Write an application to the Principal of your college requesting permission and necessary facilities to organize a Creative Writing Workshop for the students.
15 June 2026
The Principal,
Dhaka City College,
Dhaka.
Subject: Application for permission to organize a Creative Writing Workshop.
Sir,
With due respect and humble submission, we, the students of your esteemed college, would like to draw your kind attention to an educational initiative we wish to undertake. We are highly enthusiastic about organizing a comprehensive Creative Writing Workshop on our college campus next month.
While our regular academic curriculum excellently prepares us for board examinations, it primarily focuses on structured formats and strict grammatical accuracy. Consequently, many students rely heavily on memorizing pre-written essays and paragraphs to secure good grades. They rarely get the opportunity or the proper environment to explore their original ideas, build strong narratives, or develop an independent, creative voice in the English language.
To address this gap, we plan to arrange a day-long workshop focused entirely on original storytelling, poetry, and expressive feature writing. We intend to invite a few notable contemporary authors and senior journalists to conduct interactive drafting sessions with the students. To successfully execute this event, we require your official permission to use the main college auditorium and a small administrative grant to provide necessary writing materials and basic refreshments.
We, therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to appreciate this academic initiative and grant us the necessary permission and facilities, thereby obliging us.
Yours obediently,
Sajid Hasan
On behalf of the students
Write a formal email to the Head of the English Department requesting him to act as the chief facilitator for an upcoming Creative Writing Workshop.
Subject: Invitation to act as the Chief Facilitator for a Creative Writing Workshop
Dear Sir,
I am writing to you on behalf of the college literary club to formally propose the arrangement of a specialized Creative Writing Workshop for our senior students. Knowing your profound expertise in English literature and composition, we are respectfully reaching out to request your presence as the chief facilitator for this academic event.
Our current examination system unfortunately encourages a heavy reliance on rote memorization for compositions, formal letters, and standard essays. While our students consistently secure excellent grades, they often struggle when asked to write an original piece outside the prescribed board syllabus. We believe a dedicated workshop is urgently needed to help students break this habit, overcome their fear of making mistakes, and discover the joy of expressing their unique thoughts on paper.
We have planned to hold the workshop on the upcoming Saturday morning in the central seminar hall. The sessions will focus entirely on practical exercises, including character development, descriptive writing, and structuring short stories. We deeply need your professional guidance to lead these interactive exercises and provide constructive, real-time feedback to the participating students, making the learning process highly effective.
I strongly urge you to accept our humble invitation to mentor the students during this creative endeavor. We eagerly await your positive response and would be incredibly grateful for a brief meeting to finalize the workshop schedule at your earliest convenience.
Best regards,
Sajid Hasan
Secretary, College Literary Club
