Price Hike of Everyday Essentials Has Become Unbearable

The relentless price hike has made life incredibly difficult for many people. There is no sign that prices in the market will stabilize anytime soon. Essentials like rice, vegetables, oil, fish, and meat have become unaffordable for those with fixed incomes. People are uncertain about their budgets from one week to the next. Shopkeepers offer weak excuses for these price increases.

However, the same items are sold at different prices in different shops, clearly indicating that some shopkeepers or syndicates are deliberately causing this problem to make extra profit. There is no shortage of supply in the market, but you need extra cash to afford basic necessities. Occasionally, the authorities conduct inspections and fine the offenders, but this does not stop them from continuing their actions.

It seems that people have experienced a severe decline in moral values, prioritizing monetary gain above all else. This situation is causing significant stress and hardship for everyone, especially those with limited incomes.

The government must take all necessary steps to prevent further price hikes. Additionally, people need to act with a sense of responsibility to ensure a harmonious society. Working together, we can create a fairer environment where everyone can afford basic essentials.

Sincerely,

Akter Hossain

Escalating Prices of Essential Commodities

In our day-to-day existence, we encounter an array of pressing issues, but regrettably, the recent surge in the prices of essential commodities has emerged as a foremost concern. The costs of our daily necessities are skyrocketing, and this surge is taking an alarming toll on the common populace.

For instance, a kilogram of coarse rice now commands a staggering price of Taka 60, while soybean oil costs Taka 170, kerosene oil is priced at Taka 70, and dal, an essential source of protein, is selling at Taka 180. Furthermore, other staples such as flour, vegetables, fish, milk, and eggs have witnessed significant price hikes. As a result, the purchasing power of the average citizen has been outstripped by these inflated costs. The repercussions of this price surge are especially burdensome for the poor and the middle class.

The exorbitant price of kerosene has dire consequences, particularly in rural areas where frequent power outages are a common occurrence. This severely impedes the studies of rural students who rely on kerosene lamps for their education. This predicament has become further aggravated by the avarice of unscrupulous hoarders, dishonest wholesalers, and traders who contrive artificial shortages of essential commodities. It is my belief that there is no genuine scarcity of goods; rather, it is the malevolent intentions of these unscrupulous traders that lie at the heart of the price surge in Bangladesh.

The relentless increase in prices has already disrupted the normal lives of the people, causing widespread distress. I earnestly implore the relevant authorities to scrutinize this issue meticulously and take prompt and effective measures to alleviate this growing problem.

Subject: Article on the rising prices of essential commodities.

 Sir,

Please permit me to point out the menace of rising prices of essential commodities. I shall be obliged to you kindly publish my views by sparing me a column or two in your esteemed daily.

The rise in the prices of essential commodities has become a very serious issue. The daily necessities of life are becoming costlier with each passing day. Prices of wheat, flour, rice, pulses, sugar, vegetable oil and other basic necessities of life have touched new heights. In fact, there seems to be no limit to galloping prices. The steep rise in prices has severely hit the poor and middle-class people. They groan day and night under the crushing weight of rising prices. The government must realize that the price line is the life line. Big businessmen and hoarders store things in their godowns and create artificial shortages in the market. This leads to an increase in prices. More fair price depots should be set up. Shopkeepers and traders must be ordered to put price lists of essential commodities. Black marketers and hoarders must be dealt with sternly. Much food should not be wasted in parties and marriages. People should understand the value of simple living and observe it in their daily life. Every step must be taken to check the rise in prices. I hope that you will consider my request to publish an article on this important issue in your esteemed daily. Thank you for your time and attention.

Yours faithfully,

Subject: High Price Rise of Essential Commodities

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to express my concern about the sharp increase in the prices of essential commodities.

Although our leaders change every five years, the struggles of the poor and middle class remain the same. Each new administration brings hope, but the hardships continue unabated.

The cost of essential items like rice, oil, lentils, spices, onions, and vegetables has skyrocketed, making them unaffordable for middle-class families, not to mention the lower-income earners and day laborers. The poor are the hardest hit, with even clothing prices reaching unmanageable levels.

Every day, the prices of essential goods, including medicines and clothing, rise dramatically. Middle-class salaried workers find their annual incomes insufficient to keep up with these soaring costs. Wage earners and pension holders are struggling to make ends meet. The price of medicines, in particular, has become unaffordable for many.

In this difficult situation, some dishonest traders are exploiting the chaos for their own gain. If this trend continues, how will the poor survive?

I urge the government to take immediate action. Measures should be taken to blacklist black marketeers and implement price control policies. Without drastic action, the situation may lead to a breakdown in law and order.

Yours truly,

Abdul Awal
