1. How important are clothes and fashion to you? Why/Why not?

   
   

   Clothes and fashion are somewhat important to me, but I wouldn’t say I’m overly focused on trends. I like wearing things that make me feel comfortable and confident, and I appreciate style that reflects my personality. It’s nice to feel well-dressed, but I don’t stress too much about following the latest fashion.

2. What kind of clothes do you dislike? Why?

   
   

   I’m not a fan of overly tight or restrictive clothing. It just doesn’t feel comfortable, especially when I have a busy day. I also tend to avoid very flashy or overly bright colours. I prefer a more subtle, classic look that’s easier to mix and match.

3. How different are the clothes you wear now from those you wore 10 years ago?

   
   

   They’re quite different! Ten years ago, I used to wear more casual and youthful styles, like graphic tees and jeans. Now, I prefer a more polished and put-together look. I think my wardrobe has evolved to suit my lifestyle better, with more work-appropriate outfits and a focus on quality over quantity.

   Clothes can tell a lot about a person’s personality, lifestyle, and even mood. For instance, someone who wears bright colours might be more outgoing, while someone in neutral shades might prefer to stay low-key. I think clothing is a way for people to express themselves without even saying a word.

PART II: Describe a Festival That is Important in Your Country

One of the most important festivals in my country is Diwali, which is celebrated by millions of people every year. Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, typically occurs in October or November, depending on the lunar calendar.

During Diwali, people decorate their homes with lights, rangolis, and candles, and families gather to celebrate with traditional foods, sweets, and fireworks. The festival is all about spreading joy, so we often visit friends and family to exchange gifts and sweets. One of my favourite parts is lighting oil lamps around the house, which creates a beautiful, warm glow everywhere.

What I love most about Diwali is the feeling of togetherness and the joy that fills the air. The whole festival is so vibrant and uplifting, and it’s one of the few times when everyone is truly focused on family and friends. Diwali is deeply meaningful as it symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. It’s not just a celebration but a reminder of the importance of kindness, peace, and gratitude.

   Yes, in many cases, the original significance does get overshadowed by commercialism or just the focus on fun activities. While it’s great that festivals bring joy and excitement, it’s a bit unfortunate when people forget the cultural or historical meaning behind them. However, I think the celebration itself is still valuable, as it brings people together and keeps traditions alive, even if in a slightly different form.

3. Do you think that new festivals will be introduced in the future? What kind?

   
   

   Absolutely, I think new festivals will emerge, especially ones that focus on global issues like environmental awareness or digital innovation. As our world changes, so do our reasons for celebrating, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see more festivals that reflect modern values and priorities, like World Environment Day celebrations or tech expos.

   The media plays a huge role by broadcasting festivals, sharing stories, and highlighting different cultural practices. It helps people learn about festivals they might not be familiar with and can promote a sense of inclusivity. Media coverage can also encourage people to participate and keep traditions alive.

   Watching festivals on TV can be both good and bad. It’s a great way for people who can’t attend in person to still feel connected, and it offers a broader audience insight into different cultures. However, it’s not the same as experiencing the atmosphere firsthand. Watching from a screen can lack the excitement and personal touch of being there in person.

   Globalisation has already led to the blending of traditions, with festivals like Halloween and Christmas becoming popular in countries where they weren’t traditionally celebrated.
