Bayazid and His Sick Mother
Bayazid was a small boy. His mother was ill. One day he was studying by the side of the bed of his ailing mother. All on a sudden his mother woke up, raised her head and told her son to give her a glass of water.
Bayazid went straight to the corner where they kept their water pitcher, but when he tilted it, nothing came out. It was completely empty. He peeked outside the window. It was the middle of the night, and it was very dark. The whole village was fast asleep, and there was no one around to ask for help. But Bayazid knew his mother was sick and very thirsty, so he couldn't just ignore it and go back to sleep. He remembered there was a small spring at the edge of the village. He grabbed the heavy pitcher and stepped out into the dark. He had to walk quite a distance. The path was lonely and a bit scary for a young boy, but he just thought about his mother and kept moving forward.
When he finally reached the spring, he filled the pitcher to the top and carefully hurried back home. Once inside, he poured some fresh water into a glass and walked softly to his mother's bed. To his surprise, she was breathing softly, having fallen back asleep. Bayazid stood there holding the glass. He knew if he woke her, she might not go back to sleep, and she needed rest to get better. But if he went to sleep, she might wake up thirsty and have to wait again. So, he made a simple choice. He stood quietly right next to her bed, holding the glass, and waited. He stayed awake and on his feet the entire night. When morning finally came, his mother opened her eyes. She was amazed to see him standing there, tired but smiling, holding the water. Realizing what he had done, her heart filled with love, and she prayed to God to bless him.
Moral: True love means putting your parents' needs before your own.

A Night of Patience
Bayazid was a small boy. His mother was ill. One day he was studying by the side of the bed of his ailing mother. All on a sudden his mother woke up, raised her head and told her son to give her a glass of water.
Hearing her weak voice, he quickly got up to get her some water. He went into the kitchen to check their water pot, but it was totally dry. He knew he couldn't let his mother go thirsty, even though it was very late. The sky outside was completely dark, and all their neighbors were sleeping warmly in their beds. There was only one thing to do. He picked up his empty water jug and quietly slipped out the front door. He walked all the way across the village to a well that was pretty far from his house. It was chilly and quiet, but he just focused on getting the water and coming back. He pulled up a bucket of water, filled his jug, and walked all the way back home.
When he got into his mother's bedroom with a full glass of water, he noticed she was fast asleep again. He thought about waking her up, but she looked so peaceful. He knew sick people really need their sleep to heal. He didn't want to put the glass down and fall asleep himself, because she might wake up anytime asking for water again. So, he decided to stay standing by her side. His legs got tired, and his eyes felt heavy, but he didn't move. He stood there for hours until the sun started shining through the window. When his mother finally woke up, she saw Bayazid standing right where she had left him, holding the water glass. When she realized he had stayed up all night just for her, she started crying happy tears. She gave him a big hug and prayed that God would reward him for being such a good son.
Moral: Being patient and kind to your parents brings great rewards.

The Boy Who Stood All Night
Bayazid was a small boy. His mother was ill. One day he was studying by the side of the bed of his ailing mother. All on a sudden his mother woke up, raised her head and told her son to give her a glass of water.
Bayazid nodded and went straight to the water jar to pour her a drink. When he looked inside, he saw that the jar was empty. There was no water in the house at all. He looked out the door and saw how dark and late it was. The streets were completely empty, and everyone was sound asleep. Still, he knew his mother was thirsty and not feeling well. He picked up an earthen pot and headed outside into the chilly night air. He walked a long way down the dirt roads until he finally found a stream outside the village. He filled his pot with cool water and quickly made his way back home, trying not to spill any in the dark.
When he quietly walked back into his mother's room with a glass of water, she was asleep. She must have been too tired to stay awake. Bayazid stood by her pillow with the glass in his hand. He figured that if he woke her, it would ruin her rest. But if he went back to studying or went to sleep, she wouldn't have the water the second she woke up. To make sure she had what she needed, he just stayed standing there. He stayed on his feet the whole night, keeping quiet so he wouldn't disturb her. Finally, morning arrived, and his mother woke up. She looked at him in shock, realizing he was holding the glass of water she had asked for the night before. Seeing how much he cared for her made her so emotional. She prayed from the bottom of her heart for him to have a blessed life, and people say those prayers helped him become a great and respected man later on.
Moral: A mother's heartfelt prayer is the best blessing a child can get.
