Your passionate letter has anchored timely. I express my heartfelt thanks to you for your kind note. You wanted to know about the destruction that the flood did and how we have been affected. The sufferings of the affected people beggar description. Well, here it is.

The recent flood has done havoc to this area. Before flood there was heavy rainfall for days together. The water began to rise in an abnormal way. Soon it rose above the danger level. Gradually all the lands and roads went under water. The communication was cut off. The crops were destroyed. The houses and cattle were swept away by the current. There was water and water everywhere. No trace of land was found to stand on. Then the boat was the only means of communication for going from one place to another. Some managed to save themselves by climbing on the trees-tops, the roofs of semi brick-built houses. At present the miseries of the people in this area know no bounds. Many of them have become victims to diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases. Some N.G.O’s took steps to fight with this natural calamity. It will take a long time to make up the harrowing toll of distress caused by the flood. I think this is enough for understanding the situation.

I hope this letter finds you well. I wish I could write to you with happier news, but unfortunately, things here have taken a devastating turn. The recent flood in our area has brought unimaginable destruction, and I wanted to share what’s been happening.

It started with heavy rainfall that lasted for days, and soon the rivers began to overflow. Before we knew it, the floodwaters had engulfed our fields, roads, and even our homes. Many people had to evacuate their houses, leaving behind their belongings and memories. It’s heartbreaking to see neighbors, friends, and even strangers struggling to save what little they can.

The fields that were once lush and green are now submerged, and the crops have been completely destroyed. Farmers who had been looking forward to the harvest are now staring at a bleak future. Livestock has been lost, and the lack of food and clean drinking water is making survival even harder.

The flood has also caused significant damage to infrastructure. Roads are washed away, and schools and hospitals are under water. Electricity has been cut off in many areas, leaving people in darkness. The situation is made worse by the spread of waterborne diseases, and medical help is in short supply.

Relief efforts have started, but they are not enough. Shelters are overcrowded, and there’s a dire need for food, clean water, and medical supplies. It’s painful to see the desperation in people’s eyes. Families have lost everything, and the uncertainty of what lies ahead is overwhelming.

Despite the devastation, it’s heartening to see people coming together to help one another. Volunteers and local organizations are working tirelessly to provide relief. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest times, humanity shines through.

I can’t help but think of how fragile life is and how much we take for granted. This flood has left a deep scar on our community, and it will take months, if not years, to rebuild.
