Ans. Stories Often Do Not Reflect Reality

It was a holiday. Rimi was staying home alone as her parents had gone to their village home. They told Rimi to remain careful and also assured that they would come back before evening. She thought of making a good use of her lonely time. She was fond of reading adventure stories and so started reading one. Suddenly she heard a sound of an animal like creature. As Rimi was an adventure story lover, she took it differently. She supposed it might be a devilish creature. She instantly felt terrified, and was trembling. The sound was coming frequently. Out of fear, Rimi started crying. She went to a corner of her bed, and lay wrapping herself with a blanket. Suddenly, the sound came very near. Rimi tried to bring courage, and looked curiously. She saw that two bright green eyes were fixed at her. She burst out in a scream and fainted. When she regained her sense, she saw her parents' anxious face before her. Her mother was pouring cool water on her head. Rimi cried out, and hugged her mother. She told everything to them. Her father then said, "Foolish girl, it was a pussy cat that entered our house somehow. I know you're fond of adventure stories, and those stories make you believe in many strange things. My advice is : read those stories for pleasure, but don't take them in literal sense. Because many things in them do not resemble reality." Rimi was ashamed, and vowed not to believe in strange ideas any more.

Rimi's Adventure Gone Wrong

It was a holiday, and Rimi was home alone while her parents had gone to their village house. Before leaving, they warned her to stay cautious and promised to return before evening. With the house all to herself, Rimi decided to make the most of her time. She was an avid reader of adventure stories, so she picked up a book and started reading one.

Suddenly, Rimi heard a strange noise, something that resembled the sound of an animal. Given her love for adventure stories, she quickly imagined it might be some sort of devilish creature. Fear gripped her, and she felt herself trembling. The sound continued, growing louder and more frequent. Overcome with fear, Rimi started to cry. She ran to a corner of her bed, wrapped herself in a blanket, and tried to hide from whatever might be lurking.

The noise grew louder, and soon it was very close. Mustering what little courage she had, Rimi peeked out from under the blanket. To her horror, she saw two bright green eyes staring at her. Terrified, she screamed and fainted.

When Rimi regained consciousness, she found herself in her mother’s arms, with her father looking concerned. Her mother was gently pouring cool water on her forehead to calm her down. As Rimi hugged her mother, still shaking, she explained everything that had happened.

Her father, looking amused, said, "Silly girl, it was just a pussy cat that wandered into the house. I know you love adventure stories, but those stories can sometimes make you believe in things that aren’t real. My advice is to read them for fun, but don’t take them too seriously. Most of those strange things aren’t part of reality."

Feeling embarrassed, Rimi promised to be more sensible and not let her imagination take over her common sense again. She realized that while adventure stories were exciting, they should not cloud her judgment about the real world.

                                     A Day Home Alone

It was a holiday. Rimi was staying home alone as her parents had gone to their village home. They told Rimi to remain careful and also assured that they would come back before evening. She thought of making a good use of her lonely time. She was fond of reading adventurous stories and so started reading one. Suddenly, she heard a sound coming from the locked kitchen door at the back of their apartment.

Rimi stopped reading immediately. Her heart skipped a beat, and the thrilling adventure story she was reading suddenly felt a bit too real. She sat silently on the sofa for a minute, holding her breath, hoping it was just the wind. But then, she heard the distinct, metallic sound of someone aggressively trying to tamper with the kitchen window grill. Rimi realized with horror that a burglar was attempting to break into their house, knowing her parents were away.

Although she was just a teenager and felt extremely frightened, Rimi remembered her parents' advice not to panic in an emergency. She decided to use her presence of mind. Instead of screaming or hiding helplessly under the bed, she tiptoed quietly to the drawing-room and picked up her father's heavy walking stick. Then, she quickly went to the main electrical switchboard and turned off all the lights in the house, plunging the entire apartment into total darkness.

Next, Rimi silently approached the kitchen door and stood completely still in the dark corner. After a few minutes, the burglar successfully managed to break the window lock and carefully climbed inside the kitchen. As soon as the thief's feet touched the floor and he took a step forward in the pitch-black room, Rimi turned on her powerful mobile flashlight right into his eyes, temporarily blinding him. At the exact same moment, she forcefully struck the thief's legs with the heavy walking stick and started blowing a loud emergency whistle she kept in her pocket. The sudden blinding light, the painful blow, and the piercing noise completely disoriented the thief. He panicked, stumbled over a bucket, and fell hard on the kitchen floor. The loud whistle immediately alerted the neighbors, who rushed to the apartment and successfully caught the intruder before he could escape. When Rimi's parents returned, they were incredibly proud of their brave daughter's intelligence.

Moral: Presence of mind is the best weapon in danger.

