Beggar Nuisance Disrupts Academic Environment on Campus

An educational campus is a place for peaceful study and intellectual discussions. However, recently, the increasing number of beggars on the college and university campuses has become a major source of inconvenience for both students and teachers. It is severely ruining the peaceful academic environment.

Nowadays, beggars of all ages are seen roaming freely everywhere on the campus. They enter the open classrooms, libraries, cafeterias, and even the resting rooms. Students cannot sit peacefully under the trees or gossip with their friends because beggars constantly approach them. They repeatedly ask for money and sometimes use emotional blackmail. If the students refuse to give money, some beggars become very irritating. They pull the bags or clothes of the students, which is very embarrassing.

Furthermore, this continuous disturbance breaks the concentration of the students when they study for their exams or complete their assignments. Female students feel especially uncomfortable when unknown beggars surround them forcefully.

A campus should be a secure and quiet zone, not a public street. To solve this irritating problem, the college administration must take strict steps immediately. The security guards at the main gates must be more active and completely restrict the entry of outsiders and beggars into the campus area.

Rise of Professional Beggars Poses Security Threat on Campus

The presence of beggars on the university campus has crossed all limits, causing severe harassment to students. Beyond just being a daily inconvenience, the uncontrolled entry of beggars has now become a massive security threat for the entire educational institution.

According to the students, many of the people begging on the campus are not actually poor or helpless. Instead, they are professional beggars who are often controlled by local criminal syndicates. These fake beggars use the campus as a safe place to collect money. Sometimes, under the disguise of begging, many of them commit petty crimes. There are frequent reports of stolen mobile phones, laptops, bicycles, and money bags from the campus area.

Moreover, as evening approaches, the campus becomes quite dark and empty. During this time, these wandering beggars often behave aggressively. They forcefully stop students, especially female students, and demand money in a threatening tone. As a result, the students feel highly unsafe walking on their own campus after sunset.

The students come to the campus to gain knowledge, not to face daily harassment and theft. The university authorities cannot ignore this serious issue anymore. They must ensure a safe and protected boundary wall. Only students with valid ID cards should be allowed to enter the campus, and all suspicious outsiders must be handed over to the police.

Students Demand Immediate Ban on Beggars Inside Campus

Following an unfortunate incident of harassment by a beggar, the general students of Dhaka City College formed a human chain yesterday. They strongly protested against the daily inconvenience caused by beggars and demanded a strict and permanent ban on the entry of all beggars into the campus.

The incident occurred yesterday morning when a female student was verbally abused by an aggressive beggar near the college cafeteria for refusing to give money. This created a massive anger among the general students. Hundreds of students gathered in front of the Principal's office, holding placards that read "Campus is for Students, Not for Beggars" and "We Want a Safe Campus."

The protesting students stated that the beggar problem has reached an unbearable level. During class hours, exams, and free time, beggars continuously disturb them. They enter the academic buildings without any fear. The students argued that the college pays for security guards, but the guards carelessly allow outsiders to enter the campus.

Later, student representatives submitted a formal memorandum to the Principal, giving a three-day ultimatum to clear the campus of all beggars and hawkers. The Principal expressed his sorrow over the incident and agreed with the logical demands of the students. He assured them that from the next day, strict security checking would be maintained at the main gate, and no unauthorized person would be allowed inside the campus.
