I enjoy a variety of foods, but I particularly love Italian cuisine, especially pasta and pizza. I also have a soft spot for spicy Indian dishes, as they are rich in flavor and aroma. Fresh fruits and salads are also among my favorites because they are healthy and refreshing.

2.       What kind of new food would you like to try? [Why?]

I would love to try authentic Japanese sushi. I've heard so much about its delicate flavors and artistic presentation, and I'm curious about how it differs from the sushi available in my area. The idea of experiencing a new culture through food is always exciting to me.

3.       Do you like cooking? [Why/Why not?]

Yes, I enjoy cooking! It’s a great way for me to express my creativity and relax after a long day. Cooking allows me to experiment with different flavors and ingredients, and it’s very rewarding to see others enjoy the meals I prepare.

4.       What was the last meal you cooked?

The last meal I cooked was a vegetable stir-fry. I used a mix of bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots, seasoned with soy sauce and garlic. I served it over rice, and it was both colorful and tasty!

5.       Do you prefer home-cooked food or food from restaurants? [Why?]

I prefer home-cooked food because it’s usually healthier and made with love. I also have control over the ingredients, so I can make dishes that suit my taste and dietary needs. However, I enjoy dining out occasionally to explore new flavors and cuisines.

PART II: Describe an Interest or Hobby You Enjoy

One of my favorite hobbies is painting.

I became interested in painting when I was in elementary school. My art teacher inspired me with her enthusiasm and creativity, and I found joy in expressing myself through colors. I've been painting for about five years now, and it has become a significant part of my life.

I enjoy painting because it allows me to relax and escape from everyday stresses. The process of mixing colors and creating something beautiful gives me a sense of accomplishment. I particularly love working with watercolors because they offer a unique way to blend and layer colors.

This hobby has many benefits for me. It enhances my creativity and improves my focus. Painting also serves as a form of therapy, helping me express my emotions in a positive way. I often find myself feeling happier and more at peace after a painting session.

PART III: Discussion Topics

The Social Benefits of Hobbies

1.       Do you think having a hobby is good for people's social life? In what way?

Absolutely! Having a hobby can significantly enhance a person's social life. It provides opportunities to meet like-minded individuals, join clubs, and participate in community events. This social interaction can lead to friendships and a sense of belonging.

2.       Are there any negative effects of a person spending too much time on their hobby? What are they?

Yes, spending too much time on a hobby can sometimes lead to neglecting responsibilities, such as work or family obligations. It can also result in social isolation if a person becomes too focused on their hobby and withdraws from social interactions outside of it.

3.       Why do you think people need to have an interest or hobby?

People need hobbies because they provide a break from routine and a way to relieve stress. Hobbies also foster personal growth and learning, allowing individuals to develop new skills and interests. They bring joy and fulfillment, contributing to a balanced and happy life.

Leisure Time

1.       In your country, how much time do people spend on work and how much time on leisure? Is this a good balance, do you think?

In my country, many people work long hours, often leaving limited time for leisure. While this can lead to productivity, it may also result in burnout. A better balance between work and leisure is essential for mental health and overall well-being.

2.       Would you say the amount of free time has changed much in the last fifty years?

Yes, I believe the amount of free time has changed considerably. With the rise of technology and the demands of modern jobs, people tend to work longer hours than they did fifty years ago. However, there are also more options for leisure activities now, which can help people find ways to enjoy their free time.

3.       Do you think people will have more or less free time in the future? Why?

I think people might have less free time in the future due to increasing work demands and the fast pace of life. However, the growing awareness of work-life balance may lead individuals to prioritize their leisure time more, which could create opportunities for more fulfilling experiences outside of work.
