IELTS Speaking Part-1 School

How old were you when you started school?

To the best of my recollection, I started kindergarten at the age of four. Then, when I turned six, I moved on to primary school.

Where did you go to school?

I lived on the outskirts of town during my early years, so I attended both primary and secondary schools in my small town. However, when I started high school, my parents decided to move to the city so I could attend a more prestigious school with modern facilities.

How did you get to school each day?

My school was within walking distance, so I walked there every day. Even though my parents bought me a bike to make the journey easier, I preferred walking as it allowed me to get some exercise and strengthen my lower body.

Did you enjoy it?

Yes, absolutely. Unlike some of my friends who had a strong aversion to school and preferred to play truant, I genuinely loved going to school every day. I was eager to learn new things from my teachers and interact with my friends.

Have you ever returned to see your old school again?

Yes, from time to time, when I was on break from work and back in my hometown, I made it a point to visit my old school. It brought back fond memories of when I was a mischievous kid who enjoyed playing pranks on others.

What was your favorite subject in school?

My favorite subject was definitely history. I found it fascinating to learn about different civilizations and historical events. History classes were always engaging, and I loved how they connected the past with the present.

Do you think school prepared you well for your future?

Yes, I believe school provided a solid foundation for my future. It taught me essential academic skills and life lessons, such as time management and teamwork. My education also sparked a love for learning that continues to benefit me today.

Were there any subjects you disliked?

I was never fond of mathematics. Although I understood its importance, I found it challenging and less enjoyable compared to subjects like history or literature.

How did your school experience shape who you are today?

My school experience played a significant role in shaping who I am today. It instilled in me a strong work ethic, the importance of curiosity, and the value of friendships. The challenges and successes I experienced helped build my character and confidence.

Do you think schools should change their teaching methods?

Yes, I think schools should continuously adapt their teaching methods to keep up with the changing world. Incorporating technology and interactive learning can make education more engaging and relevant to students' future careers.
