Staff Reporter, Dhaka, July 5, 2025: A Baisakhi Mela was arranged in the Rotary School and College premises yesterday. The two-day fair mark cultural shows like singing, dancing, play acting, poetry recitation, stand-up comedy, food and other stalls, and raffle draws on one LCD TV, a laptop computer and a DVD player. Food stalls, among other items, sell typical Bengali food items like pitha, payesh, panta-ilish, shutki, jhaal-muri, and cotton candy. Traditional handicrafts, hand-made cakes, special kinds of food stuff, sweets, potteries, bangles, pitchers and cane products are the main exhibits. The fairs also provide entertainment, with staging Jatra, Pala gan, Kavigan, Jarigan and Gambhira Gan. Artistes present folk songs as well as Baul, marfati, Murshidi and Bhatiali songs.

Several hundred Bangalis came to attend this fair and observed the Pohela Boishakh with much fanfare. Young women came to the mela wearing white sari with red borders and adorn themselves with bangles, flowers and tips. Men wear white pyjamas and panjabi. Children enjoyed shows by clowns, face painting and mehendi painting on their hands.

The Baisakhi Mela is an ancient form of Bengali folk festival that continues to thrive in the modern age.

Pahela Baishakh Festivity at Ispahani Public School and College

Staff Reporter, Chattogram, April 15, 2026: Ispahani Public School and College witnessed a magnificent celebration of Pahela Baishakh yesterday. The institution's lush green campus hosted a vibrant two-day Baishakhi Mela that drew thousands of enthusiastic students, teachers, and local guardians into a shared cultural immersion.

The festival grounds were tastefully adorned with colorful palkis, traditional paper festoons, and vibrant alpana motifs drawn meticulously by the fine arts students. Over forty stalls showcased an exquisite variety of traditional Bengali heritage items, including terracotta pottery, cane baskets, handloom sarees, and intricate brass artifacts. Food pavilions became the center of attraction, offering steaming plates of panta-ilish, a variety of sweet and savory pithas, and spicy jhaal-muri.

The cultural extravaganza began early in the morning with a grand Mangal Shobhajatra march across the campus. Throughout the day, an open-air stage hosted mesmerizing performances of folk songs, Baul music, traditional Gambhira, and energetic Lathi khela. Young women attended in traditional red-bordered white sarees adorned with floral ornaments, while young men wore immaculate white panjabis. The grand festival concluded with a raffle draw, leaving the entire college community enriched with cultural pride and joyful memories.

স্টাফ রিপোর্টার, চট্টগ্রাম, ১৫ এপ্রিল, ২০২৬: ইস্পাহানি পাবলিক স্কুল ও কলেজে গতকাল অত্যন্ত জাঁকজমকপূর্ণভাবে পহেলা বৈশাখ উদযাপিত হয়েছে। প্রতিষ্ঠানের সবুজ চত্বরে আয়োজিত দুই দিনব্যাপী এক প্রাণবন্ত বৈশাখী মেলা হাজার হাজার উৎসাহী শিক্ষার্থী, শিক্ষক ও স্থানীয় অভিভাবকদের এক অভূতপূর্ব সাংস্কৃতিক মিলনমেলায় পরিণত করেছিল।

মেলার মাঠটি রঙিন পালকি, কাগজের রঙিন ফেস্টুন এবং চারুকলা শিক্ষার্থীদের নিখুঁত হাতে আঁকা চমৎকার আল্পনা দিয়ে সাজানো হয়েছিল। চল্লিশটিরও বেশি স্টলে টেরাকোটার মৃৎশিল্প, বেতের ঝুড়ি, তাঁতের শাড়ি এবং কারুশিল্পের অপূর্ব নিদর্শন প্রদর্শিত হয়। গরম পান্তা-ইলিশ, নানা পদের পিঠা-পুলি এবং মুখরোচক ঝালমুড়ির স্টলগুলোতে মানুষের ভিড় ছিল সবচেয়ে বেশি।

সকালে ক্যাম্পাসে একটি বর্ণাঢ্য মঙ্গল শোভাযাত্রার মাধ্যমে সাংস্কৃতিক উৎসব শুরু হয়। সারাদিন ধরে একটি মুক্ত মঞ্চে লোকসংগীত, বাউল গান, ঐতিহ্যবাহী গম্ভীরা এবং লাঠি খেলার মনোমুগ্ধকর পরিবেশনা দর্শকদের মাতিয়ে রাখে। তরুণীরা লাল পাড় সাদা শাড়ি ও ফুলের গহনায় এবং যুবকরা সাদা পাঞ্জাবীতে সেজে মেলায় অংশ নেয়। একটি আকর্ষণীয় র‍্যাফেল ড্রয়ের মাধ্যমে উৎসবের সমাপ্তি ঘটে, যা পুরো কলেজ পরিবারকে সাংস্কৃতিক গর্ব ও আনন্দের স্মৃতিতে সমৃদ্ধ করে।]

Boishakhi Mela Celebrated at Rajshahi Government Girls' High School

Local Correspondent, Rajshahi, April 15, 2026: A wonderful Boishakhi Mela was arranged in the courtyard of Rajshahi Government Girls' High School yesterday to welcome the Bengali New Year. The whole school looked very colorful and happy with red and white decorations.

