Intrusion of Alien Culture Eroding Moral Values
On Thursday, Motin, 38, and his daughter Nitu, 9, were murdered inside their home in Motijeel,Dhaka area. Police detained Maliha Begum, wife of victim Motin and Shahin, lover of Maliha, for their alleged involvement in the sensational double murder. Maliha in a confessional statement to the court said that she had planned the double murder following her extra-marital affair with Shahin. During interrogation, Shahin admitted to his involvement in the crime and said Maliha had planned the murder of her husband Motin. Nitu was also killed as she witnessed her father’s killing.
Prof. Munir said, “Alien culture has engulfed us. Facebook, mobile and air culture is being infiltrated through technology. When a foreign culture is accepted, a clash happens with our own culture. It is called Cultural Lag.”
There are many such events taking place in our society which are not compatible to our social values. Sometimes it’s like bad digestion and causes a horrific appearance. Sometimes children are falling victim to illegal relationships of their parents. Because, on one hand people are engaging in more than one relationship and on the other, they are trying to conceal the matter from society. Besides, as the society is changing, basic needs of the people are increasing, lifestyle is changing and the capitalist society system has been infiltrated. As a result, human greed is increasing. Salma Parveen, a clinical psychologist, told The Daily Sun: “Decline in moral values is the main reasons for most of the incidents. But we have to see find out moral values are eroding. Most of the time we see that moral values erodes when somebody fails to fulfil his/her demand or fail to make him/her valuable to others. In this situation, one can take quick and destructive decision.”
Morality is essential to lead a peaceful life. Moral values can ensure social peace, order and justice. Without morality a fruitful honest and durable democratic, administrative and judicial institution cannot be imagined. Moral awareness and conscience among the people of our society and community should be developed

The Alarming Intrusion of Alien Culture and Its Impact on the Youth of Bangladesh
Tanvir Hossain, Staff Reporter, Dhaka, September 20, 2026: The rapid penetration of Western and alien cultures through unchecked satellite television, social media, and unrestricted internet access is significantly reshaping the socio-cultural fabric of Bangladesh. During a recent symposium titled "Cultural Identity in the Age of Globalization" held at the Shilpakala Academy, prominent sociologists and cultural activists expressed deep concern over this growing cultural aggression.
Modern youth are increasingly adopting alien lifestyles, aggressively mimicking foreign fashion trends, dietary habits, and music. The traditional Bengali attire is being rapidly replaced by western clothing, even during indigenous cultural festivals. Furthermore, a disturbing trend of language pollution has emerged, with teenagers frequently mixing English and Hindi with their mother tongue. Experts argue that this blind imitation creates a severe "cultural lag." While the younger generation embraces the superficial aspects of Western capitalism, they are simultaneously becoming detached from core Bengali moral values such as deep familial bonding, respect for elders, and social harmony.
Clinical psychologists present at the symposium highlighted that this cultural confusion often leads to extreme individualism, emotional alienation, and a severe breakdown of family ties. The pursuit of a materialistic western lifestyle is breeding unnatural greed and frustration among the youth. To combat this moral degradation, academicians emphasize the urgent need for a cultural revival. Families and educational institutions must work together to promote indigenous art, literature, and ethical values, ensuring that the youth can accept the technological advancements of the West without sacrificing their own rich cultural identity.

Blind Imitation of Western Culture is Ruining Our Traditional Values
Local Correspondent, Cumilla, September 22, 2026: In recent years, the blind imitation of Western and foreign cultures has become a matter of great worry in our society. Teenagers and young students in Cumilla and other cities are slowly forgetting their rich Bengali heritage because of the heavy influence of foreign TV channels, movies, and social media platforms.
Instead of wearing traditional clothes like panjabi, fatua, or saree, young people now prefer western jeans and tops, even on our national festivals. They are also moving away from healthy homemade traditional food, choosing western fast food like burgers and pizza. However, the most harmful effect of this alien culture is seen in their daily behavior and moral values. Many youths are losing the traditional respect for their parents, teachers, and senior citizens. They spend late nights chatting on the internet or watching foreign series, which ruins their academic life and physical health. Furthermore, they are destroying the beauty of our language by mixing foreign words while speaking.
Local teachers and worried parents recently held a school meeting to discuss this growing problem. They advised that families must actively teach children about our own beautiful culture, history, and moral values from childhood. We should definitely accept the good sides of modern technology and global education, but we must strongly reject the bad cultural habits that destroy our social peace and family bonds.

Bad Effects of Foreign Culture on Our Young Generation
Staff Reporter, Sylhet, October 1, 2026: Foreign culture is slowly taking the place of our beautiful Bengali culture. Nowadays, young boys and girls watch too many foreign programs on television and mobile phones. Because of this, they are trying to copy the lifestyle of other countries without thinking if it is good or bad.
Many students do not want to listen to sweet Bengali songs or read Bengali storybooks. Instead, they listen to loud foreign music and play violent online games all day. This change is very harmful to our society. Young people are forgetting how to speak proper Bengali. They always mix English and Hindi words when they talk with their friends. Also, they do not show proper respect to the elder people in the family. Our traditional beautiful dresses and healthy local foods are losing their value to the new generation.
Parents and teachers are very sad and worried about this bad situation. If this continues, we will soon lose our own identity. We must love our own country and respect our own culture from the bottom of our hearts. We can learn good things from foreign people, but we should never forget our own good habits, moral values, and respect for our parents.
