools, and even inside the mosque grounds after dark. They take drugs openly and behave violently with anyone who tries to stop them. As a result, our peaceful village is no longer safe. Parents are scared to let their children go out. Local shopkeepers have complained of frequent thefts, and many villagers have been robbed at night. The situation has gone out of control, and local elders and community leaders feel helpless. We believe that if immediate action is not taken, this problem will destroy the future of many young lives and create more crime in the area. We request your kind intervention in this serious matter. Please arrange for regular police patrols, set up awareness campaigns in schools and mosques, and ensure that drug dealers are arrested and punished. Our village people are ready to support any action you take. We sincerely hope you will take this issue seriously and take steps to restore peace in Mirbag. • Reckless driving / a letter to the editor of a newspaper about reckless driving of motor cars in the streets/ Write a complaint letter about reckless driving (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about reckless driving of motor cars in the streets. 10 June 2021 25, Central Road Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The Editor, The Bangladesh Observer, Dhaka. Sir, May I take the opportunity of expressing my grievance to the concerned authorities through your esteemed daily. Reckless Driving In The Streets Street accidents have become a matter of daily occurrence now-a-days in Bangladesh. It has become distressingly common to open the newspaper each morning only to be greeted by reports of tragic accidents on our roads. These incidents are primarily caused by reckless driving, resulting in countless deaths and injuries each year. It has reached a point where one cannot confidently anticipate a safe journey to their destination. The streets seem to belong solely to vehicle drivers, who often behave without regard for safety regulations. Some drivers even operate their vehicles under the influence of alcohol, further exacerbating the dangers on the road. Sadly, law enforcement appears lax, with little attention paid to vehicle fitness checks or the enforcement of traffic regulations. The people of our city are calling for safer roads. We cannot bear the thought of losing loved ones to preventable accidents. Therefore, I implore the relevant authorities to strictly enforce traffic laws and impose severe penalties on reckless drivers. Additionally, I urge for increased vigilance and activity among traffic police officers on duty. Thank you for considering this matter, and I trust that your publication will help shed light on the urgency of addressing this issue. Sincerely, S. Hossain Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about reckless driving of motor cars in the streets. 2 March 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Observer Motijheel, Dhaka Dear Sir, I would be very grateful if you could publish the following letter in your esteemed daily. Yours faithfully, Md. Matin 10, Elephant Road, Dhaka Reckless Driving of Motor Cars in the Streets I am writing to express my deep concern about the reckless driving of motor cars in the streets of Dhaka, which has become a significant threat to the safety of pedestrians and other road users. It is increasingly common to witness drivers speeding, jumping red lights, and ignoring traffic signals and rules, putting everyone at risk. The consequences of this reckless behavior are grave. Accidents are frequent, often resulting in injuries and fatalities. The growing number of motor vehicles combined with the disregard for traffic laws has led to a dangerous environment on the roads. Pedestrians, cyclists, and even other vehicle drivers are frequently at risk of accidents due to the aggressive driving of a few individuals. This problem is exacerbated by the lack of proper enforcement of traffic laws. Many drivers are not held accountable for their actions, and traffic police are often absent from critical points, especially during rush hours. This has created a sense of impunity among reckless drivers, who know they are unlikely to face consequences for their actions. To address this issue, I urge the authorities to increase the presence of traffic police on the streets, particularly in busy areas. Strict enforcement of traffic rules, including heavy fines for traffic violations, would help discourage reckless driving. Additionally, public awareness campaigns on safe driving and pedestrian safety could play an important role in reducing accidents. The safety of citizens must be a priority, and it is essential that immediate action is taken to ensure safer roads for all. Write a complaint letter about reckless driving 6 June, 2022 The Editor The Bangladesh Observer Dhaka Subject: Complaint Regarding Reckless Driving in the Streets Dear Sir, I would be grateful if you could publish the following letter in your esteemed newspaper. Reckless Driving in the Streets Road accidents have become an all-too-common sight in our daily lives. While various factors contribute to the rising number of accidents, reckless driving remains the leading cause. In recent years, the number of motor vehicles in Dhaka and other divisional cities has surged drastically. The ability to afford a car has led many families, particularly from the upper and upper-middle classes, to own multiple vehicles. As a result, young drivers often drive recklessly, playing loud music and violating traffic laws. They frequently attempt to overtake others, which causes