An Honest Schoolboy: One day, a little school boy found

Amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, a noble-minded student by the name of Robin, belonging to the ninth grade, came across a purse or moneybag whilst on his way to school. As he looked around, he realized that there was no one nearby who could be the owner of the lost item. Upon picking up the purse/moneybag, Robin was astounded to find that it contained a sizable sum of money. However, instead of taking advantage of this opportunity, Robin decided to uphold his virtues of honesty and responsibility and return the money to its rightful owner.

Despite the fact that Robin's class was about to commence, he chose to prioritize returning the money over his own education. As a result, he took the purse/moneybag to the headmaster of his school and informed him about his discovery. The headmaster, who was thoroughly impressed with Robin's ethical conduct, accompanied him to the local police camp to hand over the money.

Upon reaching the police station, they met an old man who was conversing with the in-charge. After inspecting the contents of the purse, the old man claimed that it belonged to him, and that he had lost it on his way. The in-charge returned the purse to its rightful owner, who was overjoyed and grateful to Robin for his virtuous actions. The old man, wishing to reward the student for his noble deed, offered him a gift in return. However, Robin politely refused, stating that he was content in doing the right thing and that the old man's happiness was reward enough. Robin further humbly requested the old man's blessings so that he could continue to uphold his duties and responsibilities with integrity and rectitude.

Moral of the Story: The honest never expect any reward or return for their good work.

One day a girl of class five was going to school. Suddenly she saw a moneybag dropped by someone on the road. She was at a loss. She stood there for a few moments, staring at the leather bag lying in the dust. As she was an honest girl, she was initially reluctant to pick it up, wondering if it was right to touch something that didn't belong to her. However, she soon realized that if she left it there, someone else might take it and never return it to the rightful owner.

After thinking for a while, she decided to pick the bag up and see if she could find any clues about who it belonged to. She was not in the least interested in grabbing the money or any contents for herself. Her only intention was to open the moneybag to see if there was a visiting card or some form of identification. Fortunately, as she peered inside, she found a small pocket containing a visiting card. The card clearly listed the name, address, and cell phone number of the owner.

Feeling a sense of responsibility, the girl decided to take the bag to her parents before going to school. When she reached home and showed it to her father, he was very impressed by her integrity. He immediately used his phone to call the number listed on the card. On the other end of the line, the owner—a local businessman—felt delighted and incredibly excited to hear the news. He had been in a state of panic because the bag contained a large sum of money—exactly 50,000 Tk—which he had dropped earlier that morning.

The businessman quickly took down their home address and rushed over to the girl's house. When he arrived, the girl's father handed over the moneybag with everything still inside. The owner was overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciated the young girl for her rare honesty. He told her that in a world where many people are greedy, her actions were truly inspiring. He even offered her a reward and a scholarship for her future education to show his thanks. The girl felt a deep sense of pride, realizing that the reward for being honest is much greater than anything she could have gained by keeping the money.

Moral: Honesty is the best policy.

একদিন পঞ্চম শ্রেণির এক বালিকা স্কুলে যাচ্ছিল। হঠাৎ সে রাস্তার ওপর কারো ফেলে যাওয়া একটি টাকার ব্যাগ দেখতে পেল। সে কিংকর্তব্যবিমূঢ় হয়ে পড়ল । সে কিছুক্ষণ সেখানে দাঁড়িয়ে ধুলোয় পড়ে থাকা চামড়ার ব্যাগটির দিকে তাকিয়ে রইল। মেয়েটি সৎ হওয়ার কারণে প্রথমে এটি তুলে নিতে দ্বিধাবোধ করছিল, ভাবছিল অন্যের জিনিসে হাত দেওয়া ঠিক হবে কি না । তবে সে দ্রুতই বুঝতে পারল যে, সে যদি এটি এখানে ফেলে রেখে যায়, তবে অন্য কেউ এটি নিয়ে নিতে পারে এবং আসল মালিকের কাছে তা আর কখনোই পৌঁছাবে না।

কিছুক্ষণ চিন্তা করার পর, সে ব্যাগটি তুলে নেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল এবং দেখতে চাইল এটি কার হতে পারে সে সম্পর্কে কোনো সূত্র পাওয়া যায় কি না । ব্যাগের ভেতরে থাকা টাকা বা অন্য কোনো জিনিসের ওপর তার বিন্দুমাত্র লোভ ছিল না । তার একমাত্র উদ্দেশ্য ছিল ব্যাগের ভেতরে কোনো ভিজিটিং কার্ড বা পরিচয়পত্র আছে কি না তা দেখা । ভাগ্যক্রমে, ভেতরে উঁকি দিতেই সে একটি ছোট পকেটে একটি ভিজিটিং কার্ড খুঁজে পেল । কার্ডটিতে মালিকের নাম, ঠিকানা এবং সেলফোন নম্বর স্পষ্টভাবে লেখা ছিল ।

