অনেক আগে বাংলায় গিয়াসউদ্দিন বলবন নামে এক সুলতান ছিলেন। তার রাজধানী ছিল ঢাকার অদূরে সোনারগাঁয়ে। তিনি ছিলেন অত্যন্ত দয়ালু ও ন্যায়পরায়ণ শাসক। একদিন সে এক জঙ্গলে হরিণ শিকার করছিল। সে একটা তীর ছুঁড়ল একটা ফুনের দিকে। দৈবক্রমে, এটি জঙ্গলে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা একটি ছেলেকে বিদ্ধ করে এবং ছেলেটি তাত্ক্ষণিকভাবে মারা যায়। ছেলেটি ছিল বিধবার একমাত্র ছেলে। বিধবা খুবই মর্মাহত হল। তিনি বিচারের জন্য সুলতানের বিরুদ্ধে কাজীর কাছে অভিযোগ করেন। কাজী সুলতানকে বিচারের জন্য তার দরবারে তলব করেন।Ad

The Grocer and the Fruitseller
One day, a grocer borrowed a balance and weights front a fruitseller. After a few days, the fruitseller asked the grocer to return his balance and weights. The grocer was dishonest and showed an excuse that the mice ate away his balance and weights. I am sorry that I can't return them to you," The grocer said. The lame excuse of the dishonest grocer made the fruitseller very furious. But he controlled his temper and said, "Never mind. I can't blame you. It's my bad luck." The grocer thought to himself "The illiterate fruitseller is a great fool."
Then one day, the fruitseller said to the grocer, "I am going to the town to do some shopping. Please send your son with me to carry my things. We will come back tomorrow." So the grocer sent his son with the fruitseller. The next day the fruitseller came back alone from the town.
"Where is my son?" asked the grocer. "A crow carried your son away" replied the fruitseller. "You liar. How can a crow carry away such a big boy?" the grocer shouted angrily. "Just the same way as mice can eat away the balance and weights," said the fruitseller.
The grocer understood the point. He returned the balance and weights to the fruitseller and apologised to him with tearful eyes, "I wronged you greatly by lying to you about your weight and balance. I will give them back to you. Please forgive me and give me back my son." Then the fruitseller sent the boy back to his father.

I am going to town to bring some goods.
The grocer allowed his son to go with the seller. The next day the fruit seller came back home from the town alone. The son of the grocer was not with him. So, the grocer asked the fruit seller, “Where is my son?” The seller replied, “A crow has picked your son away.” The grocer got furious hearing this surprising answer. He shouted loudly and said, “How a tiny crow can bring a grown up boy?” The fruit seller replied with a gentle smile, “Just like the way the mouse can eat up the iron scales and weights.”
Hearing this, the grocer realized his fault. He returned the balance and weights and asked for his pardon. At last the fruitseller gave back the son to the grocer. In this way, the fruit seller teaches the grocer a good lesson.
Moral of the story: Don’t be dishonest and greedy and never try to cheat with other.
