Sufia is a worker in a big garments factory. More than few thousand workers work in that factory. One day while she was busy in work a sound was heard. "Fire! Fire! Help! Help!" Halima, a co-worker of Sufia. rushed to her and said, "Leave the building! Hurry! A fire has broken out. It'll spread." Sufia was scared. She was about to leave. But all at once she recalled that she had some intimate friends in the factory. They worked quite a little away. They mightn't have heard about the fire incident. So it was her duty to inform them. She ran apace to the eastern corner of the building. There three of her friends were making a block-print. Sufia said to them, "Hurry! Leave the building! It has caught a fire.

All those girls shouted to the other workers to get out of the building. Then there was a din and bustle. All moved toward the stair. Every one of them tried to get out before others. Some of them feared lest the stair should collapse.

However, they left the factory building and were waiting outside in tension. A fire brigade came. The fire-fighters extinguished the fire. Then they searched inside the building. After about half an hour, three dead bodies were brought out. Besides, the fire-fighters carried two wounded workers on a stretcher. An ambulance took them to a hospital. There was a pathetic scene there. Some family members of the dead workers were crying aloud. Many others shed tears. The owner of the factory vowed to identify the reason of the fire and compensate the dead workers' families.

The Farmer and the Fugitive Boy

It was a cold winter morning when a farmer, on his way to the field, found a boy lying by the roadside, nearly dead from the cold. The boy was a teenager, hardly sixteen years old, his body shivering uncontrollably. The sight of the boy, in such a miserable condition, reminded the farmer of his own son, who was of the same age. Compassion for the boy stirred something deep inside the farmer. He could not leave him there to perish alone. With a father’s love rising in him, the farmer lifted the boy onto his shoulder and carried him home.

The boy, however, was no ordinary stranger. He was a fugitive, a gang member, and a wanted criminal. The police were after him because he was involved in a brutal murder. For several days, he had been running from the law, hiding wherever he could and going without food. His escape had been relentless and tiring. Finally, as he was fleeing from the police, he had tried to jump off a passing bus but had injured himself severely, collapsing on the roadside where the farmer had found him.

The farmer took the boy into his warm home. He placed him near the fireplace, gave him warm milk, and wrapped him in a thick blanket to stave off the cold. After making sure the boy was comfortable, the farmer rushed out to call a doctor for help. The boy, despite his condition, was deceitful and told the farmer a fabricated story about himself. He made up convincing details that made the farmer believe he was simply an unfortunate soul in need of care. With the boy's tale and the kind gestures from the farmer, the boy’s fate seemed to be taking a turn for the better.

Over the next few days, the boy received medical attention, food, and care. His health slowly improved, and the farmer, pleased with his recovery, allowed the boy to stay at his home for a few more days. But fate had other plans.

One day, the farmer and his family were invited to visit a close friend’s house. Before leaving, the farmer turned to the boy and said, “Listen, my dear, we’ve received an invitation to the house of my close friend. Will you come with us?” The boy, who had no intention of staying under the farmer's roof any longer, replied, “No, uncle, I’d rather stay home.”

The farmer, being kind-hearted, nodded and said, “Ok, no problem. Please stay here and take care of the house while we’re gone.” With that, the farmer and his family left, trusting the boy to look after the house in their absence.

Once alone, the boy, true to his criminal nature, sprang into action. He began to search through the house, collecting anything of value he could find. Jewelry, cash, and other valuables were stolen, and the boy quietly slipped away, leaving the farmer’s home behind forever.

When the farmer returned home later that day, he was met with an unpleasant sight. The house was in disarray, and the valuables were gone. Shock and sorrow filled the farmer’s heart as he realized that the boy he had taken in, treated like his own, had betrayed his kindness.

Sitting down in disbelief, the farmer thought to himself, "The boy must be a product of bad upbringing. No matter how much kindness he received, he could not change his true nature." He was deeply saddened by the loss, but more than that, he felt a sense of regret for placing his trust in someone who was so unworthy of it.

Despite the pain, the farmer did not allow his heart to turn completely cold. He still felt a deep sense of compassion for the boy, even after everything that had happened. He said a prayer, wishing the boy a better life, hoping that someday, somehow, the boy would find redemption and happiness.
