THE SONG OF A GOOSE

Once there lived a man in a village. He heard that the voice of a goose is very sweet. He also heard that it can sing very nicely. One day he went to market. On the way back home he found a man selling geese at one comer of the hat. He bought a goose and got back home with it.

After some days he invited some of his friends to his house. When the guests were eating, the man brought the goose before the guests and said it to sing songs. But the goose couldn't even make the sound, 'Ra'. After the departure of the guests, he said to his goose, "You've humiliated me in front of my friends. I'll not give you food today." After some days the goose fell ill. When he was dying after some days of illness, he began to sing. The man said, "What's the matter? Why are you singing now?"

The goose said in grief that this happens when death comes to them. The man could not be happy at the words of the goose.

He said to the goose, "If I had known that you couldn't sin other than the time of death, I would have not bought you or I should have killed you on the day I had my guests "

একটি হংসের গান

একদিন এক গ্রামে এক লোক বাস করত। সে শুনতে পেল যে একটি হংসের কণ্ঠস্বর খুব মিষ্টি। সে এটাও শুনেছিল যে এটি খুব সুন্দর গান গাইতে পারে। একদিন সে বাজারে গেল। বাড়ি ফেরার পথে সে এক লোককে দেখতে পেল যে টুপির এক কোণে হংস বিক্রি করছে। সে একটি হংস কিনে নিয়ে বাড়ি ফিরে এল।

কিছুদিন পর সে তার কিছু বন্ধুকে তার বাড়িতে নিমন্ত্রণ করল। অতিথিরা যখন খাচ্ছিল, তখন লোকটি অতিথিদের সামনে হংসটিকে নিয়ে এসে বলল গান গাও। কিন্তু হংসটি 'রা' শব্দও করতে পারল না। অতিথিরা চলে যাওয়ার পর, সে তার হংসকে বলল, "তুমি আমার বন্ধুদের সামনে আমাকে অপমান করেছ। আজ আমি তোমাকে খাবার দেব না।" কিছু দিন পর হংস অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ল। কয়েকদিন অসুস্থ থাকার পর যখন সে মারা যাচ্ছিল, তখন সে গান গাইতে শুরু করল। লোকটি বলল, "কি ব্যাপার? তুমি এখন কেন গান গাও?"

হংসটি দুঃখে বলল যে মৃত্যু যখন তাদের কাছে আসে তখনই এমন হয়। হংসের কথায় লোকটি খুশি হতে পারল না।

সে হংসকে বলল, "যদি আমি জানতাম যে মৃত্যুর সময় ছাড়া তুমি অন্য কোন পাপ করতে পারো না, তাহলে আমি তোমাকে কিনে দিতাম না, অথবা যেদিন আমার অতিথিরা আসবে সেদিনই তোমাকে হত্যা করতাম।"
