IELTS Speaking Part-2 A Useful Website.

Updated: Jan 24

Describe a useful website.

You should say:

  • what it is

  • how often you visit it

  • what kind of site it is

  • what kind of information it offers

  • and explain why you think it is useful.

Well, one website that I find extremely useful is Wikipedia. It's essentially an online encyclopedia where you can find information on almost anything under the sun. I visit it quite frequently, probably a few times a week, especially when I need to research for assignments or just satisfy my curiosity about various topics. What makes it really handy is the vast array of information it offers – from historical events to scientific explanations, it covers a wide range of subjects. It's like having a world of knowledge at your fingertips.

Another website I often use is IMDb. It's a site dedicated to movies and television shows. I'm a bit of a movie buff, so I find myself on IMDb at least a couple of times a week, checking out reviews, ratings, and cast information before deciding what to watch. It's great for discovering new films or TV series, and the user reviews often help me make informed choices. Plus, it's user-friendly and visually appealing, which adds to the overall experience.

Moving on to a more practical website, I rely on Amazon quite a bit. It's an e-commerce site where you can buy almost anything you need, from books and electronics to clothes and household items. I probably visit it several times a month, especially when I need to make online purchases. The convenience of having a variety of products at your fingertips, along with customer reviews, makes it a go-to platform for online shopping.

Lastly, there's YouTube, a video-sharing website that I use almost daily. It's not just about entertainment; it has evolved into a platform for learning and skill development. Whether it's tutorials, educational content, or even just DIY videos, there's always something new to discover. It's a treasure trove of diverse content, making it an indispensable tool for both entertainment and learning.

In conclusion, these websites have become an integral part of my daily life, each serving a unique purpose. Whether it's gaining knowledge, deciding what movie to watch, shopping online, or learning new things on YouTube, they have certainly made life more convenient and enjoyable for me.

Model Answer -2

Well, one website that I find incredibly useful is BBC News. It's a news portal that I visit quite regularly, almost on a daily basis. BBC News is essentially a comprehensive news website that covers a wide range of topics, including current affairs, politics, entertainment, and sports. It provides up-to-date information on global events and offers in-depth analysis on various issues. What I really appreciate about BBC News is its unbiased reporting and the variety of perspectives it presents.

I usually check the website in the morning and before going to bed to stay informed about the latest happenings around the world. The site offers not only written articles but also video reports, which I find quite engaging. The information provided is well-researched and presented in a clear and concise manner. Moreover, the website is user-friendly, making it easy for me to navigate and find the specific news I'm interested in.

The reason I find BBC News so useful is that it helps me stay well-informed about current events globally. Whether it's understanding the latest developments in world politics or staying updated on cultural trends, BBC News has it covered. In today's fast-paced world, being aware of what's happening around us is crucial, and BBC News serves as a reliable source for that. It not only broadens my knowledge but also allows me to engage in informed conversations with others.

To sum it up, BBC News is a website that I value for its reliability, comprehensive coverage, and user-friendly interface. It has become an integral part of my daily routine, helping me stay connected to the world and fostering a greater understanding of diverse issues. Overall, I believe that a trustworthy news source like BBC News is an essential tool for anyone who wants to stay informed and engaged in today's dynamic global landscape.
