Questions and Answers
PART I: Musical Instruments
Which instrument do you like listening to most? Why?
I really enjoy listening to the piano. It’s such a versatile instrument that can express everything from joy to sadness, and it creates such a calming atmosphere. Plus, I love how piano music fits well in any situation, whether I'm relaxing or studying.
Have you ever learned to play a musical instrument? Which one?
Yes, I learned to play the guitar when I was a teenager. I wasn’t very serious about it, but I enjoyed learning a few songs. It’s actually a fun way to spend time and a good skill to have if you like music.
Do you think children should learn to play a musical instrument at school? Why/Why not?
Absolutely. Learning an instrument can be incredibly beneficial. It helps kids develop discipline, patience, and even creativity. Plus, it’s a great way for them to express themselves. It’s not only about the music but the skills they pick up along the way.
How easy would it be to learn to play an instrument without a teacher? Why?
It’s possible but challenging. Without a teacher, you miss out on proper techniques and guidance, which can slow down progress. However, with so many resources online these days, it’s definitely doable if you’re motivated and consistent with practice.
PART II: Describe Something Healthy You Enjoy Doing
One healthy activity I enjoy is jogging in the park. I try to go early in the morning, usually around sunrise, when the air feels fresh and there aren’t too many people around.
I usually jog at a park close to my house, where there’s a dedicated track that loops around a small lake. It’s a peaceful spot, with plenty of greenery, and sometimes you see ducks swimming or birds chirping. I often go alone, but occasionally a friend will join me for extra motivation.
Jogging feels healthy because it boosts my energy and keeps me physically fit. It also clears my mind and reduces any stress I might be feeling. I think it’s a fantastic way to stay active and get some fresh air, and it always leaves me feeling refreshed and ready for the day.
PART III: Discussion Topics
Keeping Fit and Healthy
What do most people do to keep fit in your country?
In my country, people do a variety of things to stay fit. Many prefer going for morning walks or jogs, while others join gyms or yoga classes. Group activities like cycling and dancing have also become quite popular, as they make staying fit more social and enjoyable.
How important is it for people to do some regular physical exercise?
Regular exercise is essential. It doesn’t just keep your body healthy; it also boosts your mental well-being. People who exercise often feel more energetic and less stressed, so it’s really beneficial for overall health and productivity.
Health and Modern Lifestyles
Why do some people think that modern lifestyles are not healthy?
Many feel that modern lifestyles involve too much sitting, whether it’s at work or in front of a screen at home. Fast food is also more convenient now, and people often don’t have enough time to cook healthy meals or get enough sleep, which contributes to an unhealthy lifestyle.
Why do some people choose to lead unhealthy lives?
Often, it’s due to convenience and lack of time. When people are busy, they might find it easier to pick fast food over cooking or skip exercise because they’re exhausted. It can also be due to stress, which sometimes leads people to prioritize work over health.
Should individuals or governments be responsible for making people's lifestyle healthy?
Both play a role. Individuals should make healthy choices, but governments can help by creating environments that support those choices, like making healthier foods more affordable or building parks for exercise. It’s a shared responsibility.
What could be done to encourage people to live in a healthy way?
Offering incentives for healthy habits can work well, like discounts on gym memberships or subsidies on healthy foods. Educational campaigns to raise awareness about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle would also help, along with workplace programs that encourage employees to take breaks and stay active.
