Rana was a school-going boy. One day he was returning home from school. He was crossing the rail line. He found one of the slippers of the rail line missing. It was a hot afternoon, and Rana was tired after a long day of classes. He was carrying his heavy school bag and thinking about the lunch his mother would have prepared for him. But the moment he saw the broken track, all thoughts of food vanished. He looked closely and realized that a large iron joint was missing, and the rail line was dangerously loose.

As he stood there, wondering what to do, he suddenly felt a slight tremor under his feet. He looked toward the horizon and saw a plume of black smoke. A passenger train was coming from the distance, and it was moving fast. Rana’s heart began to race. He knew that if the train passed over that broken section, it would surely derail, causing a terrible accident and killing many innocent people.

He looked around frantically for help. The fields were empty, and there was no one in sight. He didn't have a mobile phone to call the authorities. He had only a few seconds to act. Suddenly, he remembered something he had learned in his primary school—that red is the color used to signal danger or to stop a vehicle.

Rana was wearing a red shirt as part of his school uniform that day. Without a second thought, he quickly took off his shirt. He stood right in the middle of the track and started waving the red shirt over his head as hard as he could. He shouted at the top of his lungs, hoping the driver would see him.

The driver of the train, the loco-master, saw a small boy standing on the tracks waving something red. At first, he thought it was just a child playing, but as he got closer, he realized the boy looked desperate. Sensing something was wrong, the driver pulled the emergency brakes. The train made a loud, screeching noise, sparks flew from the wheels, and it finally came to a grinding halt just a few yards away from the broken spot.

The driver and several passengers jumped out of the train, looking confused and a bit angry. But when Rana pointed to the missing slipper and the gap in the rail, their anger turned into shock. They realized that this young boy had just saved hundreds of lives. The passengers hugged him and thanked him with tears in their eyes. A few days later, the railway authorities organized a big ceremony in his village and rewarded him with a medal and a scholarship for his bravery and intelligence.

Moral: Presence of mind and courage can save lives.

সে সেখানে দাঁড়িয়ে যখন ভাবছিল কী করা যায়, হঠাৎ পায়ের নিচে হালকা কম্পন অনুভব করল। সে দিগন্তের দিকে তাকাল এবং কালো ধোঁয়ার কুণ্ডলী দেখতে পেল। দূর থেকে একটি যাত্রীবাহী ট্রেন আসছিল এবং সেটি বেশ দ্রুত গতিতে ছিল। রানার হৃদস্পন্দন বেড়ে গেল। সে জানত যে ট্রেনটি যদি ওই ভাঙা জায়গার ওপর দিয়ে যায়, তবে নিশ্চিতভাবে সেটি লাইনচ্যুত হবে, যার ফলে ভয়াবহ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটবে এবং অনেক নির্নিরপরাধ মানুষ মারা যাবে।

সে সাহায্যের জন্য চারদিকে হন্যে হয়ে খুঁজল। কিন্তু মাঠ ছিল জনশূন্য এবং আশেপাশে কাউকে দেখা যাচ্ছিল না। রেল কর্তৃপক্ষকে ফোন করার জন্য তার কাছে কোনো মোবাইলও ছিল না। হাতে ছিল মাত্র কয়েক সেকেন্ড সময়। হঠাৎ তার মনে পড়ল প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়ে পড়া একটি পাঠ—লাল রঙ বিপদ বা গাড়ি থামানোর সংকেত হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

সেদিন রানার স্কুল ইউনিফর্মের অংশ হিসেবে একটি লাল শার্ট পরা ছিল। কোনো কিছু না ভেবেই সে দ্রুত তার শার্টটি খুলে ফেলল। সে রেললাইনের একদম মাঝখানে গিয়ে দাঁড়াল এবং মাথার ওপর লাল শার্টটি ধরে যতটা সম্ভব জোরে নাড়াতে লাগল। সে তার সর্বশক্তি দিয়ে চিৎকার করতে লাগল এই আশায় যে চালক তাকে দেখতে পাবেন।

ট্রেনের চালক অর্থাৎ লোকো-মাস্টার দেখলেন লাইনের ওপর একটি ছোট ছেলে দাঁড়িয়ে লাল কিছু একটা নাড়াচ্ছে। প্রথমে তিনি ভেবেছিলেন হয়তো কোনো শিশু খেলা করছে, কিন্তু কাছে আসার পর তিনি বুঝলেন ছেলেটি খুব মরিয়া হয়ে চেষ্টা করছে। কোনো বিপদ আঁচ করতে পেরে চালক জরুরি ব্রেক চাপলেন। ট্রেনটি বিকট শব্দ করে চাকার ঘর্ষণে আগুনের ফুলকি ছুটিয়ে শেষ পর্যন্ত সেই ভাঙা জায়গার মাত্র কয়েক গজ দূরে এসে থামল।

চালক এবং বেশ কিছু যাত্রী বিভ্রান্ত ও কিছুটা রাগান্বিত হয়ে ট্রেন থেকে নেমে এলেন। কিন্তু রানা যখন তাদের সেই নিখোঁজ স্লিপার এবং রেলের ফাঁকা জায়গাটি দেখাল, তাদের রাগ মুহূর্তে আতঙ্কে পরিণত হলো। তারা বুঝতে পারল এই ছোট ছেলেটি আজ শত শত মানুষের প্রাণ বাঁচিয়েছে। যাত্রীরা তাকে জড়িয়ে ধরল এবং চোখে জল নিয়ে তাকে ধন্যবাদ জানাল। কয়েক দিন পর রেল কর্তৃপক্ষ তার গ্রামে একটি বড় অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে এবং তার সাহসিকতা ও বুদ্ধিমত্তার জন্য তাকে একটি পদক ও বৃত্তি প্রদান করে।

The Intelligence of a Boy

The railway ran through the middle of the village of Ratan, an intelligent boy of 10, was walking over the way. Soon he came to a bridge over the railway. Rantan could see that the bridge was badly destroyed by the current of the floodwater. From the opposite direction a train with many passengers and goods was rushing in a full speed. Rattan felt at a loss what to do with the situation.