dangerous situations on the roads. Sadly, many of these drivers lack proper training in road safety and vehicle control. This dangerous behavior not only leads to frequent accidents but also contributes to severe traffic jams, making it difficult for the general public to commute safely. To address this issue, it is essential to implement stricter driving tests and enforce rules that regulate vehicle ownership more effectively. The authorities must take immediate action to curb reckless driving, ensure that traffic laws are followed, and create a safer environment for everyone. Sincerely, Md. Daudkandi, Comilla. Subject : Request for proper removal of garbage/ waste. Dear Sir, With due respect, I write on behalf of the inhabitants of Palash Ward under your municipality to bring to your attention the challenges we are facing in our area. Palash Ward is characterized by high population density, and all residents are educated individuals. While your municipality is esteemed in the district, it currently grapples with various forms of pollution. One of the most pressing issues we face is odor pollution, primarily due to the mismanagement of garbage. Although there are a few dustbins and trash boxes in the area, they are not promptly or regularly emptied. Consequently, the accumulation of garbage leads to severe odor pollution and contributes to air pollution, posing significant risks to public health. To address this problem effectively, we urgently need additional dustbins and trash collection points in our locality. Proper and regular removal of garbage is essential to mitigate the suffering of city dwellers and maintain a healthy living environment. We kindly request your immediate action to improve garbage management in Palash Ward, thereby alleviating the challenges faced by residents. I am writing to bring to your notice the poor maintenance of the garden near our residential area and the improper disposal of waste. The garden near the residential area was watered regularly, and grass shrubs were trimmed and maintained neatly in the beginning. It has been more than a month now since any kind of maintenance is done in the garden. We have tried to contact the person in charge, but every effort has just been in vain. Another growing issue is the problem of waste disposal. There were people from the corporation collecting garbage for disposal every two days, but it has been more than a week now since they have collected any garbage from our area. This has led to the accumulation of waste, and people have started dumping it in the corner of the street as they have no other choice. Kindly look into this matter and the maintenance of the garden as it would become a huge mess if this continues. It would be highly appreciated if you could also inform the residents that all garbage would be collected and not to throw them out around the street corners. Thank you in advance. The garden, which was once a place of recreation and relaxation for children and the elderly, has now fallen into neglect. It has not been cleaned or maintained for several weeks. Overgrown bushes, dry leaves, and scattered litter have turned this once-beautiful green space into an eyesore. The walking paths are covered in dust and waste, discouraging visitors from entering the premises. Adding to our frustration is the irregular collection of garbage from the locality. Earlier, municipal workers used to collect the waste regularly. But for the past several days, waste has been piling up on roadsides and near the garden area, creating an unhygienic environment and attracting stray animals. As there are no dustbins or proper waste points, people have started dumping garbage wherever they find space. This has not only affected the beauty of our area but is also posing health risks to the community. Children are especially vulnerable to infections due to the foul smell and filth. We sincerely urge the city authorities to restore proper maintenance of the garden and resume timely waste collection. Installing waste bins and launching an awareness campaign could also help reduce littering. Thank you for your kind attention. Yours faithfully, Naila Aziz Resident, Keraniganj, Dhaka

  • For taking steps against anti social activities in your locality / anti-social activities (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Application Model-1 Write to the O.C for taking steps against anti social activities in your locality. July17, 2021 To O.C. Kotowali Thana Chittagong Sir, With due respect, I would like to draw your kind attention on the following fact that ours is a big industrial area in the country. There are different types of big and small industries in this area. But as ill luck would have it, life of our locality is frequently paralyzed due to the failure of electric supply. These are the days of schools and colleges. The students find it difficult at night at the time of electricity failure. Moreover, when there is darkness all around, thieves, and anti-social people set the opportunity to indulge themselves in different anti-social activities. After the evening the paths and roads are crowed of local drug sellers, drug addicted people, muggers, and out-laws. Common people can not go outside of home as well can not expect to come back home safely at home in this situation. Indeed, they can not go against them directly. We have repeatedly complained to the local thana office, but they seem to sleep over there, but of no use. It seems that they do not want to pay any attention. We, therefore, draw the attention of you to look into the matter and take necessary steps