Describe a time that you looked at the sky (day or night)

You should say:

·        And explain why you liked it

To be perfectly honest, I was struggling to think of a time I looked at the sky because it’s not something that I do consciously and I couldn’t think of a time, but then I suddenly remembered when I was on holiday last year that I took a photo of the sky so I’ve decided to talk about that occasion.

Like I said, I was on holiday, well to be more precise, I was actually travelling to my holiday destination and we were driving through a scenic part of Italy called the Dolomites. This is a mountainous area in the northern part of the country and because of the mountains, the temperature dropped quite suddenly and I noticed the low-lying cloud* in the sky. It was so low that it was covering part of the mountain.

As I was going on holiday, I was with my family at the time. My kids were sleeping, but I knew that they would like to see this natural phenomenon so I quickly woke them up. My son is into nature and the natural world so he gasped and said ‘wow’ when he saw it. It is a stunningly beautiful part of the world and so picturesque, but with the cloud formation like this, it looked even more spectacular.

Although I love seeing a clear blue cloudless sky especially when I am on holiday, I am fascinated by clouds and cloud formation so I took a number of photos on my phone. I was amazed at how good they came out because we were driving at the time, well I wasn’t driving, my husband was. Driving and taking photos at the same time is a big no-no so I wouldn’t do that.

Describe a Time That You Looked at the Sky

To be perfectly honest, I had difficulty recalling a specific instance when I looked at the sky deliberately because it’s not something I do often. However, I did remember a special occasion from my holiday last year. On that trip, I captured a memorable photo of the sky, and I’d like to share that experience.

The moment I’m referring to occurred while we were traveling to our holiday destination in Italy. More precisely, we were driving through a stunningly beautiful region known as the Dolomites. This area, located in the northern part of Italy, is famous for its dramatic mountainous landscape. During our drive, the temperature dropped sharply, and I noticed a low-lying cloud that seemed to hang just above the mountains. It was so low that it appeared to blanket part of the mountain range, creating a mystical and enchanting view.

At the time, I was accompanied by my family. My children were asleep in the backseat of the car, but I knew they would love to see this natural phenomenon. I gently woke them up, and my son, who has a deep interest in nature, was particularly excited. He gazed in awe at the sight and exclaimed "wow." The cloud formation made the already picturesque landscape even more breathtaking and surreal.

Although I usually enjoy a clear blue sky without any clouds, I find cloud formations fascinating. I took several photos of the scene with my phone to capture its beauty. The photos turned out surprisingly well, despite the fact that we were moving. My husband was driving, and I made sure to take the pictures safely without distracting him. This experience highlighted how nature can present such extraordinary and enchanting sights, making moments like these truly memorable.