Suddenly an idea struck his head. He knew that a stationmaster usually stops the train by fluttering red flag. As he was wearing a red shirt, he thought of giving red signal to the train. Thus putting off his shirt, he began to move it in the air. The driver could understand of any dangerous outcome. He was able to halt the train just before the bridge.

The driver as well as the passengers came down from the train. They were surprised at the art of the boy. The news story was printed in almost every daily. The communication minister came hurriedly to Ratan’s house. He was highly pleased with Ratan and awarded him duly.

Alam’s Quick Thinking

One day, an intelligent boy named Alam was walking near a railway track when he noticed a break in the line. It seemed someone had removed a rail. Alam quickly realized that the railway driver might not be aware of the break, and if a train passed over it, there could be a serious accident. He knew that a mail train would be passing soon, and he grew anxious for the safety of the passengers.

Alam started thinking about how he could prevent the disaster. He knew that if the driver saw a red flag, he would stop the train. The boy immediately decided to use his red shirt as a flag.

Just then, he heard the whistle of the train approaching at full speed. Without wasting a moment, Alam took off his shirt, tied it to a stick, and stood on the railway track, waving it like a flag. The train was coming closer, but Alam did not move from his spot near the break. He kept waving his shirt frantically.

The driver saw Alam waving the shirt and immediately stopped the train. Furious, the driver came over to the boy and asked why he was waving his shirt. Alam pointed out the break in the track.

The driver was amazed by the boy's quick thinking and bravery. He thanked Alam, saying, "You've saved the lives of thousands of people. You're a very intelligent boy. May Allah bless you." The driver was grateful for Alam's heroic act.

Moral: A quick-thinking and intelligent person can save lives and protect property. Society needs more young heroes like Alam, and they should be provided with all the support and opportunities to excel.

In addition to his academic abilities, he had a creative streak. He could innovate and create new things, showcasing his projects at science fairs and receiving multiple awards for his ingenuity.

Despite his remarkable talents, the boy's background was shrouded in mystery as he was an orphan with an obscure family history.

Nevertheless, he rose to fame as a scientist, making significant contributions that garnered attention both nationally and internationally. His groundbreaking work illuminated the world with new discoveries, earning him praise and recognition from around the globe.

Allah Alone Can Help a Man

In the streets of Rome, there were two blind men who lived by begging. Every day, they sat on the road and asked for alms. One of them would call out, “Allah alone can help a man,” while the other would say, “The king alone can help a man.” When people gave them coins, the first blind man would say, “May Allah bless you,” and the second would say, “May the king be pleased with you.”

One day, the king passed by and overheard the two men. He was impressed by the second blind man who praised him. The king wanted to help him, so he returned to his palace and called one of his servants. He handed the servant a loaf of bread filled with gold coins and said, “Go down this road and find the blind man who is shouting, ‘The king alone can help a man.’ Give him this bread and tell him, ‘The king has sent this for you.’”

The servant set out to find the blind man. After walking for a while, he spotted the second blind man. He gave him the loaf of bread and said, “Here is a bread from the king. You may eat it.”

The second blind man felt the bread and thought it was too heavy and poorly baked. So, he decided to sell it to the first blind man. The first blind man, after buying the bread, cut it open and was surprised to find gold coins inside. “Oh Allah, how merciful You are!” he exclaimed in joy. He stopped begging from that day onwards.

As time passed, the king again walked down the same road and saw the second blind man still begging. The king wondered, “I sent him gold coins. Why is he still begging?” The king approached him and asked, “What did you do with the bread I sent you?”

The second blind man replied, “Your Majesty, I thought the bread was poorly baked, so I sold it to my fellow blind man.”

The king smiled and said, “From this, you must learn that Allah alone can help a man, not the king.”

Moral: True help comes from Allah alone, and relying on worldly sources without faith in divine assistance may lead to missed blessings.

সময় গড়ে ওঠার সাথে সাথে, রাজা আবার একই রাস্তা দিয়ে হেঁটে গেল এবং দ্বিতীয় অন্ধ লোকটিকে এখনও ভিক্ষা করতে দেখল। রাজা অবাক হয়ে বললেন, “আমি তাকে সোনার মুদ্রা পাঠিয়েছিলাম। সে এখনও কেন ভিক্ষা করছে?” রাজা তার কাছে এসে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “আমি তোমাকে যে রুটি পাঠিয়েছিলাম তা দিয়ে তুমি কী করেছ?”

দ্বিতীয় অন্ধ লোকটি উত্তর দিল, “মহারাজ, আমি ভেবেছিলাম রুটিটা খারাপভাবে সেঁকা হয়েছে, তাই আমি আমার সহকর্মী অন্ধ লোকটির কাছে এটি বিক্রি করে দিয়েছি।”

রাজা হেসে বললেন, “এখান থেকে, তোমার অবশ্যই শিখতে হবে যে একমাত্র আল্লাহই একজন মানুষকে সাহায্য করতে পারেন, রাজার নয়।”

নীতি: প্রকৃত সাহায্য একমাত্র আল্লাহর কাছ থেকে আসে, এবং ঐশ্বরিক সাহায্যে বিশ্বাস না করে পার্থিব উৎসের উপর নির্ভর করলে আশীর্বাদ থেকে বঞ্চিত হতে পারে।
