A Terrible Road Accident at Dhaka- Satkhira Highway

Staff Reporter, Dhaka, July 5, 2018: A terrible road accident took place at Dhaka-Satkhira Highway yesterday. A speedy bus coming from Satkhira collided a private car bound for Satkhira. Hasan, the driver of the private car was seriously wounded. Observing his serious condition some pedestrians being excited began to break the bus. The bus driver was lucky. Causing the accident, he fled away. Therefore, the activity in the street ceased for a few hours. After t a few hours, the DC of Satkhira with police drive rushed to the spot scattered the fomented crowd and figured out how to re-worked the movement. They seized the bus and registered a case negligent driving against the absconding bus driver. In the meantime, the car driver was about to die. He was taken to a nearby hospital. He was hospitalized at emergency unit. But after sometime he was dead. The police are investigating the case. Though the bus owner and the driver have not yet been arrested, they are hopeful to making the case successful and taking drastic action against the criminals. The parents of the boy came there and almost gone to mad to see their son. They lamented again and again, “We had lost my son forever. We do not get him at all. It’s our sad, it’s total life sad.” The state transport minister has announced compensation of TK 200000/- to the families of deceased ones and TK 50000/- to the families of injured ones.

A dreadful accident happened near Sitakund bus stand last night. Seven people, including the bus driver, lost their lives, and around twenty others, including three women and two children, suffered severe injuries. The injured were quickly taken to the hospital by the police.

It all occurred when a passenger bus, carrying about forty people and heading towards Chittagong from Sitakund, attempted to overtake a rickshaw. Unfortunately, at the same time, a truck loaded with stones was approaching from the opposite direction, resulting in a head-on collision. The impact caused the bus to overturn, leading to the instant death of five individuals, including a woman. Many others sustained serious injuries.

The scene was filled with cries and moans of agony from the victims, creating a somber atmosphere. Nearby residents rushed to help those trapped inside the overturned bus, while the local police arrived promptly within fifteen minutes. They assisted in transporting the injured to the Sitakund Sadar Hospital.

At the hospital, ten of the injured received immediate treatment and were discharged, but others remained in critical condition, fighting for their lives. The police filed a case at the Sitakund police station to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The tragic incident left the entire community in shock and mourning, highlighting the importance of road safety measures and caution while driving.

Tragic Head-on Collision on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway Claims Five Lives

Tanvir Hossain, Staff Reporter, Narsingdi, September 13, 2026: At least five people were killed and a dozen others critically injured in a devastating head-on collision between a passenger bus and a microbus on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway near Shibpur upazila early yesterday morning. The catastrophic accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when a reckless, Dhaka-bound inter-district bus attempted to overtake a covered van in dense morning fog, ramming directly into the Sylhet-bound microbus carrying a family returning from a wedding.

The impact of the crash was so severe that the microbus was reduced to a mangled heap of metal. Local residents and highway police rushed to the scene immediately, recovering three bodies on the spot, including a woman and a young child. Fire Service and Civil Defense rescue units had to use heavy hydraulic cutters to extract the trapped victims from the wreckage.

The injured passengers were urgently shifted to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, where two others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment. The fatal crash triggered massive outrage among locals, who blockaded the highway for nearly two hours, demanding speed bumps and strict action against reckless drivers. The blockade was later lifted following assurances from the District Commissioner. Highway police have seized the bus, though the driver managed to flee the scene under the cover of chaos. A case has been filed, and the local administration has announced an emergency compensation of Tk 50,000 for the families of the deceased.

তানভীর হোসেন, স্টাফ রিপোর্টার, নরসিংদী, ১৩ সেপ্টেম্বর, ২০২৬: গতকাল ভোরে শিবপুর উপজেলার কাছে ঢাকা-সিলেট মহাসড়কে যাত্রীবাহী বাস ও মাইক্রোবাসের মধ্যে এক ভয়াবহ মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষে অন্তত পাঁচজন নিহত এবং আরও এক ডজন মানুষ গুরুতর আহত হয়েছেন। সকাল সাড়ে ৭টার দিকে ঘন কুয়াশার মধ্যে ঢাকাগামী একটি বেপরোয়া আন্তঃজেলা বাস একটি কাভার্ড ভ্যানকে ওভারটেক করার চেষ্টা করলে, বিবাহ অনুষ্ঠান থেকে ফেরা পরিবারবাহী সিলেটগামী মাইক্রোবাসটির সাথে সরাসরি ধাক্কা লাগে।

