When the master sat down to eat, he quickly noticed the missing of the leg and asked him about the other leg. The cook told him that the duck has only one leg. The master was not to be fooled and so said that there was no such thing as one legged duck. The cook insisted that the duck had one leg only. The master was very annoyed. At that moment the cook looked out of the window and saw that one of the ducks was standing one one leg and had the other leg folded inside. He drew the attention of his master and showed him that some ducks have indeed one leg. The master clapped his hands loudly and the duck put down the other leg as well and ran off. At that time the master looked at the cook and the cook said that the master was right after all. If he had known this trick, he would have clapped his hands too before cooking to bring out the other leg. Hearing this , the master was very much amused

Once, a cook roasted a duck for his master. The roast looked so delicious that the cook couldn’t resist the temptation and ate one of the drumsticks. He knew that if the master noticed, he would be in trouble, but his hunger was too strong. When the master sat down to eat, he immediately noticed that one of the legs was missing. His eyes narrowed as he looked at the cook and asked, “Where is the other leg of the duck?”

The cook, trying to think quickly, replied, “Master, the duck only had one leg. That’s how nature made it.” The master, who was very clever, was not easily fooled. He raised an eyebrow and said, “A one-legged duck? That’s impossible! There is no such thing.”

The cook, desperate not to get into trouble, insisted, “But master, I assure you, this particular duck was born with just one leg.” The master’s patience was running thin, and he became quite annoyed. He then said, “There is no way a duck could be born with only one leg. I want the truth now.”

At that moment, the cook, looking out of the window, saw a duck standing on one leg in the garden, with its other leg hidden beneath its feathers. A thought struck him, and he quickly turned to his master.

“Master, look outside,” the cook said, pointing. “That duck is standing on one leg just like the one I roasted.” The master looked out the window, and, just as the cook had said, there was a duck standing on one leg. The master, curious, clapped his hands loudly. To his surprise, the duck immediately put down its other leg and ran off across the yard.

The master stared at the cook, astonished. The cook, seeing that the master was not angry anymore, smiled and said, “You were right, Master. I stand corrected. It seems this duck really did have two legs after all.”

The master let out a hearty laugh, amused by the situation. “You clever cook,” he said. “You knew exactly what to do. But remember, honesty is always the best policy.”

The cook felt relieved but also embarrassed. “I will never let my hunger get the best of me again, Master,” he promised.