An Unexpected Little Guest

It was a holiday. Rimi was staying home alone as her parents had gone to their village home. They told Rimi to remain careful and also assured that they would come back before evening. She thought of making a good use of her lonely time. She was fond of reading adventurous stories and so started reading one. Suddenly, she heard a sound coming from the small balcony attached to the drawing-room.

Rimi’s heart started to beat much faster. The thrilling adventure story she was reading made her imagination run wild. She immediately thought a dangerous burglar was trying to climb up the water pipes to break into their apartment. Remembering her parents' warning to be careful, she put her book down silently. She picked up a heavy wooden umbrella from the corner of the room for protection and slowly walked towards the closed balcony door. She took a deep breath, gathered all her courage, and quickly pulled the heavy curtain aside.

To her great surprise, there was no terrifying thief waiting outside. Instead, she saw a tiny, helpless puppy trapped tightly between the iron bars of the balcony grill. The poor animal was shivering with cold and looking completely terrified. The strange noise she heard was just the puppy scratching the door, desperately asking for help.

Rimi immediately dropped her umbrella, and her fear turned into deep sympathy. She carefully untangled the little puppy from the metal grill and brought it inside the safe, warm apartment. She gently dried its dirty fur with an old towel and quickly brought a small bowl of warm milk and some biscuits from the kitchen. The hungry puppy eagerly finished the food and soon fell asleep near her feet. When Rimi's parents returned just before evening, they were very surprised but happy to see their daughter's kind act. They smiled and allowed her to keep the lovely puppy as a pet.

Moral: Compassion and courage can easily turn a scary moment into a beautiful friendship.

A Courageous Mistake

It was a holiday. Rimi was staying home alone as her parents had gone to their village home. They told Rimi to remain careful and also assured that they would come back before evening. She thought of making a good use of her lonely time. She was fond of reading adventurous stories and so started reading one. Suddenly, she heard a sound of a key turning in the front door lock.

Rimi froze in fear. She quickly looked at the wall clock; it was only two o'clock in the afternoon. Her parents had explicitly said they would not return before evening. Her mind raced, fueled by the suspenseful book she was just reading. She was absolutely certain that a cunning thief had somehow managed to get a duplicate key to their apartment.

Determined to protect her home, Rimi decided to act bravely. She quietly slipped into the kitchen and grabbed a heavy frying pan. She hid behind the large curtain near the main entrance, her hands shaking slightly but her grip firm on the pan. The front door slowly creaked open. A tall figure stepped into the dim hallway, carrying a large bag.

Without wasting a single second, Rimi jumped out from behind the curtain, raised the frying pan high, and let out a loud battle cry. "Stop right there!" she screamed.

The figure dropped the bag in sheer panic and yelled, "Rimi! Stop! It's me!"

Rimi paused, blinking in surprise. She turned on the hallway light and saw her older brother, Fahim, standing there looking completely terrified. Fahim studied at a university in another city and had come home early to surprise the family. Looking at Rimi standing there with a frying pan, he suddenly burst into loud laughter. Rimi also started laughing, feeling extremely relieved. They spent the rest of the afternoon happily catching up, though Fahim made sure to tease her about her dangerous weapon.

Moral: Bravery is always admirable, but jumping to conclusions can lead to funny misunderstandings.

The Quick-Thinking Hero

It was a holiday. Rimi was staying home alone as her parents had gone to their village home. They told Rimi to remain careful and also assured that they would come back before evening. She thought of making a good use of her lonely time. She was fond of reading adventurous stories and so started reading one. Suddenly, she heard a sound of loud popping and crackling coming from the kitchen.

At first, Rimi thought it might just be the wind rattling the old kitchen window. But soon, a strange, burning smell reached her nose. She immediately put down her adventure book and walked carefully toward the kitchen to investigate. As she opened the door, she was shocked by what she saw. The main electrical board near the refrigerator was sparking dangerously, and small flames had already started spreading to the nearby window curtains.

Rimi felt a sudden wave of panic, but she remembered the fire safety drills she had learned at school. She knew that throwing water on an electrical fire was extremely dangerous. Instead of screaming or running out blindly, she acted with remarkable presence of mind. She quickly ran to the hallway and switched off the main electrical power supply of the entire apartment.

Then, she grabbed a heavy, thick cotton blanket from her bedroom, soaked it quickly in the bathroom sink, and threw it directly over the burning curtains to cut off the oxygen supply. After that, she immediately opened the front door and shouted for her neighbors. Mr. Rahman, who lived next door, rushed in with a fire extinguisher and completely put out the remaining sparks. When her parents returned and saw the burnt wall, they were terrified but incredibly proud of Rimi. Her quick thinking had saved their home from turning to ashes.

Moral: Staying calm and applying practical knowledge during an emergency can prevent great disasters.
