AN OLD FARMER AND HIS SONS
Once upon a time there was an old farmer. He lived with his wife and three sons in a small village. The three sons always quarreled themselves and got separated. This made the farmer unhappy. He tried to bring them to their senses but failed. One day when the three sons were quarrelling, he said, “Stop! Don’t quarrel! It’s bad! But they didn’t listen to him.
Again one day when the sons were quarrelling and the old farmer heard them, he took a plan in his hand. He called all the sons and asked them to bring three sticks. The three boys brought the sticks and rope for their father. The old farmer then tied the stick together with the rope then he said to his sons, “Now try and break this bundle of sticks.” The three boys tried and tried, but they could not break the bundle of sticks. Then their father untied the sticks and gave one stick to each of her sons. “Now,” he said, “Try and break your stick.” This time they all broke their sticks easily.
The sons got curious to know the reason of those activates. They said all to the father, “Why have you made us do these jobs, dear father? What good will come of it?” Then the wise father told the sons, “Wait a bit, dear sons. I’m making it clear to you.” Now the father drew their attention to the tied bundle and the separate sticks. He explained to them that when the sticks were tied in a bundle, it was impossible for them to break the sticks. But when the sticks were made separate from one another, it was very easy to break them. He asked them to take a good lesson from it. The man could successfully make them understand that if they (the sons) remained united, they would remain as strong as the bundle of sticks. But if they remained separate from one another like the untied sticks, they would be as weak as a separate stick. He also told them that if they remained united, nobody would be able to do any harm to them. So he strongly advised them to always remain united and not to quarrel among themselves any more in future. The sons could realize everything and they promised not to quarrel or do any evil among themselves.
Thus the old man could effectively teach his sons the valuable proverb, “United we stand, divided we fall.”
Industry is the Key to Success
Once, there was an old farmer who had two lazy sons. They spent their days idly, avoiding work and wasting time. This made the farmer deeply worried because he knew that without hard work, his sons would never be able to succeed in life. He often advised them to work in the fields, but they paid no attention to his words. As he grew older and weaker, he realized that he had to find a way to teach them the value of hard work before it was too late.
One day, the farmer called his sons and said, "There is treasure buried in our field. If you dig the field properly, you will surely find it." Hearing this, the two sons became excited. They immediately took spades and began digging the field. From morning till evening, they dug tirelessly, hoping to find gold or jewels hidden in the soil. However, after digging up the entire field, they found nothing. They were disappointed and sat down, exhausted and upset.
After some time, one of the sons had an idea. He said, "Since we have already dug the field, why don’t we make use of it by planting something?" The other son agreed, and they decided to sow corn seeds. They watered the plants regularly and took care of the field. A few months later, their hard work paid off. The field was covered with golden corn, and they earned a good amount of money by selling it. It was then that they finally understood their father’s wise words. The real treasure was not gold or jewels, but the rewards of hard work and dedication.
From that day on, the two brothers never wasted time again. They worked hard on their farm, and year after year, their harvests brought them more wealth. Soon, they became successful farmers and earned great respect in the village. They realized that their father had given them the greatest lesson of all—that industry is the true key to success. Hard work may seem difficult at first, but with patience and determination, it always leads to success.
The Hidden Treasure
The Hidden Treasure
Once, there lived an old farmer who had three sons. They were strong and healthy but very lazy. They disliked working in the fields and spent their time idly. This worried the old man greatly because farming was the only source of their livelihood. As he grew older and weaker, he feared that after his death, his sons would struggle to survive. He wanted to teach them the importance of hard work before it was too late.
One day, as the farmer lay on his deathbed, he called his sons to his side and said, “My dear sons, I have hidden a great treasure in our fields. If you search for it carefully, you will find it.” Having said this, the old farmer passed away. The sons mourned their father’s death, but soon, they became eager to find the treasure. Without wasting time, they took spades and started digging the fields. They worked tirelessly, turning over every inch of the soil, hoping to find gold or jewels. Days passed, but they found nothing. Disappointed and exhausted, they sat down and wondered if their father had tricked them.
Just then, a wise old man from the village passed by and saw their dug-up fields. He said, “Since the land is already tilled, why don’t you sow some seeds instead of leaving it empty?” The sons agreed and planted wheat in the freshly dug soil. They watered the crops regularly, removed weeds, and took great care of the field. A few months later, the wheat grew tall and healthy, giving them an abundant harvest. They sold the crops in the market and made a good profit. At that moment, they realized what their father had meant by the “hidden treasure.” The real treasure was not gold or silver, but the rewards of hard work and perseverance.
From that day on, the three brothers never wasted time in laziness. They worked hard in the fields every year and became successful farmers. Their lands flourished, and they lived a prosperous and happy life. They finally understood that industry is the key to success, and they never forgot the wise lesson their father had taught them.
Moral: Hard work always leads to success.

Once there lived an old farmer. He had two sons. They were strong but lazy. They slept all day long in the shade. They did not bother to help their old father to plough or water and cultivate the field. Just before he died, the farmer said to his sons: "My dear boys, I have a secret, I always hide it from you. I was afraid to tell you earlier lest you should waste the money hidden in my field. But now, before I die, I have to tell you the truth.
Soon after their father's death, the boys met together and argued: “Dad said that in the field there is a treasure, that if we dig it out, we would find it. Most likely, the treasure is hidden close to the house, so that robbers might not easily take it away. Come on! Let us begin our work!". The two sons took their spades and started digging the field. They dug hard but could not find any treasure. So they gave up work and went back to sleep. Now that the field was so well dug. they sowed the seeds of melon. After some months, the melons grew big and juicy. The sons picked the melons and sold them at the market. People paid a lot of money for them.

Industry is the Key to Success
