Human civilization is advancing rapidly thanks to science and technology, and Bangladesh is striving to keep up with this progress. The launch of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 into space marks a significant milestone for Bangladesh. By launching this satellite, Bangladesh aims to follow the example of scientifically and technologically developed countries, intending to utilize it for various purposes such as information technology, entertainment, and weather forecasting. With the successful placement of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 into orbit, Bangladesh has joined the ranks of the 57 countries that have launched geostationary communication satellites. This satellite, manufactured by Thales Alenia Space and launched on 11 May 2018, is Bangladesh's first geostationary communications and broadcasting satellite. The project is overseen by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and marked the maiden payload launched by a Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket of SpaceX. It is anticipated that this satellite will play a significant role in enhancing the socio-economic conditions of the country by establishing Bangladesh's presence in space, thereby opening up vast opportunities in information and communication technology (ICT) and broadcasting industries, while also enhancing Bangladesh's global image. The services provided by Bangabandhu Satellite-1 will include video services for Direct to Home (DTH), e-learning, tele-medicine, agriculture, and more, voice services for cellular backhaul and disaster recovery, and data services for Internet, SCADA, SOHO, and business-to-business (VSAT) purposes. Model Answer-2

  Bangabandhu Satellite

A satellite is a man-made object that orbits around the Earth or another planet, used for communication or collecting information. Bangabandhu Satellite-1 is Bangladesh's first geostationary communications satellite, named after the country's founding father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It was created by Thales Alenia Space and launched by SpaceX from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA. Ground control stations are located in Betbunia and Gazipur, Bangladesh. Positioned at 119.1° East longitude, the satellite weighs 3700 kg and is powered by solar arrays and batteries, with an expected lifespan of 15 years. Bangabandhu Satellite-1 provides television broadcast and data relay services using Ku-band and C-band frequencies, covering Bangladesh and neighboring regions. Its launch signifies significant progress in telecommunications for Bangladesh, as it supports the country's television channels and offers potential for economic benefits. By utilizing the satellite's unused bandwidth, Bangladesh may both save money and generate revenue by leasing it to other countries. While the launch of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 presents opportunities for economic growth, there are also challenges in effectively managing the venture. However, it is anticipated that the benefits of improved telecommunications infrastructure will outweigh these challenges, leading to positive outcomes for Bangladesh's development and connectivity.