to abolish anti social activities in our locality. Yours sincerely Abidur Rahman, On behalf of the sufferers, Patherghata, Chittagong   Model -2 Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper telling about anti-social activities in your locality. The 10th March, 2024 To The Editor The New Nation Chittagong Sir, I would be grateful if you could allocate some space in your esteemed newspaper to highlight the dire conditions of our locality. Yours faithfully, 'Rashid' Inhabitant of Ward No. 39 Activities of Anti-socials Ward No. 39 of Chittagong Municipality lies secluded in a remote corner of the town, making it a hotspot for anti-social activities. Theft and robbery have become commonplace occurrences in this area, with hardly a night passing without such incidents. After sunset, pedestrians are frequently targeted by muggers and hooligans. The entire area is under the sway of hardened criminals, who engage in brazen acts of violence like killings and hijackings during daylight hours. There seems to be no one capable of challenging their reign of terror. As a result, residents live in a constant state of fear, unable to enjoy even a moment of peace. The pervasive threat of criminal activities has left the community in a perpetual state of anxiety, with many enduring sleepless nights. Given the gravity of the situation, it is imperative for the government to take proactive measures to ensure the safety of its citizens. Law enforcement agencies must step up their efforts to maintain law and order in the area. It is my sincere hope that the concerned authorities will address this pressing issue with the urgency it demands. Email Write a complaint letter for taking steps against anti-social activities in your locality. 15 April 2022 The Police Commissioner Rangpur Metropolitan Police Rangpur Subject: Urgent appeal to curb antisocial activities in Kamal Kasna area Dear Sir, I am writing this letter on behalf of the residents of Kamal Kasna, Rangpur, to express our deep concern about the growing number of antisocial incidents taking place in our locality. Kamal Kasna has always been known as a peaceful and friendly neighborhood, but lately, the situation has taken a disturbing turn. Over the past few weeks, a group of miscreants has been gathering near tea stalls, particularly around the main entrance of our residential area. These individuals are frequently seen consuming illegal substances in public and engaging in unruly behaviour. What is more alarming is their habit of harassing women and young girls passing by. Many local residents have also reported incidents of mugging and intimidation, especially during the evening hours. Their presence is not only creating fear and discomfort among the residents but also damaging the image and harmony of our community. Students are afraid to go out, and women feel unsafe walking alone in the neighborhood. Despite repeated warnings from the locals, their activities continue unchecked. We sincerely request you to deploy patrolling teams in the area and take strict action against those involved in such unlawful behaviour. Immediate intervention is essential to restore peace and ensure the safety of our community. We believe your timely action will help eliminate these threats and allow the people of Kamal Kasna to live in peace once again. Thanking you in anticipation. Yours faithfully, Ahmadul Haq (On behalf of the residents of Kamal Kasna, Rangpur)

It is also unbearable situation for you. Now, write to an Editor ventilating your grievances for Load shedding and Power failure paralysing the normal life in your locality. 13th February, 2021 The Editor, The Bangladesh Observer, Chittagong. Respectfully Sir, I would request you to kindly publish this letter of complaint in your esteemed daily newspaper to draw the kind attention of the authority concerned to the grievances against frequent load shedding in our locality. Load shedding and Power failure paralysing the normal life in your locality Load shedding has been almost a daily occurrence in our locality. It is causing great inconvenience to the city dwellers here. The students can not prepare their lessons well. The mistresses of the houses and the shopkeepers face great trouble. The old and the sick become deprived of the use of fans because of power cuts. The Antisocials feel encouraged during load shedding hours. Thus, it has become a major problem in our locality. This unbearable situation is bound to arise unless the proper actions are taken to prevent it. In view of the above fact, the authority is requested to take necessary action to solve this problem as early as possible for the-interest of the suffering people. Thanking you. Yours faithfully, Munna Chowdhury, Ob behalf of the people of the locality. Model -2 Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper about frequent failure of electric power supply in our locality. 