All Board Questions-2025

Change the narrative style by using indirect speeches. 

1. "Oh, my Lord, do not kill the child," said the woman. "Let her have it." The king said, "Now everything is clear to me." Pointing to the woman, he said to the servant, "Give her the child. She is the mother of the child." (Chattogram Board-2025; Dhaka Board-2024; Barishal Board-2022) 

2. "Have you killed the rats?" said the Mayor. "Yes, I have," replied the piper. "Give me the promised money." "How funny you are!" said the Mayor. "Take only fifty." 3. "Where are you going?" said the merchant. "I was coming to see you." "What do you want?" "To earn my bread by the labour of my hands." "Do you really want work?" said the merchant. "Yes, if you have any." "Then follow me and carry a box from a shop to my house." "I do not see how I can do that," said the youth. (Dhaka Board-2025) 

4. "What kind of stories did Aesop tell?" asked Anwar. "Fables," replied Mrs. Amin. "Do you know what fables are?" "No," replied Anwar. "Well," said Mrs Amin. "Fables are stories with a message or a moral." "Who is Aesop and where does he live?" asked Anwar. "Aesop entertained people telling stories," said Mrs Amin. 5. After telling the story of a sinking ship, the teacher asked the students, "What do you think the drowning woman told to her husband?" According to most of the students the woman said, "Please, save my life." From the back bench a boy said, "I believe, she would have told-take care of our child." Being surprised the teacher asked him, "Have you heard the story before?" "No, sir. Actually these were also my mom's last words to my dad before she died from a serious disease." 6. "Why are you putting up the food in your pocket, Sir? Why don't you eat?" asked the nobleman. "I am doing the right thing. My dress deserves these rich dishes," replied Sheikh Saadi. "I don't understand what you mean to say," said the nobleman. "And I'm sorry." (Dinajpur Board-2025) 

7. "Have you seen your mother, Jerry?" "I see her in every summer. She sends for me." The authoress wanted to cry out, "Why are you not with her? How can she let you go away again?" He said, "She comes up here from Mannville whenever she can. She does not have a job now." (Sylhet Board-2025) 

8. The three witches stood amidst the swirling mist. "When shall we three meet again?" asked the first witch. "When the hurly-burly is done; when the battle is lost and won," replied the second witch. "Where is the place?" inquired the third with her impatient tone. "Upon the heath," answered the first. (Mymensingh Board-2025) 

9. "I will pay for it," he said. "I broke it. I brought the axe down careless." "But no one hits accurately every time," I told him. "The fault was in the wood of the handle. I will see the man from whom I bought it." "Thanks," he said. (Jashore Board-2025) 

All Board Questions-2025 Answer

1. Addressing the king as her Lord, the woman earnestly requested him not to kill the child and told the king that she (the other woman) can have the child. Hearing this plea of the woman, the king said that everything was clear to him. Pointing to the woman, the king again ordered the servant to give her the child because she was the mother of the child.

2. The Mayor asked the piper if he had killed the rats. The piper replied in the affirmative that he (p) had killed the rats. He (p) then told the Mayor to give him (p) the promised money. The Mayor exclaimed with wonder that he was very funny and ordered the piper to take only fifty. In reaction, the piper said that he (p) had been supposed to be given five thousand guilders. Being angry, the Mayor asked him what he (p) had done. He (M) added that the work he had done was very simple.

3. The merchant asked the youth where he (y) was going. The youth replied that he had been going to see him (m). The merchant again asked the youth what he (y) wanted. In reply, the youth told the merchant that he (y) wanted to earn his bread by the labour of his hands. The merchant then wanted to know if he (y) really wanted work. The youth promptly replied that he wanted work and requested to give him work if he (m) had any. The merchant then ordered him (y) to follow him (m) and carry a box from a shop to his (m) house. The youth expressed his inability saying that he (y) did not see how he could do that.

4. Anwar asked Mrs. Amin what kind of stories Aesop had told. Mrs. Amin replied that they were fables. She asked him if he knew what fables are. Anwar replied in the negative. Considering the fact, Mrs. Amin continued saying that fables are stories with a message or a moral. Anwar again asked who Aesop was and where he (Aesop) lived. In reply, Mrs. Amin said that Aesop had entertained people by telling stories.

5. After telling the story of a sinking ship, the teacher asked the students what they thought the drowning woman had told to her husband. Expressing his (n) sorrow, the nobleman said that he (n) did not understand what he (S) meant to say.

7. The authoress asked Jerry if he had seen his mother. Jerry replied that he saw her every summer and added that she sent for him. The authoress wanted to cry out and asked why he (J) was not with her (m) and also said how she (m) could let him (J) go away again. Jerry replied that she (m) came up there from Mannville whenever she could. He (J) also said that she (m) did not have a job then.

The second witch replied that they would meet again when the hurly-burly was done and when the battle was lost and won. Then the third witch with her impatient tone inquired where the meeting place was. The first one answered that their meeting place would be upon the heath.

Also, I emphasised that the fault had been in the wood of the handle. I also said that I would see the man from whom I had bought it. Then being convinced, he thanked me.

Direct Speech: The class teacher said to the students, “Do you like to go on a study tour?” “Yes,” said all the students. Then he said, “Take the permission from your parents.” One of the students said, “Let us go to Cox's Bazar ?” The Principal said, “May your journey be safe and sound.”

He further said that he was in a hurry for this reason.

The bank manager requested him (K) to go to the front desk and added that the officer would help him (K). Mr. Kalam thanked the bank manager very much.

Habib assured him and thanked him a lot.

He (R) added that his (R) dream was a full plate of rice. Instantly, Zayed told him (R) to go with him (Z). He (Z) added that he (Z) was going to materialize his (R) dream. Robi exclaimed in wonder that he (Z) was very kind.

9. Change the narrative style by using Indirect speeches: [Mymensingh Board-2023]
