As You Sow So you Reap

Once there lived a crocodile and a cunning fox in a jungle. The crocodile had four children. She loved her children very much and dreamt that one day they would be educated. But how is it possible? She could not understand where to go for this purpose.

At last she went to a fox and asked him if he could teach her children. The cunning fox gladly received the offer. Thus, the crocodile left all her four children with him and went away to the river. The fox made four caves for the crocodile’s four children and kept them in it. The fox liked to eat crocodile’s kids. So one day he ate one of the children of crocodile and kept the other three. The caves were linked through holes. One child of crocodile could easily be replaced through the holes. But no one could understand it.

After some days, the crocodile mother came to see her children. Then the cunning fox showed her the three kids and showed one of them twice using the hole. The foolish mother crocodile thought that she saw all the four of her children and went away. The cunning fox again ate another one of the crocodile’s kids.

After some days the crocodile came and the fox again showed both of them twice. Thus one day the fox ate all the kids and refused the crocodile to give back her kids, because the kids are now educated. They can move now all by themselves. They do not need their mother or any assistance.

The crocodile mother could realize the real fact. Being disappointed she went to the river. She always cried for her children. It was her great mistake to send her children to the wicked fox. She had a sentiment of revenge to teach the fox. Many days were passed. One day the fox was crossing the river where the crocodile lived. The crocodile then got the opportunity to take her revenge. She ate him up and avenged herself to the death of her children. Thus we can get a lesson that as you sow so shall you reap.

Cunningness Cannot Sustain Long

Once a crocodile wanted her eight children to be educated. So she went to a fox and asked him if he could teach her children. The crocodile had a good faith on the fox. The cunning fox gladly received the offer.,So the crocodile left all her- with the fox and went back to the river. The fox liked to eat crocodile's kids. So he ate one of them and kept the others seven. After some days, the crocodile came to see her children. Then the cunning fox showed her the seven kids and showed one of them twice. The foolish crocodile thought that she saw all eight of her children and went away.

After some days the fox ate another baby crocodile. When the mother crocodile again came to see her children, the fox showed her six crocodiles and showed one of them twice. The mother thought that she had seen all eight of children and she went away happily. At last when the mother crocodile came. the fox showed her the only one baby left eight times. The crocodile could not understand the trick. But when the crocodile came again after some days the fox was not able to show any of the babies because he had already eaten up the last one. The crocodile could understand the cunning trick of the fox. She got furious, jumped on the fox and ate him up.

কিছু দিন পর শিয়াল আরেকটি বাচ্চা কুমির খেয়ে ফেলল। যখন মা কুমির আবার তার বাচ্চাদের দেখতে এলো, তখন শিয়াল তাকে দুবার দুটি কুমির দেখাল। মা ভেবেছিল যে সে চারটি বাচ্চাই দেখেছে এবং সে খুশি হয়ে চলে গেল। পরের বার যখন মা কুমিরটি এলো, তখন শিয়াল তাকে চারবার অবশিষ্ট একমাত্র বাচ্চাটি দেখাল। কুমির কৌশলটি বুঝতে পারল না। কিন্তু কিছুদিন পর যখন কুমিরটি আবার এলো, তখন শিয়ালটি তার কোন বাচ্চা দেখাতে পারল না কারণ সে ইতিমধ্যেই শেষ বাচ্চাটি খেয়ে ফেলেছিল। কুমিরটি শিয়ালের চালাকি বুঝতে পারল। সে রেগে গেল, শিয়ালের উপর ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ল এবং তাকে খেয়ে ফেলল।

নদীর ধারে এক জঙ্গলে এক মহিষ আর শিয়াল থাকত। একদিন তারা খুব ভালো বন্ধু ছিল। শিয়াল মহিষকে বলল, “ওহ, বন্ধু, নদীর ওপারে একটা সুন্দর সবুজ ভুট্টার ক্ষেত আছে। তোমার জন্য ভুট্টার গাছটা বেশ ভালো। তাছাড়া, নদীর ধারে আমি কাঁকড়া আর মাছ নিয়ে আসব। দয়া করে আমাকে নদীর ওপারে নিয়ে যাও।”

মহিষ এই প্রস্তাবে রাজি হয়ে যায়। তাই সে বলল এবং খেতে শুরু করে। শিয়াল নদীর ধারে দৌড়াতে শুরু করে। সে কাঁকড়া আর মাছের খোঁজে ছিল। যত কাঁকড়া পাও তত খায়। শিয়াল মহিষের চেয়ে ছোট ছিল, তাই অল্প সময়ের মধ্যেই সে তার ক্ষুধা মেটাতে পারত। কিন্তু এবার মহিষ যতটা প্রয়োজন ততটা খেতে পারত না। এদিকে শিয়াল আনন্দে মাঠে দৌড়াতে শুরু করে। সে তার সমস্ত শক্তি দিয়ে চিৎকার করতে ভোলেনি। গ্রামবাসীরা শিয়ালকে চিৎকার করতে শুনতে পেল।

গ্রামবাসীরা শিয়ালকে তাড়ানোর জন্য একজোট হয়ে গ্রামবাসীর কাছ থেকে বেরিয়ে এলো। কিন্তু তারা অবাক হয়ে শুধু একটা শেয়ালই নয়, একটা মহিষও দেখতে পেল। তারা লাঠি দিয়ে বেচারা মহিষের উপর ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ল এবং তাকে কালো ও নীল রঙের মারধর করল। তারপর তারা শিয়ালকে অনুসরণ করল। কিন্তু তারা ধূর্ত জন্তুটির কোনও ক্ষতি করতে পারল না। শীঘ্রই তারা ক্লান্ত হয়ে পড়ল, শিয়ালকে তাড়া করা ছেড়ে দিয়ে বাড়ি চলে গেল, তারপর শিয়াল মহিষের কাছে এসে বলল, “এখন আমাদের বাড়ি যাওয়াই ভালো।” মহিষটি শিয়ালটির উপর খুব রেগে গেল এবং নিজেকে বলল, “আমি তোমাকে একটা ভালো শিক্ষা দিচ্ছি।” তাই সে বলল, “ঠিক আছে, আগের মতো আমার পিঠে চড়ে বসো।

শিয়াল, মহিষের পিঠে চড়ে বসলো। আবারও মহিষ নদী পার হতে শুরু করল। শীঘ্রই তারা জলে নামল। মহিষটি শিয়ালকে বলল।
