Dear Emon,

I hope this letter finds you well. Thank you for your recent letter in which you asked me to describe the co-curricular activities in our school. I am happy to share with you some information on this topic.

Our school places great emphasis on co-curricular activities in addition to academic pursuits. We have an annual cultural program which is a major event of the school year. It is a showcase of our talents in music, dance, drama, and other performing arts. The event is eagerly awaited by students, teachers, and parents alike.

Inter-school games and matches are held frequently throughout the year, and we actively participate in both indoor and outdoor sports. We regularly play football, cricket, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, and many other games. We also take turns working in our school garden to promote a sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Our school organizes various competitions and events, such as drawing competitions, debates, and speeches, to encourage students to develop their creative and critical thinking skills. We also publish timely half-yearly and annual papers that showcase our writing talents.

Our headmaster is a great lover of music, and he organizes a weekly singing competition every Thursday. This event is very popular among students, and it provides a platform for us to showcase our musical talents.

Every year, we go on a picnic and study-tour, which is always an exciting and enriching experience. Throughout the year, our teachers keep us engaged with various extracurricular activities that make learning more fun and interesting.

In conclusion, co-curricular activities play an important role in our school's curriculum, and they help us to develop a well-rounded personality. I hope this description gives you a good idea of the activities that we are involved in. Please give my regards to your family, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Kabir

A letter to your friend describing him the co-curricular activities of your school / college

12th November 2024

Dear  Emon,

It’s been quite some time since I last wrote to you, and I couldn’t wait to share something exciting about my school/college. Life here isn’t just about textbooks and exams; it’s filled with vibrant activities that make every day unique.

One of the things I love most is our co-curricular programs. Whether it’s the debate competitions or quiz contests, there’s always something happening to keep our minds sharp. I recently participated in a debate championship, and though it was nerve-wracking at first, the experience turned out to be incredibly rewarding.

The cultural activities are equally thrilling. We have regular music, dance, and drama events that showcase the talents of our students. Last month, during our annual cultural festival, I joined a dance group performing traditional Bangladeshi folk dances. The cheers from the audience still ring in my ears!

For sports lovers, there are plenty of options, including cricket, football, and badminton. Our school/college also organizes inter-school tournaments, and the competitive spirit during these matches is unmatched. Even if you’re not a player, being part of the cheering crowd is an unforgettable experience.

The Science Club deserves a special mention too. They host exhibitions where students present innovative projects. This year, they focused on renewable energy, and it was both educational and inspiring.

These activities not only give us a break from academic pressure but also help us discover our hidden talents and build lasting friendships.

I’d love to hear about your school/college life. What activities do you enjoy most? Maybe one day, we can participate in a friendly competition together! Write back soon—I can’t wait to hear from you.

Take care and keep smiling.

Kabir

Dear Ripon,

I hope you are in good health. Mother told me over the phone that you have been very studious lately, always busy with your academic books. While it is great that you are serious about your studies, she also mentioned that you never participate in any co-curricular activities at your school. I am writing to tell you why you need to change this habit.

You must have heard the saying, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Only studying books will not make you a complete human being. Education is not just about passing exams; it is about developing your overall personality. Co-curricular activities like debating, reciting poetry, acting in school dramas, and playing outdoor sports are a part and parcel of a proper education.

These activities play a very crucial role in building your self-confidence and leadership skills. Participating in a debate club teaches you how to speak logically and overcome stage fright. Playing sports like football or cricket teaches you discipline, teamwork, and how to handle both victory and defeat gracefully. They also keep your body fit and refresh your mind, allowing you to study with even more focus later.

I strongly advise you to join at least one club at your school and start spending some time on the playground. It will broaden your horizon and make your student life much more enjoyable.

With best wishes,

Ratan

Dear Ripon,

Take my cordial love and affection. I hope you are keeping well by the grace of Almighty Allah. I received a letter from father yesterday. He mentioned that you have been studying relentlessly for your upcoming exams, but he is quite worried because you have completely stopped participating in any sports or school events. Today, I am writing to remind you about the critical role of co-curricular activities in student life.

While academic excellence is undoubtedly your primary goal, textbook knowledge alone is not enough to prepare you for the challenges of the real world. Co-curricular activities—such as debating, scouting, participating in cultural programs, and playing field sports—are essential for your holistic development. Engaging in these activities removes the severe monotony of continuous studying and refreshes both the body and the mind.

Furthermore, these activities teach invaluable life lessons that you can never learn inside a classroom. When you play on a football or cricket team, you learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, and leadership. When you participate in a debate competition, you develop critical thinking and public speaking skills, which build tremendous self-confidence. A student who balances academic studies with co-curricular activities develops a much broader outlook on life and a more versatile personality.

Therefore, I strongly advise you not to be a mere bookworm. Make a proper routine that allows you to spend at least an hour every afternoon on the playground or participating in a school club. This will keep you physically fit, mentally cheerful, and ultimately help you focus better on your studies.

No more today. Convey my deep respects to father and mother. Take care of your health.

Your loving elder brother,

Ratan
