10. Paragraph on "Drug Addiction"

Drug addiction is one of the most serious problems in the modern world, often referred to as a "slow poison" that destroys the lives of countless individuals. It refers to the uncontrollable urge to use harmful substances like heroin, phensedyl, cannabis, or yaba, which deeply damage both the physical and mental health of the user. There are several reasons why young people fall into this trap. Often, frustration caused by unemployment, the influence of bad company, or simple curiosity to experience something new leads them toward this dark path. Once someone starts using drugs, they become addicted and find it extremely difficult to break free from the cycle. The effects of drug addiction are devastating. It not only ruins the health of the addict, causing serious diseases, but also leads to an increase in criminal activities. Many addicts, driven by the desperation to buy drugs, turn to theft, mugging, or even violence against their own family members. Drug addiction also destroys the future of the younger generation, who are the backbone of a nation. To combat this menace, the family, the school, and the government must work together. Parents should spend more time with their children to understand their psychological state, and teachers should educate them about the dangers of drugs. Finally, the government should take strict legal action against drug dealers and traffickers to ensure a drug-free society.

11. Application for setting up a debating club

24 May 2026

The Headmaster,

Barishal Zilla School, Barishal.

Subject: Application for setting up a debating club.

Sir,

With due respect and humble submission, I beg to state that I am a student of class ten in your school. Most of the students in our school are talented and have a deep interest in extracurricular activities. We are particularly interested in debating because it helps to improve our critical thinking, public speaking skills, and overall confidence. Unfortunately, despite having such interest and potential, we cannot participate in inter-school debate competitions effectively because we do not have a debating club in our school. A club would provide us with the necessary platform to practice, learn from one another, and prepare for competitions.

I, therefore, hope that you would kindly take the necessary steps to set up a debating club in our school compound and encourage us in our intellectual growth.

Sincerely yours,

Sristy / Srasto

Class: X, Roll: 10

On behalf of the students of Barishal Zilla School

12. Composition on "Wonders of Modern Science"

Wonders of Modern Science

Science is the systematic knowledge of nature and the physical world gained through experiment and observation. Modern civilization is largely a gift of science, and our daily lives are deeply influenced by its inventions. Science has brought about a revolutionary change in every sphere of life, making the impossible possible and the world smaller and faster for everyone.

The most significant contribution of science can be seen in the field of communication and information. The telephone, mobile phone, internet, and satellite TV have turned the entire world into a global village. We can now communicate with anyone across the globe in a fraction of a second, and the internet allows us to access a vast treasure of knowledge from anywhere. In the fields of agriculture and industry, science has brought incredible progress. Modern farming tools like tractors and power tillers, along with chemical fertilizers and high-yielding seeds, have drastically increased food production. Similarly, industries today run almost entirely on the power of scientific machinery.

In the realm of medical science, science has worked wonders. Diseases that were once considered fatal, such as smallpox or cholera, are now easily curable. With the invention of advanced diagnostic tools like X-rays, CT scans, and life-saving antibiotics, doctors can treat patients more accurately than ever before. Modern medicine has even given vision to the blind and hearing aids to the deaf, significantly improving the quality and length of human life. Electricity is perhaps the most magical gift of science, lighting up our homes, running our fans, and powering the massive industrial sectors that drive our economy.

Transportation has also become faster and more comfortable. We can travel from one country to another in a few hours using aeroplanes. Trains, buses, and cars have made long-distance travel easy, which was once unthinkable. Computers, on the other hand, have simplified the most difficult calculations and tasks, helping us manage our complex lives with efficiency and ease.

However, every invention has two sides. While science has provided us with immense blessings, it can also become a curse if misused. Some scientists have invented dreadful weapons like atom bombs and missiles, which have the potential to destroy the world in a moment. Environmental pollution, which is a major threat to our planet today, is also partly a result of scientific and industrial over-development.

In conclusion, science is the most powerful tool ever created by human beings. It has made our life easy, comfortable, and prosperous. Science is meant to serve humanity, not to destroy it. If we use scientific inventions wisely and responsibly for the benefit of mankind, we can ensure a better, safer, and more peaceful world for the future generation. Science is a blessing as long as it is guided by human wisdom and ethics.
