The Cunning Fox and the Goat /The Cunning Fox and the Goat / Look Before you Leap / Tit for tat. (Story Writing / Completing Story)

 Fox and The Goat

Once a fox was roaming around in the dark. Unfortunately, he fell into a well. He tried his level best to come out but all in vain. So, he had no other alternative but to remain there until the next morning. The next day, a goat came that way. She peeped into the well and saw the fox there. The goat asked, “what are you doing there, Mr. Fox?”

The sly fox replied, “I came here to drink water. It is the best I have ever tasted. Come and see for yourself.” Without thinking even for a while, the goat jumped into the well, quenched her thirst and looked for a way to get out. But just like the fox, she also found herself helpless to come out.

Then the fox said, “I have an idea. You stand on your hind legs. I’ll climb on your head and get out. Then I shall help you come out too.” The goat was innocent enough to understand the shrewdness of the fox and did as the fox said and helped him get out of the well.

While walking away, the fox said, “Had you been intelligent enough, you would never have got in without seeing how to get out.”

Moral: Look before you leap. Do not just blindly walk in to anything without thinking.

The Cunning Fox and the Goat

Once upon a time, a fox felt very thirsty. He was passing by a well. He was so thirsty that he jumped into the well to quench its thirst. Now he could not get out of it despite several attempts, as the walls of the well were higher than his height. After a while, a goat came there to drink. As she peeped in, she saw the fox inside the well. "What are you doing, there at the bottom of the well?" asked the goat. "I came down to get some of this wonderful cool water", said the fox, pretending everything was alright. "Come on down and try some. It's the best water you'll ever taste', he shouted to the goat. "And there isn't any more water for miles." "I'm thirsty, and that water does look so good", thought the goat. "OK. Look out, I'm coming down, the goat shouted to the fox as he jumped down into the well. Just as the goat started drinking, the fox said, 'There's one small problem. The top of the well is so high it's going to be hard getting out of here. But don't worry I have a plan". If, he said to the goat "you put your front feet on the wall of the well, I'll run up your back and jump up to the top. Once I'm out I'll help you to get out too." The goat did as he was told and the fox leapt onto his back, jumped up on to his horns, and then climbed up out of the well. "That was a really good plan", said the fox. "See you later", he said, looking down at the goat. "But, what about me?" cried the goat from the bottom of the well. "If you had any brains you would never have gone down there until you had worked out how to get out." said the fox. "Alright, bye, bye..bye, it's the fox style. Enjoy your time down there. Ha .... ha..." laughed the fox as he ran away.

The Cunning Fox and the Foolish Goat

One hot afternoon, a thirsty fox wandered through the forest, looking for water. His throat was dry, and his legs felt weak from walking so much under the scorching sun. He desperately searched for a river, a pond, or even a small puddle. Finally, after much wandering, he came across a deep well in an open field.

Curious, the fox peered inside and saw clear, cool water at the bottom. His thirst made him careless, and without thinking, he jumped into the well. He drank the refreshing water eagerly, feeling much better. However, as soon as he was satisfied, he realized his mistake—the well was too deep, and the walls were too smooth for him to climb out. He tried jumping, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t escape.

The fox sat in the well, thinking of a way out. A little while later, a goat happened to pass by. She, too, was searching for water, and when she spotted the well, she came closer. Peeping inside, she was surprised to see the fox standing at the bottom.

"What are you doing down there?" she asked.

The cunning fox quickly thought of a plan. He smiled and said, "Oh, this water is the best I’ve ever tasted! It’s so cool and refreshing. You should come down and try some too. There is no better water anywhere around. If you don’t drink it now, you’ll regret it later!"

The goat, who was extremely thirsty, believed the fox’s words. Without stopping to think, she jumped into the well eagerly. She drank the water happily, enjoying every drop. But as soon as she finished drinking, she looked up and realized the well was very deep.

The goat became worried and asked, "Oh no! How do we get out of here?"

The fox pretended to think for a moment and then said, "Don’t worry! I have a plan. If you stand on your hind legs and press your front legs against the wall, I will climb up your back and jump onto your horns. Once I’m out, I’ll help you get out too."

The foolish goat agreed and did exactly as the fox said. The fox quickly climbed up her back, stepped on her horns, and with a big leap, he jumped out of the well.

The goat looked up at him and said, "Now help me out too, please!"

The fox laughed and replied, "My dear friend, if you had used your brain before jumping in, you wouldn’t be stuck now. Always think before you act!"

Saying this, the fox waved goodbye and ran away, leaving the poor goat trapped at the bottom of the well, regretting her foolishness.

A Clever Crane

One day, a fox saw a crane walking in the distance. The fox looked at the bird and thought, “What a strange creature! It walks on two thin sticks, has a long neck and beak, and barely any head. A bird like that must have no brain at all. But look how proudly it walks! I will teach it a lesson.” The fox laughed to himself and made a plan.

The fox walked up to the crane and said in a friendly voice, “What a fine bird you are! I would love to be your friend.”

The crane was smart and did not trust the fox, but he decided to be polite. They talked for a long time, and before leaving, the fox invited the crane to dinner the next day. The crane, though suspicious, accepted the invitation.

The next evening, the crane arrived at the fox’s house for dinner. The cunning fox had prepared only soup, which he poured into a flat dish. He then invited the crane to eat.

The fox happily licked the soup with his tongue, but the crane, with his long beak, could not eat anything. The fox pretended to be kind and kept saying, “Why aren’t you eating, my friend? Is the food not to your taste?” The crane, of course, understood the trick. Before leaving, he invited the fox to dinner at his own house the next day.

The clever crane wanted to teach the fox a lesson. So, when the fox arrived for dinner, the crane served delicious food—but he placed it inside a tall pitcher with a long, narrow neck.

The crane easily put his long beak inside the pitcher and enjoyed his meal. Meanwhile, the poor fox sat helplessly, sniffing the food but unable to eat a single bite. His mouth watered, and he tried again and again to reach the food, but it was no use.

The crane smiled and politely asked, “Why aren’t you eating, dear friend? Don’t you like the food?” He repeated this again and again, just as the fox had done the day before.

The fox felt ashamed. He now realized that the crane was very clever. As he walked home, still hungry, he muttered to himself, “Tit for tat!”