সংঘর্ষের মাত্রা এতই তীব্র ছিল যে মাইক্রোবাসটি দুমড়েমুচড়ে ধাতব স্তূপে পরিণত হয়। স্থানীয় বাসিন্দা ও হাইওয়ে পুলিশ তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে যায় এবং ঘটনাস্থল থেকেই একজন নারী ও এক শিশুসহ তিনজনের মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার করে। ধ্বংসস্তূপ থেকে আটকে পড়া যাত্রীদের বের করতে ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও সিভিল ডিফেন্সের উদ্ধারকারী দলগুলোকে ভারী হাইড্রোলিক কাটার ব্যবহার করতে হয়।

Three Killed in a Terrible Road Crash in Savar

Local Correspondent, Savar, September 10, 2026: Three people lost their lives and five others were badly injured in a tragic road accident on the Dhaka-Aricha highway yesterday afternoon. The accident took place near the Savar bus stand when a speeding truck lost control and hit a passenger-carrying Laguna from behind.

Because of the heavy hit, the Laguna overturned and fell into the roadside ditch. Two passengers died on the spot. Local shopkeepers and pedestrians quickly came forward to rescue the trapped passengers. They stopped passing vehicles and sent the injured people to the nearby Enam Medical College Hospital. Unfortunately, one more person died after reaching the emergency ward.

Angry local people stopped all vehicles on the highway for an hour, creating a long traffic jam. Later, highway police arrived and controlled the situation by convincing the crowd. They removed the broken vehicles from the road with a wrecker and cleared the traffic. Police have arrested the truck driver and sent the dead bodies to the hospital morgue for autopsy. This sad event has created deep shock among the local people.

A Sad Road Accident in Mymensingh

Staff Reporter, Mymensingh, September 5, 2026: A very sad road accident happened yesterday morning near the Mymensingh town. A big passenger bus hit a small CNG auto-rickshaw from the opposite side. The bus was running very fast, and the driver could not use the brakes in time.

The small CNG was completely broken. Two people sitting inside the CNG died quickly on the road. Four other people, including a small boy, got serious pain in their heads and hands. People walking on the road ran to help them. They stopped cars and sent the injured people to the big government hospital.

Many people gathered on the street and started shouting at the bus driver. But the driver ran away leaving the bus behind. The police came fast and took the bus to the police station. Everyone felt very sad for the dead people and their crying families. We must drive cars slowly and carefully to stop these bad accidents.

স্টাফ রিপোর্টার, ময়মনসিংহ, ৫ সেপ্টেম্বর, ২০২৬: গতকাল সকালে ময়মনসিংহ শহরের কাছে একটি খুব দুঃখজনক সড়ক দুর্ঘটনা ঘটেছে। বড় একটি যাত্রীবাহী বাস বিপরীত দিক থেকে আসা একটি ছোট সিএনজি অটোরিকশাকে ধাক্কা দেয়। বাসটি খুব দ্রুত চলছিল এবং চালক সময়মতো ব্রেক করতে পারেনি।

ছোট সিএনজিটি সম্পূর্ণ ভেঙে যায়। সিএনজির ভেতরে বসে থাকা দুজন মানুষ রাস্তায় দ্রুত মারা যান। একটি ছোট ছেলেসহ আরও চারজন মাথায় ও হাতে গুরুতর ব্যথা পান। রাস্তায় হাঁটা মানুষ তাদের সাহায্য করতে ছুটে আসে। তারা গাড়ি থামিয়ে আহত ব্যক্তিদের বড় সরকারি হাসপাতালে পাঠায়।

অনেক মানুষ রাস্তায় জড়ো হয়ে বাসচালকের ওপর চিৎকার করতে শুরু করে। কিন্তু চালক বাসটি রেখেই পালিয়ে যায়। পুলিশ দ্রুত এসে বাসটিকে থানায় নিয়ে যায়। মৃত মানুষ এবং তাদের কান্নারত পরিবারের জন্য সবাই খুব কষ্ট অনুভব করে। এই খারাপ দুর্ঘটনাগুলো বন্ধ করার জন্য আমাদের অবশ্যই ধীরে এবং সাবধানে গাড়ি চালাতে হবে।]
