Describe an occasion when you had to wait in a long line or queue for a long time.

You should say:

• When was it?

• Where was it?

• What did you do while waiting?

• And explain how you felt about it.

One occasion that stands out was about ten years ago, shortly after I graduated from high school. I had to travel to the university, which was about 25 kilometers from my home, to check the list of students admitted to the degree programs.

The university was extremely crowded that day because there were thousands of students and their parents all trying to get a spot in the competitive programs. The admissions process was highly anticipated, and there was a long queue of people waiting for their chance to see if they had made it.

As we waited in line, which seemed to stretch endlessly, my friends and I chatted to pass the time. We were all anxious and excited, and we tried to keep our spirits up by discussing our future plans and making light of the situation. The waiting time was supposed to be short, but the announcement that the list would be displayed in 15 or 20 minutes kept being delayed. Eventually, the list was posted around 4:45 pm, but by then, the crowd was so thick that it was nearly impossible to see the board.

When I finally managed to check the list and take a picture, it was around 5:00 pm or 5:20 pm. The entire wait lasted almost two and a half hours, which felt excruciatingly long, especially given the chaotic environment.

I felt quite frustrated by the experience. I’m not a fan of large crowds and long waits, and this event was no exception. The lack of organization and the inability to check the list online made the whole process seem unnecessarily stressful and inefficient. Overall, it was an experience I would rather forget, and it reinforced my preference for more streamlined and less crowded systems.
