Part B — Composition [Marks: 40]
10. Write a paragraph on 'Deforestation'. (10)
Deforestation
Deforestation means the cutting down of trees in large numbers without planting new ones. It is one of the biggest problems in our modern world. There are many reasons behind deforestation. The most common reason is our growing population. As the population increases, people need more land for living and agriculture. So, they cut down forests to build houses, roads, and factories. People also cut trees to get wood for making furniture, paper, and fuel. However, the effects of deforestation are very dangerous. Trees are our best friends because they give us oxygen and take in harmful carbon dioxide. When we cut down trees, the amount of carbon dioxide in the air increases, which causes global warming and climate change. Because of deforestation, the weather is getting hotter, and natural disasters like floods, cyclones, and droughts are happening more often. Many wild animals and birds are losing their natural homes and dying. If we do not stop cutting trees, our beautiful world will soon turn into a dead desert. To save our environment, we must stop deforestation immediately. The government should make strict laws to protect forests. At the same time, we must plant more trees through massive tree plantation programs to make our earth green and safe for the future.
11. Suppose, you are Razu/Roza of Komlapur Secondary School. Your school has no debating club. Write an application to the Headmaster of your school for setting up a debating club in the school. (10)
20 June 2026
To The Headmaster, Komlapur Secondary School, Komlapur.
Subject: Prayer for setting up a debating club.
Sir, We, the students of your reputed school, beg most respectfully to state that our school is one of the famous schools in the district. We have a big library, a computer lab, and a large playground. But it is a matter of great sorrow that there is no debating club in our school.
A debating club is very important for the students. It helps us to develop our speaking skills and logical thinking. Through debates, we can learn how to speak confidently in front of people. It also helps us to gather practical knowledge about the outside world. Many students in our school are very interested in taking part in debate competitions, but we are falling behind because we do not have a proper club to practice.
Therefore, we pray and hope that you would be kind enough to take the necessary steps to set up a debating club in our school as soon as possible and oblige thereby.
Yours obediently,
Razu Roll No: 01 Class: X On behalf of the students of Komlapur Secondary School.
12. Write a composition on "Wonders of Modern Science". (20)
Wonders of Modern Science
We live in an age of science. Modern science has completely changed our daily lives. From the moment we wake up in the morning until we go to sleep at night, we use the gifts of science. It has made our lives easier, more comfortable, and very fast. Science is like a magical lamp that has made the impossible things possible.
The most important and greatest wonder of modern science is electricity. It is the driving force of modern civilization. Electricity lights our houses, runs our fans, washing machines, and refrigerators. It also runs big factories, heavy industries, and modern trains. Without electricity, modern life would completely stop in a single day.
Science has brought a massive revolution in the field of communication. In the past, it took months to send a simple message. Now, we have mobile phones, emails, and the internet. We can talk to our friends and family living in another country in just a few seconds. We can even see their faces through video calls. The whole world has now become a small global village because of modern communication technology.
Science has also removed the distance of places. People used to travel on foot or use animals, which took a lot of time and effort. Now, we have fast buses, modern trains, and cars. Airplanes are one of the greatest wonders. They fly faster than birds and can take us from one country to another in just a few hours.
Modern science has done wonders in the field of medicine. Many dangerous diseases that used to kill thousands of people are now easily curable. Science has given us life-saving medicines, antibiotics, and vaccines. Modern machines like X-rays, ECGs, and MRIs help doctors easily find out the exact problem inside the human body. As a result, people are living much longer and healthier lives today.
Science has also improved our agriculture. Farmers now use modern machines like tractors instead of cows. They use scientific fertilizers and better seeds. Because of science, farmers can grow more food in less time to feed the growing population of the world.
Modern science is undoubtedly the greatest blessing for human beings. It has given us comfort, knowledge, and health. However, some inventions like nuclear bombs are dangerous and can destroy the world. We must use science only for the peace and betterment of humanity, not for destruction.
