The King and the Island

A long time ago, a King lived on a beautiful island. The island was full of green trees that made it look fresh and lovely. One day, the King decided to build a grand and beautiful palace on the island. He wanted it to be the most magnificent palace anyone had ever seen.

To make space for the palace, the King gave an order to cut down all the trees on the island. Some people told him not to do it. They warned him that cutting down the trees was a bad idea. But the King did not listen to them. He ignored their advice and insisted that the trees be cut.

Soon, all the trees were gone, and the King built his shiny, new palace. It was big and beautiful, and he was very proud of it. He spent his days enjoying the luxury of his palace, feeling happy about what he had created. But while he was enjoying his palace, he didn’t realize that his island was changing for the worse.

After some time, the island started to suffer. There was no rice in the granary, no fruit in the storage, and no fish in the ponds. The people of the island were unhappy, and they began to lose their peace. The once-beautiful island was no longer the same.

One afternoon, the King stepped outside his palace. For a moment, he thought he was in a different place. The green island he loved was now dry and barren. The air was hot, and it was so hard to breathe that the King struggled to catch his breath. Outside the palace gates, the common people stood silently watching their King. They could see his suffering.

At that moment, the King understood his mistake. He realized that cutting down the trees had destroyed the island. He had lost his kingdom, his land, and even the trust of his people. The island no longer belonged to him alone; it belonged to everyone.

But it was not too late. The King decided to fix his mistake. He called all the people together and asked for their help to save the island. He promised to work with them to bring back the green trees and make the island beautiful again. The King had learned an important lesson: the land belongs to everyone, and it is everyone’s responsibility to take care of it.

Consequences of Deforestation: Once, there lived a king

Once upon a time, there was a ruler who governed an island that was rich in lush vegetation, particularly trees. The king, however, had an ambitious vision to construct a grand palace on the island. To make his dream a reality, he instructed his men to fell all the trees on the island. Despite opposition from some of his subjects, the king ignored their concerns and went ahead with his plan. The trees were cut down, leaving the island bare and barren.

As a result, there was a noticeable shift in the climate, which had devastating consequences. The absence of trees led to a lack of rainfall, which, in turn, triggered floods that destroyed crops and washed away the fertile topsoil. The farmers could no longer cultivate their land, and food shortages ensued, leading to a famine. In desperation, the people of the island turned to the king, pleading for assistance and sustenance.

It was then that the king realized the grave error he had committed in felling all the trees. He grasped the critical role of trees in the environment and the lives of his subjects. To make amends, he imported a vast number of tree saplings and distributed them free of charge to his people. Over time, the saplings grew into beautiful trees, and the island was once again teeming with lush greenery.

The trees aided in restoring the ecological balance of the island, and the rains returned. The farmers were able to grow crops once more, and prosperity returned to the land. The people of the island were grateful to the king, who had learned a valuable lesson about the importance of trees and the natural environment.

A Whimsical King

Once there lived a king in an island. He was a king without wisdom. There were green trees everywhere in the island. One day a strange idea peeped into his mind. The king decided to build a magnificent palace in the island.  He was always absorbed in planning that palace. He dreamt the palace when he slept. So he ordered him men to cut down all the trees. Some opposed the king’s idea but he did not pay heed to their opposition.

The king became very cruel when anybody disobeyed his order. Then instantly he killed him.  So people were compelled to carry out the king’s order. They cut down all the trees. As a result, a great change took place in the climate of the island. There was no rain on the islands. So crops did not grow well. People did not get enough food to eat. They became weak and tired. There were terrible heat-waves on the island. People suffered a lot. Suddenly, floods visited the island. They brought untold miseries for the people.

The people could not irrigate their fields well. All these things made life miserable for the citizens of the island. Gradually, the island began to turn into a barren desert. Now the king realized his great mistake and asked his countrymen to plant trees across the country.

The King's Mistake

Once there lived a king in an island. There were green trees everywhere in the island. Once the king decided to build a magnificent palace in the island. So he ordered his men to cut down all the trees. Some opposed the king's idea but he did not pay heed to their opposition. So people were compelled to carry out the king's order. They cut down all the trees. As a result a great change took place in the climate of the island. As there was no tree left in the island, the whole environment faced a great crisis. In the first few years, there occurred a great reduction in the rainfall in that area. And after nine or ten years, there was hardly any rainfall. So the people of the island failed to raise any crops. The whole land area, due to drought, became dusty and sandy. Now and then, the island became subject to different kinds of natural calamities. In fact, the whole island was then a desert. In such situation, the king of the island called his courtiers and found out the cause of this crisis. The king realised his mistake and ordered all his people to plant trees in every nook and comer of the island.

Ans.       A King's Mistake

Once there lived a King in an island. There were green trees everywhere in the island. The King decided to build a magnificent palace in the island. So he ordered his men to cut down all the trees. Some opposed the King's idea but he did not pay any heed to them. All the trees were cut, a palace was built and the King continued to live his day in pride inside the new shiny walls of his prized possession. It was only he who unconsciously and with folly kept living in the palace until he realized that his kingdom had begun to deteriorate. There was no rice in the granary, no fruit in the storehouse, no fish in the pond and no peace among the people. One afternoon, he took a step outside the palace and, fora second, mistook his green island for a barren land. The air was so uncomfortably warm that he even struggled to breathe. The common people outside his gate were watching him suffer in silence. With no delay, the King realized he had made a grave mistake and had lost his kingdom, his lands and his people. But it was not too late because he still had a little time left to fix his mistake. He couldn't but ask his people to help him save the island because he had-now realized he was not the sole owner of it. The island belonged to everyone.