দায়িত্ববোধ থেকে মেয়েটি স্কুলে যাওয়ার আগে ব্যাগটি তার বাবা-মায়ের কাছে নিয়ে যাওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল । যখন সে বাড়ি পৌঁছে তার বাবাকে এটি দেখাল, তিনি মেয়ের সততা দেখে অত্যন্ত মুগ্ধ হলেন । তিনি তৎক্ষণাৎ কার্ডে থাকা নম্বরে ফোন করলেন । ফোনের অপর প্রান্তে থাকা ব্যক্তিটি ছিলেন একজন স্থানীয় ব্যবসায়ী, যিনি এই খবর শুনে অত্যন্ত আনন্দিত ও উত্তেজিত হয়ে উঠলেন । তিনি খুব দুশ্চিন্তায় ছিলেন কারণ ব্যাগটিতে ঠিক ৫০,০০০ টাকা ছিল, যা তিনি সকালে হারিয়ে ফেলেছিলেন ।

ব্যবসায়ী দ্রুত তাদের বাড়ির ঠিকানা নিলেন এবং মেয়েটির বাড়িতে ছুটে এলেন । তিনি পৌঁছালে মেয়েটির বাবা সবকিছুসহ টাকার ব্যাগটি তার হাতে তুলে দিলেন । মালিক কৃতজ্ঞতায় অভিভূত হলেন এবং এই বিরল সততার জন্য বালিকাটির প্রশংসা করলেন । তিনি তাকে বললেন যে, বর্তমানের লোভী পৃথিবীতে তার এই কাজ সত্যিই অনুপ্রেরণাদায়ক। ধন্যবাদ স্বরূপ তিনি তাকে পুরস্কার এবং তার ভবিষ্যতের শিক্ষার জন্য একটি বৃত্তির প্রস্তাব দিলেন । মেয়েটি মনে মনে খুব গর্ববোধ করল এবং বুঝতে পারল যে, সৎ হওয়ার পুরস্কার টাকা নিজের কাছে রাখার চেয়ে অনেক বেশি মূল্যবান ।

মূলকথা: সততাই সর্বোত্তম পন্থা।

Ayat's Act of Kindness / Honesty

One day, Ayat, a schoolboy, was going to school on foot. While walking, he found a bundle of money on his way to school. He took the bundle of money and went straight to his class teacher.

"Ayat, what brings you here?" asked his teacher, surprised to see him before class.

"Ma'am, I found this bundle of money on my way to school. I thought I should give it to you. Maybe someone lost it," Ayat replied with sincerity.

His teacher was touched by his honesty. She examined the bundle carefully and noticed a small note tucked inside. It had a name and a phone number written on it. Without delay, she called the number and informed the person about the money.

To their surprise, the money belonged to an old woman who had saved it for her grandson's medical treatment. She had accidentally dropped it while returning home from the bank. The teacher invited her to the school to collect her money.

When the old woman arrived, she was overwhelmed with gratitude. She thanked Ayat and his teacher profusely, tears filling her eyes. "You don't know how much this money means to me. You’ve saved my grandson’s life," she said.

She invited Ayat to her home as a token of gratitude and prepared some delicious sweets for him. Ayat felt a deep sense of happiness seeing her smile and knowing he had done the right thing.

Inspired by this experience, Ayat decided to start a small charity program at his school. He encouraged his classmates to contribute in any way they could to help the poor and needy in their community. From that day, Ayat became a role model for honesty and kindness among his peers.

A Little Boy's Honesty and Kindness

One day, a little schoolboy found a 100-taka note lying on the school grounds. Without wasting any time, he picked it up and ran straight to his class teacher, Mr. Zaman. He said, “Dear Sir, I found a 100-taka note. What should I do with it?”

Mr. Zaman smiled and replied, “Keep it with you until the owner comes forward.” But the little boy was worried. He said, “Sir, I’m afraid I might lose it. Could you please keep it for me?” Mr. Zaman agreed, and the other boys also supported the idea.

Following the teacher's advice, the boy put up a notice in the classroom that said, "A sum of money has been found in the schoolyard. The owner may collect it from the class teacher, Mr. Zaman." The notice remained in the class for a week, but no one came to claim the money. After seven days, the teacher asked the boys what they wanted to do with the money. The little boy asked for two more days to wait. However, when the time passed, nobody came.

Now, the boys began to discuss what should be done with the money. Some of them suggested giving it to the mosque, while others thought it should be given to a poor person. But the little boy had a different idea. He proposed, “Let’s give it to the old blind man who sits outside our school every day.” All the boys agreed with his idea.

So, they took the 100 taka and gave it to the blind man. Everyone praised the little boy for his honesty and kindness, and the teacher felt proud of him for making such a thoughtful decision.

Moral: Honesty and kindness are the true treasures in life.
