Staff Reporter, Dhaka, July 5, 2018: Like people, pigs can get influenza, but swine viruses are not the same as human flu viruses. It spreads from person to person and it is happening among people who have not had any contact with pigs. But it is originated from swine. First it is found in Mexico.

Many people died as a consequence. Slowly this virus has spread to America and Europe. Now it is spreading rapidly in Asia. The world Health Organization (WHO) calls it pandemic 2009. It has become an epidemic in Bangladesh. Many people have already been infected and hospitalized in our country. Some people have died also. The H1N1 virus is mainly responsible for this flu. Symptoms of swine flu are like regular flu symptoms and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, headache and sneezing. Many people with swine flu have had diarrhoea and vomiting. If any patient has severe respiratory problem and proper medication is not given in time, he is to face death. But it is a matter of hope that China and Switzerland have already made vaccines. And our country also has proper medication. And special units have been opened in every government hospital.

Special awareness and advice are given repeatedly by the health ministry. It is advised to remain clean all the time, to wash hands properly and not to spit here and there and to use mask while staying outside. By following the advice of the health ministry, we can certainly prevent its spreading and we can remain safe.

Medical professionals at Dhaka Medical College Hospital report an increasing influx of patients presenting severe respiratory complications, with high-risk groups such as young children, pregnant women, and elderly individuals being the most vulnerable to fatal lung infections.

In response, the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) has directed all public hospitals to establish specialized isolation wards and ensure a steady stock of antiviral medications and diagnostic kits. Public health experts strongly emphasize preventive measures, including compulsory mask usage in crowded public spaces, frequent hand washing with soap, and strict respiratory hygiene to break the chain of infection.

Swine Flu Outbreak Creates Panic in Rajshahi City

Local Correspondent, Rajshahi, September 18, 2026: The spread of swine flu has created widespread panic among the residents of Rajshahi town. In the last few weeks, many local hospitals and private clinics have reported a rising number of patients suffering from this viral fever.

Doctors explain that swine flu is a viral illness caused by the H1N1 virus. It spreads easily through sneezing, coughing, and touching infected surfaces. The common symptoms of this disease are high body temperature, runny nose, body ache, sore throat, and severe coughing. Some patients also suffer from stomach pain and vomiting. If a patient does not get proper medical care in time, the infection can cause dangerous breathing problems.

The local civil surgeon has assured the public that proper medicines and vaccines are available in government hospitals. A dedicated isolation unit has been opened at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital to treat flu patients. Swine Flu Spreading in Our Town

Staff Reporter, Sylhet, October 2, 2026: Swine flu is a bad viral disease that is making many people sick in our area. Many boys, girls, and old people are going to the hospital with high fever and heavy coughing.

This disease moves quickly from one person to another when people cough or sneeze without covering their mouths. Patients with swine flu get very weak, have bad body pain, runny noses, and throat problems. Some people also vomit and feel sick in their stomach. If a sick person does not take good medicine, it becomes hard for them to breathe.

The government doctors are working hard to treat the sick people in town. They have made special rooms in the big hospital for flu patients. Doctors say we must keep our hands clean by washing them with soap. We should always wear a simple face mask when we go to the market or school so that the bad virus cannot enter our bodies.
