Global greenhouse emissions by economic Sectors- Graph, Chart, Map, Diagram and Table Interpretation for HSC & SSC / The chart shows global emissions of greenhouse gases in 2016

The pie chart illustrates the distribution of greenhouse gas emissions by sector in 2016, amounting to a total of 49.4 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent globally. The chart categorizes emissions into seven sectors: "energy production," "buildings," "industry," "transportation," "landfills and water waste," "chemical and cement," and "agriculture, forestry, and land use."

Overall, the industrial energy sector accounted for the largest share of emissions, while landfills and water waste had the smallest share.

Starting with the largest contributor, industrial emissions made up just over 20%, representing 24% or 24.2 billion tonnes. Next, buildings and transportation sectors emitted similar amounts, with buildings at 18% (17.5 billion tonnes) and transportation at 17%. The "agriculture, forestry, and land use" sector followed, contributing 19% or 19.3 billion tonnes of CO2.

Finally, emissions from "chemicals and cement" and "landfills and water waste" were significantly lower, together representing less than 10% of the total. "Chemicals and cement" accounted for 5% (5.2 billion tonnes), while "landfills and water waste" comprised the smallest share at 3% (3.2 billion tonnes).
