The first line to receive approval is MRT Line-6, which will stretch from Uttara to Motijheel, covering a length of 20 kilometers. Barishal Board - 2022: The Kindness of Haji Mohsin

Story:Haji Mohsin was well-known for his generosity, often helping the poor and helpless with food and clothing. One night, while he was sleeping, a thief crept into his bedroom. Awakened by the intruder, Haji Mohsin caught hold of the thief, who pleaded, "Sir, I am very poor, and I have no food in my house." Taking pity on the man, Haji Mohsin led him to another room and opened a box. The box was full of gold and money, and instead of punishing the thief, he chose to show compassion.

Story:Kazi Nazrul Islam, one of the greatest poets of Bengal, was born in 1899 in the district of Burdwan, West Bengal. After losing his father at the age of eight, he displayed his poetic talents early, composing remarkable works by the age of eleven. He wrote prolifically, creating poems, songs, ghazals, short stories, and novels. At nineteen, Nazrul joined the army but soon left it after the First World War to pursue a career in writing. Sadly, since 1942, he had been suffering from a debilitating illness that left him paralyzed for the rest of his life. After Bangladesh's independence in 1971, he was brought to Bangladesh in 1972, where he was declared the national poet. He passed away on August 29, 1976, and was laid to rest at Dhaka University.

(i) All the servants were called and interrogated.

(ii) In order to find out the thief, the judge chalked out an intelligent plan.

(iii) Once a gold necklace was lost from a rich man's house.

(iv) The servants were summoned to the court but they denied having stolen the necklace.

(v) When the servants came to the court the next day, the thief had already cut off an inch of his stick.

(vi) But nobody confessed their guilt.

(vii) So the owner of the house lodged a complaint in the court.

(viii) The judge found one of the sticks shorter than the others and in this way he could easily catch the thief.

(ix) Naturally it was suspected that one of the servants had stolen the necklace.

(x) He gave each of the suspects a stick of equal length and said that one of the sticks would increase by an inch the next day.

1. Dhaka Board - 2019: The Lost Necklace

Story:Once, a gold necklace was lost from a rich man’s house. Naturally, it was suspected that one of the servants had stolen the necklace. All the servants were called and interrogated, but nobody confessed their guilt. So, the owner of the house lodged a complaint in the court. The servants were summoned to the court, but they denied having stolen the necklace. In order to find out the thief, the judge devised an intelligent plan. He gave each of the suspects a stick of equal length and told them that one of the sticks would increase by an inch the next day. When the servants came to the court the next day, the thief had already cut off an inch of his stick. The judge found one of the sticks shorter than the others, and in this way, he could easily catch the thief.

Story:Dr. Kudrat-e-Khuda was born on 8th May 1900 in the village of Maragra, in the district of Birbhum, West Bengal. In 1929, he passed his D.Sc. from Imperial College in England. At the age of six, he was admitted to a Furkania Madrasa and later enrolled in an English school. He showed extraordinary credit in every school examination. In 1925, he passed M.Sc. in Chemistry from Kolkata University with star marks. His father, Hazrat Shah Abdul Mukit, was a pious man. In 1953, Dr. Kudrat-e-Khuda was appointed as the Chairman of the Secondary Education Board, where he made great plans to restructure the education system. He made significant contributions to scientific research in Bangladesh and passed away on 3rd November 1977.

Bangla Translation:ড. কুদরাত-ই-খুদা ১৯০০ সালের ৮ই মে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বীরভূম জেলার মারাগ্রা গ্রামে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। ১৯২৯ সালে তিনি ইংল্যান্ডের ইম্পেরিয়াল কলেজ থেকে ডি.এস.সি. ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। ছয় বছর বয়সে তাকে ফুরকানিয়া মাদ্রাসায় ভর্তি করা হয়েছিল এবং পরে একটি ইংরেজি স্কুলে ভর্তি হন। তিনি প্রতিটি স্কুল পরীক্ষায় অসাধারণ কৃতিত্ব প্রদর্শন করেন। ১৯২৫ সালে তিনি কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে রসায়নে এম.এসসি. ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। তার বাবা, হাজরাত শাহ আব্দুল মুকিত, একজন ধার্মিক মানুষ ছিলেন। ১৯৫৩ সালে, ড. কুদরাত-ই-খুদা মাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা বোর্ডের চেয়ারম্যান নিযুক্ত হন, যেখানে তিনি শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থার নতুন কাঠামো দিতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পরিকল্পনা করেন। তিনি বাংলাদেশের বৈজ্ঞানিক গবেষণায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রেখেছেন এবং ১৯৭৭ সালের ৩রা নভেম্বর মৃত্যুবরণ করেন।

Story:Kazi Nazrul Islam was born in 1899 in the district of Burdwan, West Bengal. He lost his father when he was eight years old and showed his poetic talent by the age of eleven. At nineteen, he joined the army as an ordinary soldier to fight in World War I. After returning from the battlefield, he gave up the sword and started writing. He wrote a lot of poems, songs, ghazals, short stories, and novels. In 1924, he married Promila in Kolkata. Unfortunately, he started suffering from a severe illness in 1942, which left him paralyzed for the rest of his life. In 1971, Bangladesh became independent, and Nazrul was brought to Bangladesh from Kolkata in 1972. He was declared the national poet of Bangladesh, and he passed away on 29th August 1976, being buried in the compound of Dhaka University.