25 April 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Times Sir, Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to voice the grievances of the people in our locality regarding the frequent power outages. Frequent Power Outages Our area is home to various industries, both large and small. Unfortunately, our lives are frequently disrupted by power outages. The owners of these factories and industries are facing significant challenges as their production is severely affected by the frequent power failures. Despite this, they still have to meet their financial obligations, leading to some industries having to implement partial layoffs. These outages also impact students, especially during nighttime when they struggle to study without electricity. Moreover, the darkness provides an opportunity for criminals to engage in anti-social activities, leading to an increase in theft, robbery, and other criminal acts in our locality. Despite our repeated complaints to the local WAPDA office, no action seems to be taken. It appears that they are ignoring our concerns. We urge WAPDA to address this issue promptly and ensure a regular supply of electricity to our locality. Yours sincerely, Khokon On behalf of the affected residents Write a letter complaining about frequent power failure in your area. July 2022 The Chairman Gazipur Electricity Board Subject: Urgent complaint regarding frequent power outages in our locality Dear Sir, I am writing to you on behalf of the residents of Auchpara, Tongi, to bring your attention to a matter of serious concern—frequent and unpredictable power cuts in our area. This issue has been persisting for several months and has made everyday life extremely difficult for both the residents and local industries. Auchpara is known as a key industrial zone where a number of factories and small businesses operate. Unfortunately, due to constant power disruptions, production lines are being interrupted, causing significant financial losses to business owners. Many factories have had to shut down temporarily or reduce their working hours, which is also affecting the livelihoods of daily workers and employees. Besides affecting industries, this issue has become a major hurdle for students who are unable to concentrate on their studies, especially during exams. Homemakers are facing challenges in completing daily chores, and the entire community suffers when the power goes out in the evening. Darkness in the streets due to power failure also creates opportunities for theft and other criminal activities, making the neighborhood unsafe. We have high hopes that the Electricity Board under your leadership will treat this problem with urgency. We respectfully request that you investigate the cause of these recurring power failures and take the necessary steps to ensure a stable and uninterrupted power supply to our area. Thank you for your time and understanding. We look forward to a swift resolution to this matter. Subject: Request for Construction of a Road Respected Sir, I am writing on behalf of the residents of Abdullapur village, situated in the Ulkar Astagram Upazila of your district, to bring to your attention the pressing need for the construction of a road in our area. Abdullapur is a remote but densely populated village, with approximately 50,000 inhabitants. Despite its significant population, our village is located 20 kilometers away from the Upazila Headquarters, and there is no direct road connecting us to the town. This lack of infrastructure has severely hindered the daily lives of our residents, who are forced to travel on foot or by boat, especially during the rainy season, to access essential services such as shopping, banking, and healthcare. The absence of a road has particularly affected the students of our village, who face immense challenges in commuting to their educational institutions. Additionally, the lack of access to modern facilities and services due to the absence of a road has compounded the difficulties faced by our residents. In light of these challenges, we earnestly request your intervention in constructing a pacca (metallic) road from our village to the Upazila Headquarters. Such a road would not only alleviate the hardships faced by our residents but also facilitate economic development and improve the overall quality of life in our community. We trust in your understanding and proactive measures to address this critical issue promptly. • Application to the editor about the indiscriminate use of loudspeaker / to the S.P to stop the indiscriminate (random) use of loud speakers (Letter, Application & Email Writing)

Letter Application Model-1 Application to the editor about the indiscriminate use of loudspeaker     04 May 2021 The Editor The Rising Sun Dhaka- 1000 Subject : The indiscriminate use of loudspeaker, its harmful effect and control. Dear Sir Life may become intolerable by the indiscriminate use of some recreational instruments by one's neighbour. Few days ago, there was a marriage ceremony in our next-door neighbour's house. Of course, it was a matter of great pleasure. But one should also be aware of the fact that one's pleasure may be the cause of other's annoyance. My neighbour was totally inconsiderate towards his fellows brothers. The loud rock music-played by the amplifier did not let us study fora single moment on those days. We had exams at that time. Besides, my old grandmother was severely ill who could hardl tolerate it. In spite of knowing all these, they did not care about us. Moreover, they showed indifference when we went to tell them to control the sound. Now I think, there should be strict laws in order to stop such indiscriminate use of instruments so that people may be conscious of its bad effects and be sympathetic with their fellow beings. If all the people are conscious of its bad effect, only then, we all will be able to live peacefully. Yours faithfully Harun Khan Sharsa, Jessor Model -2 May 4, 2021 The Editor The Rising Sun Dhaka-1000 Subject: The Indiscriminate Use of Loudspeakers, Its Harmful Effects, and Control Dear Sir, I am writing to express my concern regarding the indiscriminate use of loudspeakers, particularly during events such as marriage ceremonies, and the detrimental effects it has on the community. Recently, our next-door