Once there was a man named Aesop in Greece. He was famous for his fables on moral lessons. He was a slave in his early days, but he was very religious-minded. Once, he was sold to a farmer who was lazy. On the first day, Aesop found that his master did not say his morning prayer but slept till sunrise. He woke his master, but he would not leave his bed. He asked Aesop to go to the field to work for him. Aesop woke his master the next day too. But the master became very angry and gave him a bag of barley. একবার গ্রীসে এসোপ নামে এক ব্যক্তি ছিলেন। তিনি নৈতিক শিক্ষামূলক গল্পের জন্য বিখ্যাত ছিলেন। তার শৈশবকাল ছিল দাসত্বের, তবে তিনি অত্যন্ত ধার্মিক মনোভাবাপন্ন ছিলেন। একদিন, তাকে এক অলস কৃষকের কাছে বিক্রি করা হয়।

প্রথম দিন এসোপ লক্ষ্য করলেন যে তার মালিক সকালে প্রার্থনা করেননি, বরং সূর্যোদয় পর্যন্ত শুয়ে ছিলেন। এসোপ তার মালিককে জাগিয়ে দিলেন, কিন্তু তিনি বিছানা ছেড়ে উঠতে অস্বীকার করলেন। তিনি এসোপকে মাঠে কাজ করতে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।

পরদিনও এসোপ তার মালিককে জাগালেন। কিন্তু মালিক অত্যন্ত রেগে গেলেন এবং তাকে এক ব্যাগ গম দিলেন। তিনি এসোপকে মাঠে গিয়ে বীজ বপন করতে বললেন।