Students and teachers set up many small stalls displaying handmade crafts, clay toys, glass bangles, and traditional dolls. There were also food stalls selling delicious items like payesh, pitha, and various sweets. Many parents and local people came to visit the fair and bought beautiful things for their homes.

The morning program started with a joyful cultural show. Students sang chorus songs like Asho Hey Boishakh and performed traditional dances wearing colorful clothes. Some talented students also recited poems and performed short dramas about rural life. Little children enjoyed getting their faces painted and watching puppet shows. Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating our rich culture together.

শিক্ষার্থী ও শিক্ষকরা হস্তশিল্প, মাটির তৈরি খেলনা, কাঁচের চুড়ি এবং ঐতিহ্যবাহী পুতুল প্রদর্শনের জন্য অনেক ছোট ছোট স্টল বসান। এছাড়া পায়েস, পিঠা এবং নানা ধরনের মিষ্টির সুস্বাদু খাবারের স্টলও ছিল। অনেক অভিভাবক ও স্থানীয় মানুষ মেলা দেখতে আসেন এবং নিজেদের বাড়ির জন্য সুন্দর জিনিসপত্র কেনেন।

সকালের অনুষ্ঠানটি একটি আনন্দদায়ক সাংস্কৃতিক পরিবেশনার মধ্য দিয়ে শুরু হয়। শিক্ষার্থীরা রঙিন পোশাক পরে সমবেত গান "এসো হে বৈশাখ" ও ঐতিহ্যবাহী নৃত্য পরিবেশন করে। কিছু মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী পল্লী জীবন নিয়ে কবিতা আবৃত্তি ও ছোট নাটকও উপস্থাপন করে। ছোট শিশুরা মুখে রঙ করা ও পুতুল নাচ দেখে খুব আনন্দ পায়। আমাদের সমৃদ্ধ সংস্কৃতি একসাথে উদযাপনের মধ্য দিয়ে সবাই দারুণ সময় কাটায়।]

Happy Boishakhi Mela at a Local Primary School

Staff Reporter, Sylhet, April 15, 2026: Yesterday, our village primary school celebrated a very happy Boishakhi Mela. The school playground was decorated with colorful paper flags and green mango leaves. All the little boys and girls came to school wearing bright and new dresses.

The teachers arranged a small stage under a big banyan tree. The children sang sweet Bengali songs and danced happily. Everyone clapped and cheered for them. After the cultural show, the children visited the small food and toy stalls. They bought balloons, whistles, clay horses, and sweet candies.

The mothers and grandmothers also came to see the fun. They bought traditional hand fans and clay pots. The school headmaster gave small prizes to the children who sang the best songs. It was a very joyful and sunny day for everyone in our village.

স্টাফ রিপোর্টার, সিলেট, ১৫ এপ্রিল, ২০২৬: গতকাল আমাদের গ্রামের প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়ে খুব আনন্দের সাথে একটি বৈশাখী মেলা উদযাপিত হলো। স্কুলের খেলার মাঠটি রঙিন কাগজের পতাকা এবং কাঁচা আমের পাতা দিয়ে সাজানো হয়েছিল। সব ছোট ছেলেমেয়ে নতুন ও উজ্জ্বল পোশাক পরে স্কুলে এসেছিল।

শিক্ষকরা একটি বড় বটগাছের নিচে একটি ছোট মঞ্চ তৈরি করেছিলেন। শিশুরা মিষ্টি বাংলায় গান গেয়েছিল এবং আনন্দের সাথে নেচেছিল। সবাই তাদের জন্য হাততালি দিয়ে উৎসাহ জুগিয়েছে। সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের পর শিশুরা ছোট খাবারের ও খেলনার স্টলগুলো ঘুরে দেখে। তারা বেলুন, বাঁশি, মাটির ঘোড়া ও মিষ্টি লজেন্স কেনে।

মায়েরা ও দাদীরাও আনন্দ দেখতে এসেছিলেন। তারা ঐতিহ্যবাহী হাতপাখা ও মাটির হাঁড়ি কেনেন। স্কুলের প্রধান শিক্ষক সেরা গান গাওয়া শিশুদের হাতে ছোট পুরস্কার তুলে দেন। আমাদের গ্রামের সবার জন্য দিনটি খুব আনন্দের ও রোদের আলোয় ভরা ছিল।]