neighbor hosted a marriage ceremony, which should have been a joyous occasion. However, the excessive use of loud rock music through amplifiers caused significant disturbance to the surrounding households. This posed a serious problem for us, as my family and I were preparing for exams during that time. Additionally, my elderly grandmother, who was unwell, found it extremely difficult to cope with the noise. Despite our attempts to communicate our discomfort, our neighbors showed little consideration and continued with their loud celebrations. I strongly believe that there should be stringent regulations in place to address such issues and prevent the indiscriminate use of loudspeakers. People need to be made aware of the negative impacts of their actions and encouraged to show empathy towards their fellow citizens. Only when everyone is conscious of the harmful effects of excessive noise pollution can we hope to live peacefully together. Thank you for considering my perspective on this matter. Yours faithfully, Harun Khan Sharsa, Jessore Write an application to the S.P to stop the indiscriminate (random) use of loud speakers in the city. October 10, 2021 The Superintendent of Police, Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh. Subject : Prayer for taking steps to stop the indiscriminate use of loudspeaker. Sir, With due honour, I, on behalf of the inhabitants of Brahmanbaria Municipality, beg to inform you that the law and order situation of the municipality has deteriorated tremendously in the recent months. Serious environmental pollution in the town is a great threat to a decent life. Like many other pollutions, sound pollution has become very acute/ serious in this town. Mikes and audio-videos are used at different shops and hotels at high volume to draw the attention of the customers. Besides, the loud speakers and the mikes are used on many occasions for listening to music at high volume. All there things cause acute sound pollution. The acute sound pollution causes serious problems to the students, children and the patients. The serious sound pollution is very harmful to our hearing and nerves. I, therefore, you are requested to take necessary steps to control the serious sound pollution and lessen our sufferings to lead a decent life. Yours faithfully, Zaman, On behalf of the inhabitants of Brahmanbaria Municipality. Write a letter to the Editor of a newspaper on the indiscriminate use of loud-speakers. April 2024 The Editor The Bangladesh Times Dhaka Sir, Through your esteemed daily, I wish to highlight the concerns of our community regarding the widespread and indiscriminate use of loudspeakers. Indiscriminate Use of Loudspeakers The invention of loudspeakers was meant to enhance communication and make life more convenient. However, their misuse has transformed them into sources of discomfort. While initially designed to amplify the speaker's voice to reach a wide audience, loudspeakers are now causing disturbances in our daily lives. These devices are extensively used during social and festive occasions such as weddings, picnics, and birthday celebrations. However, their most disruptive impact is felt in roadside restaurants, where the incessant noise disrupts the surrounding environment. From morning until midnight, the deafening sound pollution interferes with normal activities and affects the concentration of students trying to study. The owners of these establishments seem to disregard the fact that educational institutions, offices, hospitals, and other organizations are located nearby, and that maintaining silence is crucial for their functioning. Moreover, loudspeakers can disturb bedridden patients and individuals engaged in prayer, disrupting both daily peace and nocturnal serenity. We urge the relevant authorities to address this issue and take necessary measures to curb the indiscriminate use of loudspeakers. Sincerely yours, D. Hossain On behalf of the affected residents Email October 10, 2024 The Editor The Daily Star 229 Tejgaon I/A Dhaka-1208 Subject: Urgent concern over excessive and unregulated use of loudspeakers Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the increasing and unchecked use of loudspeakers in various parts of the city, which is now seriously affecting the quality of life for many residents. Loudspeakers are being used in almost every public gathering—be it in markets, on the streets, or during social events like weddings and political rallies. Often, they are played at extremely high volumes from early morning until late at night. In particular, local shops and vendors use them non-stop to promote their services, which becomes unbearable in densely populated areas like Motijheel. Moreover, community functions and late-night celebrations tend to turn into all-night noise fests, disturbing children, students, elderly citizens, and especially patients who need rest and quiet. Events such as Pohela Boishakh, national holidays, and various cultural festivals, though important, often cross the limits of acceptable noise levels. The noise pollution caused by these loudspeakers not only disrupts sleep but also contributes to stress, hearing problems, and overall health deterioration. I sincerely urge the concerned authorities to implement strict regulations regarding the use of loudspeakers. A fixed time frame, sound limit, and requirement for prior permission should be enforced. Additionally, awareness campaigns must be launched to educate the public on the harmful effects of noise pollution. I hope this issue will receive prompt and serious attention. Yours sincerely, Roudiya