Bangla Translation:কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম ১৮৯৯ সালে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বর্ধমান জেলায় জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। আট বছর বয়সে তিনি তার বাবাকে হারান এবং এগারো বছর বয়সেই তার কবিত্বের প্রতিভা প্রকাশ করেন। উনিশ বছর বয়সে, তিনি প্রথম বিশ্বযুদ্ধে অংশগ্রহণ করার জন্য সাধারণ সৈনিক হিসেবে সেনাবাহিনীতে যোগ দেন। যুদ্ধের ময়দান থেকে ফিরে এসে তিনি তরবারি ছেড়ে কলম ধরেন। তিনি অনেক কবিতা, গান, গজল, ছোটগল্প, উপন্যাস লিখেছেন। ১৯২৪ সালে তিনি কলকাতায় প্রমীলাকে বিয়ে করেন। দুর্ভাগ্যবশত, ১৯৪২ সাল থেকে তিনি একটি ভয়াবহ অসুস্থতায় ভুগতে শুরু করেন এবং জীবনের বাকি সময়টি পক্ষাঘাতগ্রস্ত অবস্থায় কাটান। ১৯৭১ সালে বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন হলে ১৯৭২ সালে তাকে কলকাতা থেকে বাংলাদেশে আনা হয়। তাকে বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় কবি ঘোষণা করা হয় এবং ১৯৭৬ সালের ২৯ আগস্ট তিনি মৃত্যুবরণ করেন। তার কবর ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রাঙ্গণে অবস্থিত।

The astrologer thought for a while about some ways to escape. With ready wit, he replied, "The stars declare that I’ll die only a week before your death."

Bangla Translation:একবার একজন রাজা ছিলেন যিনি ভবিষ্যৎ জানার জন্য একজন জ্যোতিষীর প্রতি আগ্রহী ছিলেন। একটি ভালো জ্যোতিষী রাজার রাজধানীতে আসেন। রাজা তাকে রাজপ্রাসাদে ডেকে নেন। জ্যোতিষী কিছু খুব অসুন্দর কথা বললে রাজা রেগে যান এবং জ্যোতিষীকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেওয়ার আদেশ দেন। তবে, মৃত্যুদণ্ডের আগে রাজার মনে আরেকটি চিন্তা আসে। রাজা তখন জিজ্ঞেস করেন, "তুমি কতদিন বাঁচতে চাও?" জ্যোতিষী তার জীবন রক্ষা করার উপায় নিয়ে কিছুক্ষণ ভাবেন। তিনি তৎপরতা দেখিয়ে উত্তর দেন, "তারা ঘোষণা করে যে আমি কেবল আপনার মৃত্যুর এক সপ্তাহ আগে মারা যাব।"

Story:Abraham Lincoln was the President of the United States of America. On the 10th of November 1863, a railway train was carrying him to a place called Gettysburg, where he was going to speak at a meeting. The speech on the envelope is now famous as the "Gettysburg Address." The last words of the speech are: “Government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.” He was not writing on paper but on the back of an envelope.

Bangla Translation:আব্রাহাম লিঙ্কন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের প্রেসিডেন্ট ছিলেন। ১৮৬৩ সালের ১০ই নভেম্বর একটি রেলগাড়ি তাকে গেটিসবার্গ নামক স্থানে নিয়ে যাচ্ছিল, যেখানে তিনি একটি সভায় বক্তব্য রাখতে যাচ্ছিলেন। এটি ইংরেজি ভাষার সবচেয়ে সেরা এবং সংক্ষিপ্ত ভাষণগুলির মধ্যে একটি। রেলে তিনি কিছু লিখতে ব্যস্ত ছিলেন, যা একটি খামের পেছনে লেখা ছিল। খামের পেছনের সেই ভাষণটি এখন "গেটিসবার্গ ভাষণ" নামে বিখ্যাত। ভাষণের শেষ শব্দ ছিল: "জনতার সরকার, জনতার দ্বারা, জনতার জন্য পৃথিবী থেকে মুছে যাবে না।" তিনি কাগজে লেখার পরিবর্তে একটি খামের পেছনে লিখছিলেন।
