SSC Passage Narration 2018 All Board Questions


1. Change the narrative style of the following text: [All Board-2018]


Shahib said to Tashin, “Did you visit the Shat Gombuj Mosque?” “No, I didn't”, said Tashin. “I was there last week. How beautiful the mosque is!” said Shahib. “Let's go there next week,” Tashin said.

1. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Dhaka Board-2017]


“Good morning, can I help you?” said the Manager. “Yes, I was told to come over here to get a parking sticker. Is this the right place?” said the lady. “Yes, it is. What's the registration number of your car?” said the manager.



2. Change the narrative style of the following text : [Rajshahi Board-2017]


My mother said, “Won't you go to school today?” I said, “Mother, I feel feverish today. I don't want to go to school.” “Ok, take rest now. You should be more careful about your health,” said mother.




3. Change the following passage into indirect. [Sylhet Board- 2017]

“What are you doing now, Rashed?” I said, “I am watching an interesting program on television.” “Aren't you wasting your time?” “No, I don't think so,” he said. “Remember, too much watching of TV makes people lazy.”




4. Change the narrative style of the following text. [Jashore Board- 2017]


“Why did you not go to school yesterday, Rimu?” asked the mother. “I was ill, mum.” “How are you today?” “Well,” answered the girl. “Don't worry for me.”




5. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Barisal Board-2017]


"Dear friend, which book do you want?" "A Practical English. Grammar' of A. J. Thomson. I lost my copy yesterday," said Oishe. "I can lend you. But return it in a week," I said.



6. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Dinajpur Board-2017]


"My sons, listen to me, A great treasure lies hidden in the land. I am going to leave it to you." "How'll we find it?" said the sons. "You must dig the land for it," said the old man.



7. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Cumilla Board-2017, 2015; Barisal Board-2016]

The teacher said to the boy, “Do you know that honesty is the best policy?" The boy said, “yes, sir, I think so.” “Then learn to be honest from your boyhood," said the teacher. “Thank you," said the boy. “May Allah help you," said the teacher. 



8. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Chattogram Board-2017]

"How lovely the doll is! I'll buy it," said Mona. "No, it is not durable. Tomorrow we will visit another village fair. Then you can buy another doll. Let's go now," said mother. "You must buy me a good doll," said Mona. "Yes" replied mother.


Solutions


1. Change the narrative style of the following text: [All Board-2018]

Shahib said to Tashin, “Did you visit the Shat Gombuj Mosque?” “No, I didn't”, said Tashin. “I was there last week. How beautiful the mosque is!” said Shahib. “Let's go there next week,” Tashin said.


Answer : Shabab asked Tahsin if he (T) had visited the Shat Gombuj Mosque. Tahsin replied in the negative and said that he had not visited the place. Shabab told that he had been there the previous week. Then he (S) exclaimed with joy that the mosque was very beautiful. Lastly Tahsin proposed that they should go there the following week.

1. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Dhaka Board-2017]


“Good morning, can I help you?” said the Manager. “Yes, I was told to come over here to get a parking sticker. Is this the right place?” said the lady. “Yes, it is. What's the registration number of your car?” said the manager.


Answer: The manager wished the lady good morning and asked if he could help her. The lady answered in the affirmative and said that she had been told to go over there to get a parking sticker. The lady also asked if that was the right place. The manager replied in the affirmative and said that it was. He also asked her what the registration number of her car was.



2. Change the narrative style of the following text : [Rajshahi Board-2017]


My mother said, “Won't you go to school today?” I said, “Mother, I feel feverish today. I don't want to go to school.” “Ok, take rest now. You should be more careful about your health,” said mother.



Answer: My mother asked me if I would not go to school that day. I told my mother that I felt feverish that day. I also said that I did not want to go to school. My mother told me that it was Ok and then she told me to take rest. My mother also advised me that I should be more careful about my health.


3. Change the following passage into indirect. [Sylhet Board- 2017]

“What are you doing now, Rashed?” I said, “I am watching an interesting program on television.” “Aren't you wasting your time?” “No, I don't think so,” he said. “Remember, too much watching of TV makes people lazy.”



Answer: I asked Rashed what he was doing then. Rashed replied that he was watching an interesting program on television. I asked him if he (Rashed) wasn't wasting his time. He (Rashed) replied in the negative and said that he didn't think so. Then I advised him to remember that too much watching of TV makes people lazy.



4. Change the narrative style of the following text. [Jashore Board- 2017]


“Why did you not go to school yesterday, Rimu?” asked the mother. “I was ill, mum.” “How are you today?” “Well,” answered the girl. “Don't worry for me.”



Answer: Mother asked Rimu why she had not gone to school the previous day. Rimu replied that she had been ill. Mother again asked her how she was that day. The girl (Rimu) answered that she was well. She also told her mother not to worry for her (R).



5. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Barisal Board-2017]


"Dear friend, which book do you want?" "A Practical English. Grammar' of A. J. Thomson. I lost my copy yesterday," said Oishe. "I can lend you. But return it in a week," I said.


Answer: I addressed Oishe as a dear friend and asked her which book she wanted. She (Oishe) said that she wanted 'A Practical English Grammar' of A. J. Thomson. She also said that she had lost her copy the previous day. I said to her that I could lend her. I also told her that she should return it in a week.



6. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Dinajpur Board-2017]

Answer: The old man told his sons to listen to him and added that a great treasure lay hidden in the land. He also added that he (old man) was going to leave it to them (sons). In reply the sons asked how they would find it. The old man replied that they (sons) had to dig the land for it.


7. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Cumilla Board-2017, 2015; Barisal Board-2016]

Answer : The teacher asked the boy if he knew that honesty is the best policy. The boy respectfully replied in the affirmative and said that he thought so. Then the teacher advised him to learn to be honest from his boyhood. The boy respectfully thanked him (T). The teacher wished that Allah might help him (B).



8. Change the narrative style of the following text: [Chattogram Board-2017]

Answer: Mona surprisingly said that the doll was very lovely. She also added that she would buy it. The mother replied in the negative and said that it was not durable. She assured her saying that they would visit another village fair the next day and then she could buy another doll. She also added that they should go then. Mona said to her mother that she had to buy her a good doll. The mother replied positively.
