113th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam observed

Staff Reporter, Dhaka, July 5, 2018: 113th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam has been observed across the country with pomp. To celebrate the day different social and cultural organizations held elaborate programmes. The day also marks the 90th anniversary of the publication of his most famed creation “Bidrohi”.

To celebrate the 113th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam as well as to mark the 90th anniversary of the great poem “Bidrohi”, Nazrul Academy organized a three day festival. The festival was inaugurated at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum by Begum Uma Kazi, daughter- in-law of the poet. She attended the programme as the chief guest. The festival Included discussion, music, dance, recitation and award giving ceremony.

Khilkhil Kazi, grand daughter of the poet; research and publication secretary of Nazrul Academy M Mizanur Rahman; Nashid Kamal, member of the academy; M Atikur Rahman, joint -secretary of the academy; among others, spoke on the occasion. Noted poets, educationalists, and the numerous Nazrul-Devotees were present there. The president of Nazrul Academy Dr. Ashraf Siddiqui presided over the programme.

Dr Ashraf Siddiqui said, “Through his poems and songs, Nazrul had inspired people to fight against injustice, cruelty and repression during the British colonial rule. His songs and poems were also a key source of inspiration for the freedom fighters during the Liberation War.”

Beside this, different social and cultural organizations held elaborate programmes to celebrate the day. Schools, Colleges and Universities of the country are observing the day.

Rajshahi College Celebrates Nazrul's Birth Anniversary

Staff Reporter, Rajshahi, May 26, 2026: The 127th birth anniversary of our National Poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam, was observed at Rajshahi College yesterday with deep respect and grand festivities. The college's Bengali Department organized a day-long program titled 'Rebel and Rhythm' at the central auditorium to honor the literary icon.

The event commenced at 9:00 a.m. with the placing of floral wreaths at the poet's portrait. Later, an academic seminar took place where eminent educationist Professor Dr. Abdul Khaleque graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his keynote address, he elaborated on Nazrul's philosophy of equality and his fierce stance against British colonialism. "Nazrul's fiery verses did not just awaken a sleeping nation; they laid the ideological foundation for our Liberation War," he remarked.

Following the intellectual discourse, a mesmerizing cultural segment captivated the audience. Students of the department performed a synchronized recitation of 'Kandari Hushiar' and staged a short drama based on his famous story 'Padmagokhro'. The college choir also rendered several Nazrul Sangeet pieces, filling the hall with a sense of patriotism. The Principal concluded the ceremony by distributing prizes among the winners of the Nazrul essay competition, inspiring the youth to embrace the poet's non-communal spirit.

স্টাফ রিপোর্টার, রাজশাহী, ২৬ মে, ২০২৬: আমাদের জাতীয় কবি কাজী নজরুল ইসলামের ১২৭তম জন্মবার্ষিকী গতকাল রাজশাহী কলেজে গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও জাঁকজমকপূর্ণ উৎসবের মধ্য দিয়ে পালিত হয়েছে। এই মহান সাহিত্যিককে সম্মান জানাতে কলেজের বাংলা বিভাগ কেন্দ্রীয় মিলনায়তনে 'বিদ্রোহ ও ছন্দ' শীর্ষক দিনব্যাপী এক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে।

সকাল ৯টায় কবির প্রতিকৃতিতে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণের মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয়। পরে একটি তাত্ত্বিক সেমিনার অনুষ্ঠিত হয়, যেখানে বিশিষ্ট শিক্ষাবিদ অধ্যাপক ড. আবদুল খালেক প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। তার মূল বক্তব্যে তিনি নজরুলের সাম্যের দর্শন এবং ব্রিটিশ উপনিবেশবাদের বিরুদ্ধে তার তীব্র অবস্থানের কথা বিস্তারিতভাবে তুলে ধরেন। তিনি বলেন, "নজরুলের অগ্নিকণ্ঠের কবিতা কেবল একটি ঘুমন্ত জাতিকে জাগ্রত করেনি; বরং তা আমাদের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের আদর্শিক ভিত্তি স্থাপন করেছিল।"

Nazrul's Birthday Celebrated at Cumilla Victoria College

Local Correspondent, Cumilla, May 26, 2026: The teachers and students of Cumilla Victoria Government College celebrated the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam yesterday. The college authority arranged a beautiful cultural program in the campus hall room to remember the great poet.

The program started in the morning with the singing of the national anthem. After that, the Principal of the college, Hasina Begum, inaugurated the event. She gave a very inspiring speech about the poet. She told the students how Kazi Nazrul Islam wrote poems and songs to fight against injustice. She said that young people should learn courage and love for the country from Nazrul's life.

The best part of the day was the cultural function. Many talented students sang popular Nazrul songs and danced beautifully. A group of students recited his famous poem 'Bidrohi'. Everyone in the audience clapped loudly and enjoyed the performances. At the end of the program, the chief guest gave prizes to the students who won the poetry recitation competition. The day ended with a lot of joy and respect for the national poet.

Dhanmondi Boys' School Remembers Kazi Nazrul Islam

Staff Reporter, Dhaka, May 26, 2026: Yesterday, Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School observed the birthday of our National Poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam. The school arranged a very nice program to show respect to this great man. All the teachers and students were very happy to join the festival.

The program started at 10:00 a.m. in the big school field. First, the Headmaster put beautiful flowers in front of the poet's picture. Then, he talked to the students about Nazrul's life. He said that Nazrul was a brave man who loved his country very much. He told the young boys to be brave and honest like the poet.

After the speech, the school boys performed many nice things. Some boys sang Nazrul's songs with a harmonium. Little boys from class six recited his funny poems. Everyone liked the beautiful singing and poetry reading. The parents also came to watch the show and clapped for the students. The teachers gave books as prizes to the best singers. The happy day ended with a sweet song.

সকাল ১০টায় স্কুলের বড় মাঠে অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয়। প্রথমে প্রধান শিক্ষক কবির ছবির সামনে সুন্দর ফুল দেন। তারপর তিনি শিক্ষার্থীদের সাথে নজরুলের জীবন নিয়ে কথা বলেন। তিনি বলেন নজরুল একজন সাহসী মানুষ ছিলেন যিনি তার দেশকে খুব ভালোবাসতেন। তিনি ছোট ছেলেদের কবির মতো সাহসী ও সৎ হতে বলেন।
